Imagine a school year that gave the students one week off after every quarter and every Friday off. Does this sound exciting and rich with possibilities? Then ask the superintendent of the school district to consider year round school with only four days per week.First, students would not forget what they learned over the long summer. Next, parents would not have to get day care except on Fridays instead of the whole summer. If we didn’t go to school on Mondays all of the students would be able to do all of our home work, go on longer vacations and not have to miss school and be able to spend time with family and friends. Then when students came to school on Tuesday they would all be well rested and ready to learn. Another thing that it would do is take a lot of stress of the students and that would help them look forward to their lives.

Education is extremely important, but it doesn’t do any good when students are mentally drained from the large workload that that week has provided. Going to school five days out of a seven day week for approximately 26 weeks, excluding days off for holidays, is entirely too stressful and can tire kids out. Going to school for five days is like trying to write with a pencil that has no tip. Pointless. Who wouldn’t want an extra day to sleep in, finish excess homework and projects that have to be done, and just be able to relax and not stress about school? I understand that some people might get frustrated with the possibility of having a longer school day or longer school year, but four day school weeks can improve learning and understanding abilities, provide an extra day to actually complete homework, and relieve frustration. Some kids around the U.S struggle with depression, anxiety ect a 4 day school week would reduce the effects of these issues. 4 day school weeks would simply give kids better grades by having that extra day to get homework done. Kids would have more freedom which would in generally make them more happy. Teachers could teach better with an extra day to correct papers, practice lessons ect.
