Flour mills were grinding wheat for years before Charles Pillsbury arrived. Charles had his own industry. Pillsbury also invested in a failing flour mill. Pillsbury flour company became the largest flour company in the 19th century.

Lumber was a very important to the people of early Minnesota, because of the harsh winters the people faced. When lumberjacks would go out to eat food they would use a type of language that most people wouldn't understand. His business was a flour factory called Pillsbury. He bought a failing flour mill. They used steel rollers. They took wheat and grinded it to flour. When they made wheat into flour they took out the brown flecks.

The flour industry started in 1854. But in M.N. flour wasn't the biggest part of the economy. Until Charles Pillsbury came along, he started one of the best known brand even today. In the 19th century, there was three industries. Charles pillsbury started one and that was the flour industry.

We have come to the conclusion that the quality of their merchandise is underwhelming in comparison to our products. Along with quality, the prices of their merchandise is a little bit cheaper than ours. However, we believe the higher quality of our merchandise along with our unparalleled customer service, will compensate for the extra cost per product.

In 1981, the Marciano brothers arrived in Los Angeles and opened a clothing store. The brothers who were originally from South France had previously owned a twelve chain retail store in France. Jeans were among some of the merchandise in the brother’s store. The jeans were designed by Georges Marciano, they called named the jeans GUESS because it was easy for the brothers to pronounce. These jeans were intended to have a tight fit and feature zippers near the ankles. The stone-wash gave them a soft feel and lighter colors than the rest of the jeans of its time. It was at this time that they featured the ever famous GUESS triangle on the back of the jean pockets. Today the company’s products are marketed under Maricano, GUESS Factory, Guess, G by Guess, and Guess Kids.

I am very interested in the clothing retail industry so I interviewed an entrepreneur who is in this field. She is Natasha McKnight who owns a boutique named Sapphire Nine in Hollidaysburg. It is around twenty-five minutes drive from Altoona Ivyside campus. Natasha was new in that she opened the store in August this year.

I intend to start a retail clothing store in Chennai city in India. I would like to name my store as Shilpa Retail and Designer wear. There are different types of clothings in India depending on cultural traditions of the people. Shilpa Retail and Designer wear is a one stop store for all kinds of Indian women cloths and western clothing.

Flour milling is believed to have been around since the prehistoric days, with evidence suggesting that crude flour was being made by crushing and grinding wild grains between rocks since 9000B.C. (Funk & Wagnalls New World Encylopedia, 2015). As humanity developed people began using mortar and pestles to grind grains and seeds into crude wholemeal flour. A mortar and pestle is a very simple but useful device that is a narrow and deep bowl and a solid club-like object that relies on the brute strength of the user to crush the objects into a fine powder or paste. Developments in this technique lead to a new devices such as saddle quern stones, this is a two piece stone device that is set up that the base stone is concaved with a large stone on top that is oscillated back and forth along the curve to grind the grains, and later lead to rotary hand quern stones. Evidence of the rotary hand quern being used goes back 7500 years ago and is still being used by many villages throughout Asia and Africa. As communities developed and grew these hand operated quern stones were not producing enough flour for the amount of man labour that was being applied in the process, so larger stones were being used that had an increased capacity, that large sturdy animals like oxs, would operate.
