Georges Bwelle “You’re going to make a difference, a lot of times it won’t be huge, it won’t be visible even, but it will matter just the same”(Commissioner James Gordon). Today, a hero is someone who wears a cape, someone that has supernatural powers, or always is there at the perfect time to save a life. I don’t think a hero has to be someone that has comic books and movies made about them, sometimes a hero is someone that does something not for themselves but to help others out of the kindness of their heart, and that is exactly who Georges Bwelle is. Everything Bwelle does, is out of spite of helping others and that is what a hero is. Georges had made such a difference he was recognized nationally for his chain of ASCOVIME schools and hospitals in Africa. Undoubtedly, he was definitely deserving of this award, especially his aid work he has done in the recent years. A mix of Cameroonian doctors, Bwelle, and foreign medical students have performed 700 free surgeries in the past year(Meghan Dunn and Danielle Berger). Bwelle and other doctors has achieved hundreds of free surgeries saving lives of those with improper or even no medical care at all. Georges Bwelle has worked hard to achieve his feats and is most deserving of all of his accomplishments. Georges Bwelle has a vision of what he wants to leave as his legacy. In an article by the legacy project, Bwelle says "To make people laugh, to reduce the pain, that's why I'm doing this." he also says, “it’s about changing lives and making a positive impact on the lives of the people around us, making them smile.” Bwelle enjoys helping people and making them laugh; he doesn’t just do it for the publicity. Bwelle enjoys his work and he also enjoys making a legacy to leave behind. Georges has told the Legacy Project that The Legacy he Would Like To Leave is A string of ASCOVIME schools and hospitals in the rural villages of Africa to give greater opportunities to the poor and underserved populations.
