“Poetry is when emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.” (Robert Frost). Robert Frost wrote his poems with emotion and with a connection to his personal life. Frost wrote his poems like no other poet. His works are world renowned and impact literature today. His works are read in schools and people still talk and write about him and his writing today. Frost lived in a hard time period, but he still was able to write and be successful. It took years to become a success, but he was persistent. Not many people had faith in him or knew how much work it would take to be a poet. Frost is the perfect picture of determination and passion. Robert Frost is one of the most famous and influential poets of all time.

The Road Not Taken is a poem about different paths and choices available in life. In an article by Exploring Poetry, Frost is said to use a metaphor to start his poem. The metaphor of diverging roads.( Exploring Poetry, 2003) In a different article from Exploring Poetry, they state that the poem is arranged in four stanzas with five lines in each stanza. They also say that the rhyme scheme is abaab. (Exploring Poetry, 2003) This poem is said to be like Frost’s life in that he had many options and paths he could have headed down. Although both of his parents died and he had a hard life, he chose the better path. Frost says in the poem, “ Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” (Robert Frost) The Road Not Taken is definitely symbolic of parts of his life. Robert Frost changed and gave a model to a new form of poetry that was to come. In a recent article by PR Newswire, they write about a whole day being dedicated to Robert Frost’s Mending Wall. Mending Wall day will take place on Robert Frost’s birthday to honor him and celebrate the heritage of stonewalls. (PR Newswire, 2015) Later in the same article, they say that Mending Wall day is supposed to take place in the early spring, which is when farmers used to build their walls. The day is supposed to take people back to their rural past when stonewalls were made by hand. (PR Newswire, 2015) In a recent article by Investor’s Daily, Mink quotes Prini, “ Frost is in my view probably the premier American poet ever. He ranks as one of the top poets in the history of the world,” (Mink, 2001) Frost’s way of writing was above anything of his time.
