Given the misinformation depicted in the media it is difficult to discern what Planned Parenthood does and exactly how it is that they allocate their funds. Though opponents of Planned Parenthood would have us believe abortions and contraception is what they do, health screenings and prevention is a more accurate description. More so given the array of services they offered and the fact that those they serve are mainly from the uninsured and underrepresented minority population. There have been many attempts on their part to pass anti-abortion legislation through and the most recent effort to defund Planned Parenthood is a response to false allegations surrounding fetal tissue donation. While Planned Parenthood does offer abortion services, the facility provides a wide array of other health services to demographics that are limited in their choice of health care provider. The issue is not that Planned Parenthood should not receive funding from the government; the issue is that republicans want to push their anti-abortion agenda. America has continually emphasized their believe in the separation of church and state. Though not a service any woman would ever wish to use, the idea that it is morally reprehensible is religious and though understandable, it has no merit in regards to the law. These are after all religious views that do not necessarily take into account all the good Planned Parenthood does. Ultimately it is nice that these individuals can express their religious views without fear of religious persecution though it would be nicer if say these same individuals could expand this notion of legal freedom and thus grant it to all people instead of just a few. I am sure we can all agree we are fortunate to live in a country where our benefits are many and our duties are few though our duties just as our benefits apply to all and as such we have an obligation to our fellow Americans in ensuring funding for an organization that helps many people regardless of the opposition of a
