Friday night-lights
There is a small town in Iowa. So small that everyone knows everyone. The town likes to prove on Friday nights that size means nothing. It may be a small town but its football team is a traditional powerhouse. They have won the state title 2 of out of the last 3 seasons. The team always seems to have great talent and great relationships with each other.
The team has the talent to do great things again this year, but the relationship between the players isn’t been like what it’s been the last few years. There not doing things together, getting in trouble, girls are getting in the way of things, but most of all there haven’t made any goals. The coaches tell them the teams before them had talent but they also had great relationships

All five were going to be starters. Game time as come and during per-game you could tell the barnstormers were going to get killed. They had won 50 games in a row at home. The longest home winning strike in Iowa football history. The barnstormers where kicking off to open the season and the kick kicked the ball far its just the couldn’t stop the returner from taking it to the house. The barnstormers so called high powered O then came onto the filed. They throw the ball some ran it some got down into the red zone ran it and the Running back had a walk in …show more content…
As the players came to practice that Monday the found out in order to make the playoffs they have to win the rest of there games. No problem. They had 6 games left. The out score there last 6 teams they played. 313-22. They not only had the top seed in the post-season but they had the leading rusher in the state Ameer Abdullah.
Grades had been a problem for a few players on the team. Having to miss a few games due to them but they got all there players back and ready for another title. The Barnstormers lead by running back Ameer Abdullah were going for they’re 3rd state title in four years.
They would take on the Rams the team that beat them to start the year. The Barnstormers got the ball to start the game and ran the ball just once well the only had to run it once cause Abdullah scored on the first play of the game. Jump to the 4th quarter and the score is all tired up at 24. 2 minutes left in the game and the Barnstormers have the football on they’re own 31 yard line. They got down to the 5-yard line with 2 seconds life in the game and kicked a filed goal to win the game. The players were so happy they were crying. At the end of the day it came down to that the team came together and worked together to
A wise person,Tommy Hilfiger once stated, “the road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it’s possible to achieve the American Dream”. This quote means that through willpower and passion, anyone can become successful. In the world we live in now, achieving the American dream can be challenging than before, on the contrary, with the right mindset, and inspiration the American dream is still possible. That being said, yes the American dream is still possible to accomplish, getting a good location, a future, and lastly a monumental historic moment that can be never unremembered.
On February 28, 2005, I experienced one of the most exciting events that anyone could ever experience – winning a State Championship. The day my soccer team made history is a day I’ll never forget. However it is not just that day we won the title, but the whole experience of the preceding season that got us there. From start to finish, my team’s 2004-2005 season taught me that the platitude is true. You can do anything you set your mind to.
The film Friday Night Lights, released in 2004, provides a visual representation depicting the sources of pride and success for a small Texas town. Odessa, Texas is where the film takes place, and its unique values and culture is what enables the town to be so infatuated to a high school football team. When the camera pans the city of Odessa throughout the film, it is clear that the town does not have much to brag about. The town contains family diners and small businesses, showing the small stature of the town; however, these same images provide a sense of closeness between the community. Due to the fact that Odessa may not be considered a “vacation spot”, the community collectively bonds and gains pride through the success of the towns high school football team, The Permian
In my previous years I hadn’t been as committed to my development as I should’ve, and now wish I had been. I made a vow to myself after that game to get serious. It was time to step up as a leader on the team, and show everyone that I had it in me to be great. I couldn’t suffer another season like the past three: promising signs throughout the entire regular season, but continuous disappointment in the postseason.
In H.G. Bissinger’s novel Friday Night Lights he goes in-depth describing the world surrounding high school football in Texas. There is nothing like high school football in Texas, it is the best thing to happen to many of the people that live there. Winning a high school state championship in Texas can make someone a hero for the rest of their lives. This being said, it causes a lot of difficulties once this peak in their life is over at such a young age. Many of these people do not know how to live with themselves after their days of football are over. They grow up and live through their kids. Sports and academics are two of the areas of life where parents attempt to live their dreams and ambitions through their children.
Despite the lack of athletic prowess gifted the Slack Jaw Punks writing staff, even the most nerdy among us (Iron Squid by a mile) can not deny the joy of watching a good sports film. Also we can't deny the appreciation and longing we have to be one of the guys. On the team, ya know. I think every nerd wants to that. The D&D crew just doesn't cut it. While I did play golf in high school (somewhere between Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore), and hung out with mostly jocks (geeks are be popular too) I can't really relate to the bond built during practices, road trips, victories and defeats or group showers. (The last one I could do with out) Despite, that I can and do enjoy films about those special relationships. While Undrafted, probably won't be mentioned in conversation the same way Slapshot, Major League, or Friday Night Lights are. It's still a really nice little
Friday night, under the fluorescent lights glistening off the white shinning helmets with a large black letter P on both sides. The smell of popcorn and hotdogs fill the air. The screams of twenty thousand fans echo throughout the arena. That 's more than the number of fans at some NBA games. Football is more than a game to the people of this town. It 's a way of life, it 's serves as a way out for many in the town, and it helps forget the horrible economic struggles the town faces. Football for this town created a false atmosphere, and became an addiction to this town. Football becoming an addiction has positives and many negatives. "Friday Night Lights," by H. G. Bissinger, tells the story of the small town of Odessa, Texas, and how football has become an addiction and taken over the lives of everyone in the town.
Friday night lights may be a Southern tradition, but Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night lights are the nights to wait for at the Vicksburg YMCA.
Over the past three years we have acquired many top players that have allowed our team to develop the skill and force we need to take down top teams. These girls have many unique qualities and skills that have allowed us to excel to another level that we could not achieve alone. Not only that, but the coaching staff, the strength and conditioning development staff, trainers, and athletic department have been working so hard for us all year and have provided us the resources, and means to be great. However, I stand by the argument that a major source of success this season came from the senior class. Every single one of the seniors has made a major contribution to this team on and off the field and I believe they are in the spirit and the heart of this group that stood as the foundation for the success of the
One week before their first game, the coach told to them about the team their against, which is a very good team. The coach says to his team that he had high hopes they will be able to win it, and lets them continue
Some people don’t understand that football is not an easy game. Football is one of America’s favorite sports. A team winning can easily change a fan’s mood for the better. Our team works very hard to win and compete with other teams, but it takes a lot more work than just showing up on Friday night and playing. In order to get ready for a game a player will need to complete steps for the day before and the day of the game.
The biggest reason for their 3-5 start to the season stems from their 0-3 record in the division. The NFC South is getting better, but it’s certainly not one of the strongest divisions in football. After a 1-5 start, the Panthers have won two straight games. They can still turn the season around and make the playoffs, but they’re on very thin
Victorious we had one more game one more chance to realize our goal make the playoffs. This one game summed up our season going into it our quarterback goes down with a high ankle sprain and can not play, but we were not worried as our backup was a phenomenal athlete we just needed him to play other spots till now. It is friday October tenth we had a home game against the Seymour Thunder who was in the same boat we were in win or go home, they were also carrying on their roster two Wisconsin badger recruits six foot six three hundred and sixty pound Jon Dietzen then do it all lineman at six foot four and three hundred even pounds Gunnar Roberege. The game does not start how we would like right out of the game they score on a long touchdown
Playing under the lights each Friday night was unparalleled to any high school experience I have had the honor to be a part of. As a young kid, I just wanted to be out there on the field to wear the brown and gold jerseys—the players at the time were my role models; I wanted to be just like them. It makes you feel part of something bigger than just the school when you have the name on the front of your jersey. Football not only builds character but life-long relationships with the people you would do anything for to reach a common goal. I learned how to trust one another like a family. If a player went down, we had trust in the “next man up”; we were one. The game is a true testament of how practice leads to improvement when dedication and
Overall my opinion on the team is that they show great sportsmanship and work well together as a
