There were a number of limitations observed in the research. For instance, it appeared that a considerable amount of the research included self-report surveys. This is a limitation since there is always the possibility that self-reports may not be completely accurate. Furthermore, it is a limitation because there is no way to confirm who actually completed the survey. Also, a limitation was relying solely on information provided either by a paper survey, or an online survey. Furthermore, there was a lack of direct verbal communication. In essence, did anyone directly ask the individual what they were experiencing? An additional limitation was the limited sample population of college undergraduates, who had an average age of 20.7. The researchers involved in this study would have only observed the results of this age group, essentially not providing adequate evidence demonstrating how all age groups with GAD handle their emotions. The researchers reported that there are many areas where further studies are needed. For example, what amount of studies have considered the impact of GAD on a pregnant woman, and furthermore, the implications for her child. Furthermore, researching the possibility that the child might be born with or develop an anxiety disorder. Also, it appears there is a discrepancy between studying the individuals who are diagnosed with GAD, and the people in their life. For instance, in what manner does GAD affect the family unit, the individuals’ co-workers and their job performance?
