2. In 1966 he won the most prestigious award in the MLB, which is the Most Valuable Player award
Throughout the history of major league baseball we have seen countless astonishing hitters come pass through, some putting up record breaking numbers, at times too good to be true. Barry Bonds, known as the “homerun king” was able to put up an amazing total of 73 home runs in 2001. The very next season, he continued to present his skill with a .370 batting average. Between 1999 and 2007, Bonds’ stats were shocking, hitting 351 home runs, winning four national league MVP awards, and racking up 780 RBI’s, 69 stolen bases, and just over one thousand hits. Alex Rodriguez, better known as “A-rod” is another huge name when talking about the greatest hitters in baseball. For nine seasons out of Rodriguez’s twenty two season career, 8.5% of the balls he would put into play were home runs. By the end of his lengthy career, he was able to collect 698 home runs, over two thousand RBI’s and runs scored, with over three thousand hits. He was also named All-Star fourteen times. With numbers like these, it is hard to
Kershaw has achieved what many pitchers dream about many times. In 2011, Kershaw produced a appealing record of 21-5 with an Era of 2.28 and 248 strikeouts made it an easy selection to award Kershaw his First Cy Young Award. Kershaw, had achieved a triple crown, leading pitchers in wins, strikeouts and Era in 2011 to go along with a gold glove award. Clayton Kershaw is the youngest, three time CY-Young award winner, and first NL pitcher to win the MVP award since “Bob Gibson” in 68. Kershaw from 2011 to 2014 has had the lowest earned run average in baseball for four straight years. Kershaw is destined for the Hall Of Fame, as a batter, Clayton Kershaw had a higher on-base percentage as a batter [2.35] than opposing hitters against him [.231].Kershaw is a five time all-star from [2011-2015.] Kershaw has thrown two no hitters in his career, but has never made it to the World Series unlike Justin
Mike Trout and Bryce Harper has had amazing careers so far even though they have only been in the league for less than 4 seasons. Mike Trout was drafted in 2009 and didn't start playing in the major leagues until 2011 with the Los Angeles Angles. On the other hand Bryce Harper was drafted in 2010 as the number 1 overall pick for the Washington Nationals. Mike Trout has a career batting average of .305 with 97 home runs. Bryce Harper has a career batting average .269 with 48 home runs. The reason I think that Mike Trout is better is because he puts up better number than Bryce Harper and Mike Trout is in a better division and league. For years the American League has been the hardest league to beat in the All-Star game. Mike Trout has better numbers than Bryce Harper but does Bryce Harper have more achievements than
Jackie Robinson award. Jackie was a great MLB player. He did not only change the way baseball was played. He
Kris has won many awards, especially when he was in the Minor League. Now that he is in the MLB he has won Rookie of the Month for May and August. He was also an All-star for the 2015 MLB season.
There isn’t a top 100 list posted, which doesn’t have the name Mike Trout on it. Trout is either the top player, or at the very least, one of the top 3 stars on every ranking. The importance of pitching vs. hitting and fielding, fuels the debate over who is number one.
José Miguel Cabrera Torres (born April 18, 1983), commonly known as Miguel Cabrera and nicknamed "Miggy", is a Venezuelan professional baseball first baseman who plays for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Since his debut in 2003 he is a two-time American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) award winner, a four-time AL batting champion, and an eleven-time MLB All-Star. He has played at first and third base for most of his major league career, but primarily played left and right field before 2006. He claimed the 17th Major League Baseball Triple Crown in 2012,[1] the first to do so in 45 seasons.
But as important as Rizzo has been, nobody has been more important than the pitching staff of the Chicago Cubs. Their 3.42 earned run average puts them in the top five in Major League Baseball, where they also reside in the opposing batting average category. The staff has been led by Jake Arrieta, whose 13 wins and 2.38 ERA are elite numbers in both categories across the league.
Jorge Posada has seen and been through it all, he has seen the best and worst of the team and as well put a career that might not pop out to your face as maybe the others of the Core Four. But if you look deeper, you would realize that Jorge Posada is more than ready to become the first of the Core Four and as well the 18th catcher to be enshrined in Cooperstown, New
Rizzo is a rare breed of hitter these days because of the fact with two strikes he chokes up on the bat and those around in the batters box something that definitely should happen more but today's hitters are stuck in their routine causing a record number of throughout Major league baseball. Rizzo has only struck out 50 times this season and walked 48 an amazing
First off it all comes down to who has the better career. Both Mike Trout and Bryce Harper have had simply great careers so far. Both made there MLB debuts in 2012. Since then Mike Trout has appeared in five all-star games and Bryce has only appeared in four. Trout is a two time AL MVP while Harper is sitting with one MVP award. To achieve an MVP award you must outperform everyone in your league. You need more home runs, RBI’S, etc. But in 2012
How herd he had to work throughout his whole life to be as good and talented as he is. “Before you can achieve it you must believe in yourself” is a quote from Mike Trout. He is only 25 years old and he has already won an MVP, Major League Baseball, two time All-Star Game MVP, three time Silver Slugger Award winner, and a Hank Aaron Award winner, and he is in the race for another league MVP this year. Mike Trout is the arguably the MLB’s best player currently. He is the franchise player for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
It’s that time of the year again, for Baseball Writers’ Association of America to vote for who they believe should be candidates for the Baseball Hall of Fame. The conversation of steroids always pops up at this time because some of the most prolific baseball players have been known to use steroids, such as Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, and Alex Rodriguez. These guys have been proven that they used the enhancing drug, but these are some of the league’s best players of all time and they aren’t getting the representation that they deserve. The system needs to be changed because it is keeping great ball players out of this superior club.
Derek Jeter 's Stats may not be the best in home runs or RBIs, but he has a lot more than just that he has 3000 hits. He ranks sixth all time in career hits with Pete rose being first(Twenty,VERDUCCI 7). He also ranks fourth all time on most wins in a career only three players in the past 100 years played in more wins than Jeter with Pete rose being first again Jeter won a total of one thousand seven hundred and twenty two games(Twenty,VERDUCCI 5). Derek Jeter also isn 't afraid of the spotlight his playoff stats are insane and can be argued one of the best all time ¨Napoleon once said that the genius in leadership is the man who can do the average thing when everybody else is going crazy¨. That 's Jeter in the postseason. His genius is that, when the pressure is greatest, he doesn 't elevate his game; he is able to play the same game. He is a .310 career hitter who hit .308 in the postseason.Jeter played one hundred fifty eight career postseason games, the equivalent of one full season. In that virtual season, Jeter had two hundred hits, twenty home runs, eighteen stolen bases and one hundred eleven runs scored. Since 1901, only five other shortstops put up those numbers in any regular season and one of them was Jeter in 1999(Hall,VERDUCCI 4). Jeter has a hit in 42
