At the beginning of the semester, my goal was to maintain a GPA of at least 3.5. Although it may not look like my goal will be reached, there is still plenty of time and to do well on my remaining assignments. I feel that I put in a great amount of work into my courses, but the key idea is to translate my effort into the grades I want. I currently have a few commitments outside of school that take a great deal of effort, but I try to avoid having them interfere with my school work. The bulk of my important assignments are in April as everything is a back to back major assignment. The classes that I’m doing well in right now are EDCI and COMM107. EDCI is an easy course for the program as my COMM107 teacher tries to make the class as manageable …show more content…
Right now I have a high grade in JOUR200, but recently it’s been dropping with my recent assignments. I put in a great amount of work, but I didn’t get the grade I wanted. Since I am working towards keeping my A, going to office hours and keeping up with the readings will help me. Another class where I feel my effort doesn’t show in my grades is GVPT170. I’m not really interested in the class, but I was very unhappy with my exam and quiz grades. I’m actually doing better than what I thought for this class. A class I am hoping to do better in is JOUR175. I think the course subject is interesting, but the class can be boring which makes me tune out. The only thing that is keeping my grade a float is participation and in-class assignments. Other than that I haven’t been studying hard enough to do well on the exams. As long as I do well on these next two unit tests and final paper, I can end with at least a B+. The class I have the lowest grade in is JOUR181. My professor makes the quizzes difficult, but I heard the final exam is nowhere near as hard. As long as I study for the quizzes and keep going to class, my exam grade will be high enough to outweigh every quiz. As for every other class, I’ll improve by going to every class, taking notes, going to office hours, and creating study
My Junior Year of high school just recently started. I have learned so many different things while attending high school, and still have over a year to learn even more. As Matthew Kelly said, “whether you are sixteen or sixty, the rest of your life is ahead of you. You cannot change one moment of your past, but you can change your whole future.” This means while I have done a lot in my past, I cannot change anything that has already happened, but I am able to change my future. One of the most important things that I am involved in right now is school. My first two years at CBHS were good, and I made decent grades. Some of the grades that I made I am not very happy with now but I cannot change that so I need to focus on my grades right now because those are the ones I can change.
I admit, I had a very challenging time last semester, and as a result my grades suffered. I don’t mean to make excuses for my poor performance in school but I would like to explain my circumstance. During my second semester of college I treated my classes like I did in high school thinking I could coast by and pass my classes, but when I noticed how poorly I was doing in class everything was already headed downhill. I started the second
To figure out the likelihood of a high school football player’s success in college over 100 high school head football coaches were surveyed about their views on qualities high school football players need to move to the next level. The surveys were mailed, emailed, and followed by several phone calls if no response was received within four to six weeks. All coaches surveyed were members of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and have had high school football players recruited by division one colleges within the last five years. The survey questions sought the following details about the football players: (1) Academic ability; (2) Athletic ability; (3) Self-determination; (4) Character; (5) History of overcoming adversities. Lastly, the end goal after the surveys have been collected and evaluated is to offer high school football players valuable information about what is needed to be considered for a four-year college scholarship.
As you will see I received a 493 on my MCAT exam, this was a low score which did not reflect my efforts to prepare for the exam. However, this number does not exemplify my potential as a student and a future phsyician. Although numbers can predict trends, none of these number my MCAT nor GPA show the individual I am and the type of physician I will become. While I may not be able to retake my MCAT now, I can assure you that I will be a phsyician with a patient-centered care focus primarlity in underserved populations. I ask that you look beyond my score and to me as an applicant. I am confident that with my background, experiences and education at Howard Univeristy College of Medicine, if I am granted the opportunity, I will become a competent,
There are two things that go into making an excellent scholarship candidate, and they are a person’s overall GPA and their service to the community. Caring about others is an imperative attribute to a nurse’s career. I recognize that my weakness is my grade point average only being a 3.17 at this point in time, but my leadership, community service dedication, and adaptability capabilities are very strong. For example, my first semester as a peer tutor, I was asked to take on a tutee that has a medical condition disabling his ability to read and write. This was a task that many did not want to take on, but I have a lot of respect for the person I tutor and they are doing very well. I had to learn to adapt to their style of learning and read
I believe the average freshman’s GPA would be a 3.0 because they would be entering a new school but will most likely be too immature to keep a higher grade. The average senior’s GPA would be 3.25 because they would be trying harder to get into graduate school or a new career. The median for freshmen’s GPA would be 2.7 because of the immaturity. The median for senior’s GPA would be 3.0 because everyone would be working harder to keep their grades
I have seen that it is easy to fall behind and lose track of what needs to be done. I have for the past two years of my college experience tried very hard not to fall behind. I have worked diligently in all of my classes and it reflects in my GPA. I am also not taking the easiest way out either. I am taking full semesters with 15 or 18 hours each. I try to get a good mix of classes from different areas. This semester I am taking numerous upper level courses along with lower ones. Some of these classes include tasks that must be done each day and other ones only need to be done once or twice a week. I feel that achieving good grades through the variety of classes that I am taking is a great achievement for me. College is different from high school; students have more freedom. I am proud of myself for my achievement of maintaining my high grades throughout my first couple of years at Lincoln University. I plan to continue to preserve my high grades all the way until
As of now, 72% of high schools use a weighted GPA system according to the National Association for College Admission Counseling’s 2013 State of College Admission Report (Dennis). However, this means that 28% of high schools still calculate unweighted GPAs. One of the first issues that arises from this GPA system is the fact that it leads to an unreasonable amount of valedictorians. Sure, superficially, it seems that rewarding those students who achieve straight A’s throughout their high school careers is pleasant, but pair that up with the fact that a student can take the easiest classes available just to receive such a title, and the term “valedictorian” becomes nothing but a worthless label. In those instances, these students appear identical
The Evidence collected demonstrates the Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA) Standards Component 1 and Component 2. Therefore, the Formative Assessment Task illustrates an alignment with Component 2 as it makes evident a comprehension of the data appropriate to collect and analyse when planning dynamic responsive teaching strategies. Resulting in, considering individual students’ strengths and diverse learning needs. This is, illustrated in the differentiation of the Formative Assessment Task by including visual cues in the task to facilitate needs assistance for students with language barriers, along with providing scribing assistance for students with difficulties recording script, both, concerns identified in observations and
I am the type of student that starts off with the best intentions and plan to get a high GPA score for the year.. I'll will do great the first few weeks, get all my assignments done on time, and doing well on quizzes. Then I might get behind on an assignment and spend time catching up instead of studying for the next class. By then I have fallen behind in the class and maybe a month later ill slip up again, the end result is me not doing my absolute best by the end of the semester.
I grew up in the 90’s, the golden age of video games. My perspective of life was similar to a video; one must continue to play the game to go to the next level. If one gives up, they will never progress. There are many different levels to life. In college, I passed a number of levels. However, I continued to repeat the same course. That is why my grade point average was low. One day, I was sitting in the back of class and unknowingly drifted to sleep. I heard a gentle voice whisper, “My dear what is your purpose?” As my eyes opened, I felt embarrassed. I awoken to an empty class and Professor Meadows stood over me. I was too drowsy to respond. So professor Meadows continued to speak, “Octavia I notice you put forth little effort, yet you have enormous potential.” As I walked home she made me think. What was my purpose?
To start off, in this last quarter of the school year, I want to accomplish the three goals I want to accomplish for the final quarter. My first goal I want to accomplish is getting A’s and A+’s in Math, Science, and Commarts class. Also I want to accomplish this goal because I struggle when it comes to handing it homework to get the grades I am hoping for the final quarter. Although when it is time for her too put my grades in the grade book it is a C, D, of F. I will have to accomplish doing my homework with my mom and in team study with Mr.Morgan so I get A’s and A+'s for my grades. To add on, my second goal I want to accomplish is turning in my homework right away not at the last minute. I want to accomplish this goal because, I struggle
I have been a member of a scholar program at my school for all of high school. This Rancho Verde program requires a certain GPA to be accepted and remain in it. For four years Rancho Verde Scholars leads a pathway of advanced classes and AP courses students are required to take. When I enrolled in the program, I was required to take honors and AP courses starting my first year of high school. As a result, a summer course was also required before my freshman year to prepare for the AP course, as well as a health course since it did not fit into my yearly courses. With great effort I able to maintain a high GPA and school ranking in order to stay and succeed in the program. In all honesty, I am grateful that it has allowed me to challenge myself
My first goal is to earn a 4.0 GPA this fall semester. This is an enabling goal because I will need I need to have above a 3.8 to get into the nursing program at UNC, therefore getting perfect grades this semester will set me up for success in the future semesters. To accomplish this goal, I will have to study for at least two hours a day, Monday through Friday. I will also need to go to at least three hours of tutoring each week. I live in a pre-nursing living community, therefore my RA has tutoring hours and the school provides two hours for each class of tutoring a week. I am a disorganized person and I rarely use a planner, and to get a 4.0 I will need to be very organized. To address this potential obstacle, I will sit down every Sunday and
Last year, I was the “skipper” of the freshman class. Sometimes, I just didn’t feel like going to class, or listening to the long boring lecture. I skipped each course at least three times. I’m dropped a total of 3 classes last year, because I failed to go to class. I used to skip one class every week. English 101 class was so long causing me to lose interest in the class. I would rather watch a documentary on how to make napkins than sit in his class. I had to drop the class because I skipped so much, that I wasn’t going to pass the course. Another class, Politics 101 wasn’t interesting to me. After I took the final exam, I should have attended class every time. I only needed three points to pass with a C. The teacher
