Frogville: A Short Story

‘The Secret Life of Frogs’ is a poem that delves into the childhood perception of war, in particular World War I, and the experiences of their fathers. ‘The Secret Life of Frogs’ deals with the idea of misunderstandings incurred when children attempt to understand adult concepts. This is evident through the use of punning. The term ‘Frog’, which is frequently used throughout the poem adds amusement to the text because to the readers, it not only translates literally to a frog, but also represents the rival French people in the war through a negative light. However, the narrator, who is also one of the children in the poem, does not understand this other meaning attached to the term ‘frog’. This can clearly be seen in the final sentence

The most famous story about Smiley and his frog was when Dan'l didn't jump. One day, a stranger came to town. He questioned what was in a box Smiley was carrying. It was the frog, Dan’l Webster. He didn't think the frog was anything special, so Smiley decided to prove the stranger wrong. He went to the swap and caught another frog then quickly returned to the stranger. They bet $40 dollars and started the race. The new frog jumped away immediately but Dan’l Webster didn't move at all. The Stranger walked away with the cash. When Smiley investigated Dan’l, there was a huge amount of quail shot. Smiley gave chase after the stranger but he could not find

Joe being haunted by his war experiences is evident from the relief he feels from not having to hear the noises of war anymore once he realized he has gone death. Joe comes to the realization that his hearing loss may be bearable by making the statement “He never wanted to hear the biting little castanet sound of a machine gun or the high whistle of a .75 coming down fast or the slow thunder as it hit or the whine of an airplane

One day in 1983, there was a boy named Crock. He was a funny kid. His mother was in jail for using a wand and turning people and things into frogs.

Long ago, but somehow in the future, there lived a frog named Woggle, and his much more interesting brother named, Wiggles. One day Woggle and Wiggles where tired of living out in the wilderness, they didn’t want to be like the other frogs they wanted to live in city, because they knew the city would contain many opportunities, but they lack the knowledge of the dangers in the city. They eventually made up their minds and they went to the big city. When they arrived at the city they didn’t like what they saw, large trucks, loud traffic and crowds of people, they didn’t like any of it. Though it was bad they still had hope, so Woggle took a deep breath and took his first step out into the street, but then, all of the sudden a runaway train burst through a building and ran onto the street. Woggle screamed and sacked the train.

But this scorpion, he wants to cross the river, so he asks the frog. The frog’s worried about getting stung, but the scorpion tells it to trust him.

Jesse lives in a small town called lark creek and has a hard family life. He likes to draw in his free time and has been training for running all summer. One day a new family the Burkes move in next to the errands household their daughter Lesley's creative artistic and now Jesse's new classmate. Jesse's always dreamed of being the fastest runner in the fifth grade at Lark Creek Elementary School. Leslie runs with the boys and beats all of them. Jesse was crushed and no one really seemed to like her after that. Soon after Jesse and Leslie start to be friends. Since they are both neighbors Jesse and Leslie spend a lot of time together. They take over a part of a nearby Forest that is only accessible by swinging on a rope over the creek. They

The victim lay facedown, with a sweating forehead pressed fearfully into the pillow, silently praying the noises would just go away. Suddenly the victim found himself straddled and pinned to the bed. Little Marvin was a cricket, he lived inside a little cupboard inside the kitchen of the house. Marvin loved to paint and dance. One day he was discovered by a little boy named James, when james first saw marvin he was scared and tried to squash him, but then marvin started to speak. After talking marvin and james became best friends.

Once upon a time there lived a farmer and his pet dog Sabel. The farmer's name was Dan, Dan Diordi Dan Diordi lived on a small farm with his wife Marilyn, and his kids Jacob and Noël. Jacob was a tall thin blond boy, Noël was a also tall thin and blond, just like everyone else in the family except Dan. Dan was also tall and thin but he had messy brown hair instead of blond hair. One friday Dan went out to feed the chickens when all of a sudden KABOOM! There was a very loud explosion and Dan saw a mushroom cloud in the distance, but this wasn't like any normal explosion it was green with a giant black and purple thing flying over top of it. Joey is a prince who reunited with princess Liaundra. The wicked queen and Prince Joey are living on the pond as frogs. After the wicked queen was turned into a frog, and went to live in the pond, she set up her court in a little cave among the rocks, just under the fountain. She made it her palace. All it took was a couple of simple spells to create the right atmosphere for a frog queen. The first spell pushed out the family of frogs who were living there at the time. They were moved by magic to the smelly side of the pond, where all the slime and duck weed collects. The next spell added some turrets and fluted pillars and a drawbridge. Inside there was a little marble bathroom with gold taps, and a kitchen where Prince Joey the Frog prepared
