“Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”-Murphy’s Law. This is awfully true when it comes to the story of Romeo and Juliet, and to think, it all could have been avoided if one person was a little more cautious. Being an intelligent man and counselor of the people, you would think Friar Lawrence would be less inept when it comes to giving a young, impressionable, foolish, naive, teen girl consultation over a boy she can’t be with under normal circumstances. Friar not only tells the girl to kill herself to be with a guy he married her to 3 days ago, but he tries to tell the dude about this through a third party. All of Friar’s decisions are poorly made right from the get go. The most wise and noble man defeated by teenage drama. Friar’s first

Friar Laurence, though he thought he was doing the right thing for the young teens, he really had a bad judgment. He carried the burden of their deaths forever. If he had delivered the message of Juliet’s death being fake, Romeo wouldn’t have gone to the apothecary and gotten a poison to kill himself. Instead of helping and supporting them to disclose their love situation, he looked for and chose “easy” way out of the sticky situation. He submitted to their dreams and hopes. Thinking hard, long, and deeply about some of the questions, my mind was ultimately put to the test. The questions began as easy questions, such as basic information about myself.
Earlier, Juliet informs the Friar of something that would be important to remember before he left her. “And ere this hand, to Romeo sealed/shall be the label to another deed/or my heart with treacherous revolt/turn to another, this shall slay them both” (IV.i.58-61). Friar Lawrence then knew that she would rather die than marry another man, which means that she would die if she were not with Romeo. The Friar leaves her in the tomb with her dead husband, meaning that in a way she is without him, so she kills herself. If the Friar had tried to bring her away, she would be better off. He does try but it is weak, especially compared to what he could have done. He unconvincingly asks her to leave with him, and she responds with, “Go, get thee hence, for I will away” (V.iii.172). She weakly tells him to go, and after that he doesn’t even try to save her. This is definitely a careless decision, because he basically leaves her to die.
