He then tells the story of eating his first oyster, calling it “the proudest moment of my young life,” he claims (398). He discusses how his family seemed disgusted by the oyster, but he enjoyed it. Bourdain allows the reader to see this moment in his life in order to show the exact time that he truly realized that “food had power” (399). Bourdain’s use of his childhood memories connects the reader to the reason why and how he came to love food.

Frederick Elliston’s “In Defense of Promiscuity” elucidates promiscuity and claims that non-committal sex holds more merit than sexual experiences restricted to either marriage or commitments; two spheres of the Western norm rejected by Elliston. Contrarily, Robert M. Stewart claims in “Meaningful Sex and Moral Respect” that engaging in “junk sex” (i.e. non-committal sex) hampers a person’s overall ability to achieve a higher level of sexual experience which surpasses physical pleasure and seeks deeper meaning. In Sandra Cisnero’s novella, The House on Mango Street, Esperanza sees the importance of learning about her sexuality as she is growing up from her childhood to adolescence. In the first vignette, “The Family of Little Feet,” Esperanza and her two other friends receive three pairs of “dancing shoes” which they all are excited about. They get the idea to put them on and walk around town showing off how beautiful the shoes are. Greg’s terminology is extremely power-laden. “Spontaneous” has the connotation of energy and activity, whereas “dormant” and “victim” imply inactivity. I also noticed the correlation between spontaneous sex and intimacy. It seems that when the sex was planned in this book, there was more intent to have casual sex and heavily influenced with lust. When the sex scenes were spontaneous, the intimacy levels were definitely increased, and often times it seemed as if the sex was more meaningful.

In Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca’s “The Relation”, he begins the work by placing all sense of glory and success upon that of Emperor Charles V. This is customary during this time period, but the underlying exaggeration of Charles V’s magnificence show the disconnect that Cabeza de Vaca possessed when pertaining to old world ways of life. It in essence solidifies his self-centered persona that he was said to posses (43). It also magnifies the feeling Cabeza de Vaca has towards the societal norms, and suggests that he would later on consider himself a renegade. Human sexuality is a common phrase for all, and anything, pertaining to the feelings and behaviors of sex for the human race. Sexuality has been a topic that has been discussed and studied for as far back as 1000 years B.C. and is still being studied today. As the discussion of sexuality has progressed through history, theories have been created based on research and experiments that scholars have implemented, based on their own perceptions of human behavior. Out of the many theories that pose to explain sexual behavior, Sexuality Now explained ten that are seemed to be the most overlapped, and built off of theories. Of these theories, two that were discussed in the text were the behavioral and sociological theory. These two theories cover some of the basic ideas of what could possibly influence a person’s sexuality.

I found similar results to those of the website. The two questions that gave significant results following the ageism trend was #9 and #11: "Growing old is a natural part of life" and "The thought of becoming old or older distresses me" Both of these questions consisitently were answered "strongly agree". Finding above a ninety percentile agreement supports my old views and adds to the ageism that still existing today. The fact is that is was normal for my grandparents to be doing what they were doing. Being old does not extinquish the passion for having sex. However, it is act of thinking about old people having sex that does.

I love the Christmas season. I love the music, my family's company, decorating and the general happy feeling. Unfortunately, my any people suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, during the holidays. This can be due to a job layoff, a recent divorce or death, being in a bad relationship or any number of reasons. I would never want anyone I know or love to suffer through such a thing. While I cannot control my friends or family, I can control the rules of my future children. In order for my potential children to be safe, I have formulated 3 main rules for my potential children to follow when dating.

Holidays have always been known to affect our consumer culture for many years, but how it all began eludes many people and very few studies have been completed on it. Even though some say that the subject is too broad to precisely identify how holidays, especially Christmas, directly affect our market, I have found that people’s values, expectations and rituals related to holidays can cause an excessive amount of spending among our society. Most people are unaware that over the centuries holidays have become such a profitable time of year for industries that they now starting to promote gift ideas on an average of a month and a half ahead of actual holiday dates to meet consumer demands.

Throughout history it is evident that human sexuality changes do to religious, governmental and societal influences. The perception of human sexuality has gone through many changes such as being very open and unlabeled activity; to being very “conservative” and a topic that shouldn’t be talked about in public or at all. In any case, human sexuality has always been a topic of interest because humans are sexual beings who want to understand the consciousness of themselves as male or female and see their personal response when encountered in erotic experiences with other individuals. Unlike many other species whose sexual force is strictly for reproduction, human’s sexual drive seems to be driven by many factors that intertwine with each other which leads to very different outcomes. Do to these obscure human emotions and personal gratification, sex is always shown every culture’s art, literature, social norms, and laws.
