A worst fear to hit above all aside from death: public speaking. Having to talk in front of an audience otherwise in my words, the talking itself. I don’t recall on how I became “that one quiet kid” in school, but it’s a personality that I sometimes, irritate myself also. It’s like having an invisible barrier, it shields on what might seem dangerous ahead. After a while, the curiosity grows yet, the barrier blocks leaving the interest unsatisfied. Although, it’s not always like that, it’s very different at home. It’s more like I’m the one who needs to be hushed from the talking. From my perspective, talkative at home while, at school the silent treatment. So, what is the problem here? Freshman to Junior, I stayed the same. Some students even
Communication apprehension has played a huge role on my life. Growing up I thought I was a social butterfly, not worrying about what people thought about me or how they viewed me. I had some great friends growing up that were always supportive of me. We would hang out all the time and meet new people and just have fun. It wasn’t until I was a little bit older that I learned of the fear of public speaking.
School was exactly how I had imagined it to be while I was in grade school. I had the privilege of having recess, early lunch hours, and most importantly, naptime! The day I started sixth grade, my whole world seem as if it flipped upside down. I was no longer at the top of the “food chain”, school was way more stressful, and I had, in fact, found new talents within myself.
Public speaking is the number one fear in the world, which shows that the number one fear is really a deep fear of rejection from the connection of others. The narrator in “Typical First Year Professor”, who had a fantastic education and experience, has public speaking issues. She explains how her fear physically affects her in, “Ten minutes before my first class, I run to the bathroom and vomit. I’m afraid of public speaking, which
Junior year. My junior year I realized things about myself that I hadn’t previously known. Things I’ve never done before and things people thought I couldn’t do. Situations I thought I wouldn’t be in and there I was. Junior year, I did it.
1. In the beginning of the book, Junior explains that he was "born with water on the brain". Junior has brain damage from surgery he went through to remove fuild in his brain, this left Junior with many physical problems: He has forty-two teeth, is skinny, has an over-sized head, hands, and feet, has poor eyesight, experiences frequent seizures, stutters, and lisps. (Page) These problems also caused him to be bullied by other kids on the reservation, Junior is beaten up and given names such as "globe" and "retard" making fun of his physical difference. To add to this his family like most of the reservation is extremely poor. They show this when Junior's adopted dog Oscar begins to suffer from intense heat exhaustion and Junior's father is forced to kill Oscar with a rifle to avoid having to pay the expensive veterinary treatment necessary to save him. (Page) This scene gives Junior and the people on the reservation immediate character with telling very much about them. It lets the readers sympathetic with Junior making the actions that he does later in the book more meaning-full to the reader.
Freddy Freshman wondered about about his first day in high school. After all, there were the constant stories of the infamous “Freshmeat Friday”, where upperclassmen would purposely single out a freshman and terrorize the poor kid. When Freddy got to school however, he had much more concerning things to take care of than something that might take place at the end of the week. He just didn’t know about it, but not knowing does not stop anything. While walking to his class Freddy smelled the scent of sweat. Then a fist from a jock monster smashed into him, and he fell, slamming his head on the pavement as he tried to scramble up and dash away. With it’s massive and heavily muscled body, Freddy quickly realized that escape was futile . Not knowing what to do, he started thinking back to middle school and quickly settled on the option he loved to do when this happened. He threw his lunch money in the air, and made a dash for it. The tough, brawny gargantuan fell for it, and Freddy
Public speaking is often described as the most common fear in the world. It is also something that many people are required to do. Most thirteen year olds crave the attention of older kids, particularly boys. In my case, I dreaded it. I was born shy. My natural instinct when someone approached me was to look away, and if they talked to me – heaven forbid – I would smile, blush, and then quietly mumble something inaudible only to become more embarrassed. It wasn’t necessarily my fault, my entire family had a natural shyness about them. We rarely craved the limelight and for the most part it worked out just fine, that is until we were forced into an assertive role. Along with the attention, most kids want to be the kid who hits the big shot, has the token girls on his arms and is adored by just about everyone. That’s every kid’s dream – except for mine. My experience in
In every kids life they get to do one thing in school and that is go to junior high. Coming from a small elementary school to a big kid school can take a while to get used to. Metting the teachers were some of the scariest times about starting junior high.
If you knew anything about Penelope Wood you wouldn’t expect her to be lying dead on the cold cement just meters away from the last incident, and yes this isn’t the first time someone has “committed suicide” at Middle Park High. I find it absurd that anyone would ever think she would purposely climb to the top of the science block and jump, like what makes those stupid cops think it was a suicide? Not to mention only the teachers had keys to the stairs after what Thomas did. Something like this would never have crossed her mind and I most definitely know this because she was my friend, not just because she was the only one who stuck by when everyone else harassed me after my Mother made me cut my hair like a boy but because we were almost the
Since I was a kid in elementary school, shyness was part of who I am since. My mother had to go to the parents meeting each year telling my teachers that I am very shy. Because sometimes I would go home crying because one of my teachers told me to say something in front of the whole class. She would go and tell them not pick on me during class or take away participation points. Whereas my family and I had to move to the United Stated when it was time for me to go to high school. Unfortunately, my mother card could not work for high school. During my four years of high school the word “speech” and “presentation” always scared me just like a clown scaring a little kid. Hearing, those two words from my teacher, I automatically start stressing

It was a year after the fight. Everything had returned to normal at Trinity High School. Everything was going good for Jerry, except for he didn’t play football this year because of his teammates targeting him last season.
The seniors of James High School are having a sleepover during the weekend at the school. Although it won't be as fun as they think.
