And even though there are many people who dislike poetry, maybe because they have a hard time comprehending what the author is saying, this form of writing is very important to the writing world and without it we would probably view writing very differently. He was even invited to the white house as a special guest speaker at John F. Kennedy's inauguration. His style of poetry allows readers a good sense of imagery and self-connection. Frost uses nature to metaphorically connect his themes or messages throughout his many poems. Even though Frost lived a life of unfortunate events, he found a way to keep moving forward.

Robert Frost was one of the most famous American poets. He was believed to have started a unique style in poetry: portraying what the readers are farmiliar with, not what they do not know (“Robert Frost”).

According to PoetryFoundation.org, “Robert Frost holds a unique and almost isolated position in American letters.” Robert Frost is very popular for his realistic writings of rural life. He was a great poet and was honored frequently during his lifetime. Frost received four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry and recited his poem, “The Gift Outright,” at President John F. Kennedy’s inauguration in January 1961 which got him national prominence. PoetryFoundation.org also says, “In a sense, Frost stands at 19th-centuryAmerican poetry and modernism, for in his verse may be found the culmination of many 19th-century tendencies and traditions as well as parallels to the works of his 20th-century contemporaries.” “His clear, simple language and conversational tone revealed the poet’s penetrating insight and make his poetry beloved by millions of readers” (Schechter 263).

Robert Frost authored his poetry as if he observed metaphors in everyday encounters, bringing to life vivid visual images in the minds of readers everywhere. Frost vocalized, “Poetry begins in trivial metaphors, pretty metaphors, ‘grace’ metaphors, and goes on to the profoundest thinking that we have. Poetry provides that one permissible way of saying one thing and meaning another.” Frost applies metaphors, dialogue and figurative language resulting in memorable poetry described by John F. Kennedy as “from which Americans will forever gain joy and understanding.” Frost applies everyday language, blending traditional meters and idioms with dramatic narration to stimulate the most profound thinking. Frost is known for a New England style both in his poetry he creates as well as in his writing styles and techniques. He is from modern times and considered a modern poet, but is well known for his incorporation of nineteenth century tendencies and traditions in his poems. Robert Frost applies imagery and figurative language to create vivid visual images, creating a well-known style as a modern poet while incorporating traditional nineteenth century poetic practices.

Poetry is a form of writing which is used to communicate emotions, feelings and captures the aesthetic beauty of romanticism in a condensed manner. Poems seek to reflect the attitudes and conceptions in the society while at the same time communicating the depth of feelings, emotions, ambitions and dreams of an individual or the society as a whole. Poetry is therefore a form of art which seeks to capture the underlying emotion in humans while at the same time bringing out the beauty and the realism in life (Fabb). With a journalist as a father, he gained an early experience in the world of writing. His talented ability and life experiences led him to England and back to America which resulted in making a famous name for himself in the poetic field. Like in “The Road Not Taken”, his poems are filled with symbols, imagery and creative wordplay in nature despite the fact he faced an extremely troubled life. There comes a time in everyone’s life that we are forced to make lifelong decisions. What is chosen may more and or less be based off mood, values and priorities. Our behaviors and actions are what help us shape our future, therefore being very careful is a key quality in life when your deciding the next step, sometimes its known that bad decisions can lead to having regrets. “The Road Not Taken,” by Robert Frost relates to this because in the poem he describes being in the same situation of deciding which “road” will lead him to being and living a successful life or possibly living in regret. Either way, if you admit it now or in the wee hours of the night, like most people, you will come across this question at least once in your life. Robert Frost was able to grasp this raw, vulnerable life changing moment in the palm of his hand. Then he beautifully laid it out in the form of words in the narrative poem “The Road Not Taken”. Frost is able to take you back to a time when you have been faced with a life-changing decision. Then, causing you to ask yourself “Did I make the right choice?”, “What caused me to choose the way I did?”, and “How did my choices long ago affect my life today?”. This is more than a poem, but rather a meaningful life lesson.

“The Road Not Taken” was written by Robert Frost in 1916, and it was the first poem in the collection Mountain Interval (Shmoop). Even though it was written many years ago, people of all ages still study this enticing poem. Frost wrote about coming to a fork in the woods and examining which path he should take and whether he might ever come back; the speaker believes each path is fine to take, but he takes the less used path (line 6). Robert Frost is perhaps one of America's best poets of his generation. His vivid images of nature capture the minds of readers.
