Ginkgo Clarity, Calming, And Healthy Fasting

Many teas claim that they have the potential to change your emotions, whether that be hunger, fatigueness, or stress. Many of the ingredients in these teas have been used for thousands of years for medicinal purposes before modern medicine; in fact, some teas are still used for medicinal purposes such as the “stomach tea” from Yogi Teas that “supports the stomach.” Although this claim is general, this tea that contains ginger and peppermint has been said to ease digestion.

First, the licorice in the tea contains Glycyrrhizin, an acid that makes licorice so sweet. This quenches thirst that can be misinterpreted by the body as hunger. Hunger is a primary response to a need that needs to be met; similarly, thirst is a primary response that can be confused with hunger because of their similarities. By drinking tea, you are ingesting water which can suppress these untruthful thoughts of hunger; the Glycyrrhizin aids and can help with the allusion that weight is being lost because it constrains the release of 11β-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase which gives it its anti-inflammatory aspect. The second reason the tea worked might be because of the placebo effect: because the subjects knew they were drinking a tea that would help suppress their appetite, they could have been subconsciously choosing to eat less food or healthier food; however, the data shows that they did not overall eat healthier food, just less. The percentage of carbohydrates is still over the allotted percentage after drinking the tea which means it did not help the subjects to make healthier choices.
