Religion is a simple word that is able to branch out into different definitions. Whether beliefs consist of one God or many, religion was a huge aspect of many cultures everyday life. Religion seemed to be held on a higher pedestal back in the early days of religion, however the fact that many of these religions are still present in today’s history is amazing. Many of these religions actually have a good amount of similarities. Ones they each adopted and changed to better fit their beliefs. Between Egyptian beliefs, Buddhism, Islamic, and Christianity religion was a key aspect in living their everyday lives.

Through out our lives we will all at some point seek for answers of the questions we have about life itself, but no one has ever got the true answer. No one knows why they were really put on the earth or what the point of life is or why there is good and evil. Religion try to answer some of these questions. A common question is who or what is god. Religion sets lifestyles for people to follow, it makes path ways in attempts to try answer these questions and these are what people live by.

Religion is the belief in a higher power, by higher power I mean something something superhuman or inhuman, that is worshipped, followed, and cherished as the almighty guiding light or pathway through life and afterlife. Religion is the practicing of following a guiding figure or higher power. Religious guidance may occur with or without a God, but regardless of whether a God is present or not in the specific religion being practiced or not, it is still a belief in something superhuman, generally a higher power or purpose found in something inhumane. What is the true definition of the word religion? Well, religion is a set of beliefs and practices that recognize the existence of a god or many gods. We need religion in our lives because it gives us a sense of belonging to our common faith and helps us set morals in our lives. The importance of faith in our lives has created a bigger understanding to us and has showed us how we can have a closer link to it.

Religion is what people believe in, their faith, like a since of hope. In today’s society some religions have become myths so the start of newer religions may form. The very basic aspects of the world around us that myths explains are the course of day and night or seasons, the mysteries of life and death, and the creation of the world. In the African American culture we believe when a loved one has passed on we should celebrate their life. Celebrating their life means they are no longer in pain or suffering they are going home to the Almighty and we should be happy for them. Moreover Latinos strived for progress by pushing for collective bargaining rights, a mandate for bilingual education and running for offices in major cities.

Religion is one of the greatest creations of mankind. Human beings are different from any other animals because of their ability to think and to create. When man evolved to form societies or countries, when they need to understand better the world around them, religions were created naturally.

Religion forms as a method for dealing with life and the world it makes up. It answers the questions that are beyond science and logic. It eliminates the question of "Why?", and brings the fellow believers together to cope with the community and personal problems. The narrator and protagonist Anna Frith emerges from an oppressed woman of her era to a modern, successful and independent woman. In the novel, Anna is often regarded as a changing character. Elinor in fact said to Anna "I wonder if you know how you have changed". In light of this, Brooks shows the transformation of Anna in many different aspects of her life. At the beginning, before the transformation of Anna, the women were forced to be 'the property of their husbands', due to the historical setting of the novel. Moreover, when Anna's husband Sam passed away, she was forced to become independent and be the "bread winner" of the family. This was the beginning of her transformation.
