To find a book that is well-written, fascinating, honest, and unspokenly moving is golden in my eyes. “If I Stay” by Gayle Forman is a gripping, realistic look at teen girl in a coma.

and then you die. When they can find a body, they can put you in a coffin. Until then, you keep fighting. Because you have to, because you can't stop from it happening again". She then smiled and changed the subject, saying "I still remember you lying down in bed next to me, reading. I didn't see a lot of perfect happiness in my life, but you were perfectly happy".
While she is there she has to meet with a special doctor that will put her on a new type of pill that will help her to not have seizures. One of the main things I believe happened immediately after Mia woke up, is that she grieved over her family. Mia was very close to both her parents despite how different her personality and interests were from theirs. Mia most likely had trouble with getting used to the fact that they weren’t there anymore. Them not being their for any big moments in her life, them not being there to give advice, or listen to her. I think she grieved greatly for the lose of her little brother, Teddy.
The film starts slowly with the happy scenes of a family of four. The earthquake comes and the young mother wakes up afterward acknowledging all of her beloved ones are trapped under the collapsing houses. The rescue team finds her husband dead, but informs her that the twins are “trapped together under a slab of concrete.” Unfortunately, they also declare that “lifting the slab in any way will kill one of her children.” She denies to make a decision at first, but later chooses to save her son.
Forman introduces the readers to the love factor that is brought back to life between the two main characters. The love motif also shows up in Forman's writing in Leave Me. After Maribeth ran away from home, she got really depressed for a while. To break up the stories of sad nights at home, Forman adds a new love interest, Dr. Stephen Grant.

If I Stay, directed by R.J. Cutler and based off the novel by Gayle Forman, is a romantic drama focusing on the past life events of Mia Hall as she hangs on to her own life after being in a nearly fatal car accident. Mia Hall, played by Chloe Grace Moretz, is talented cellist, high school senior, and girlfriend to Adam, played by Jamie Blackley, the lead singer of the town’s popular band. Mia is impatiently awaiting to receive a letter from Julliard on a snow day, when her family decides to take a drive to celebrate the snow day by driving to her grandparents’ house. During their drive, the family’s car collides with a truck on the snowy roads. Mia awakes to find herself outside her body at the scene of the tragic accident. After she follows
Miia then went to talk about her parents, they were married really young going on to call Mia “ an experiment”. After four years and a pair of miscarriages, her mom realized she was pregnant with Teddy. Mia then discovers that her grandparents were talking about her, Gramps wondering if Mia will want to die in order to be with her parents. Mia overhears that the man who hit her family’s car is alive, yet she isn't angry with him because she understands his life has been and always will be greatly impacted. Mia then has another flashback, taking her back to when she went to music camp where she continued going for four years and even won a prestigious solo in the end of the year concert.
Adam Wilde- Adam is Mia’s boyfriend who she loves dearly, and Adam is a lead singer and a guitar player in his band. He is a nice, caring person. He truly loves Mia.
As the scenes are being described, remember that Mia is not really awake and walking around, it is just her subconscious. There are two scenes in the movie that express her subconscious state dramatically in their own ways. For example, Mia is wandering the hospital halls in her subconscious state and sees family rushing from the elevator towards the nurses station to ask if Mia and her family are okay. This is when Mia finds out her brother, Teddy, has died. Mia, in shock, runs through the halls crying. The camera is rushing through the busy halls and starts to blur when Mia falls to her knees in heartbreak. Suddenly, the halls are cleared and quiet as Mia sees a white light at the end of the hallway. The empty halls indicates that Mia feels nothing but emptiness and no longer wants to fight to live because she sees the white light, indicating heaven. This all changes when she hears the elevator door open and there is Adam rushing in. In this upcoming scene, Mia follows Adam back to her room. The expression on his face shows that he is in complete shock and is heartbroken. There is a quiet tone in the room as Adam sits down next to Mia and begins to whisper. Adam talks about Mia’s dream of being accepted into Juilliard, and how of an amazing person and cello player Mia is. The camera is steady and goes back and forth between both characters
