Introduction
The purpose of this report is to evaluate how a range of global business environment factors affect Myanmar, also known as Burma. The report will give insight into the demographics and political, economic and legal systems of Myanmar. It will explore in depth the economic growth of the country in recent years, as well as how foreign direct investment has affected the country. It aims to explain the nature and interconnectedness of factors within the global business environment with reference to theoretical concepts and models from International Business academic literature.
Myanmar
Myanmar is situated in South-East Asia, bordering India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand. Myanmar was seen as a pariah state whilst being ruled by an oppressive military leadership from 1962 to 2011. However, a gradual liberalisation process has been under way since 2010. In early 2016 there was a major shift towards democracy which will most likely show a shift in the way the country operates. This will be explored in section 2.2 of the report. (BBC News, 2016).
Demographics
Due to Myanmar’s concealed history, there is very little information on the demographics of the country.
In 2014, the first census in 30 years was performed which recorded 51.5 million residents. A census is important to a country as by knowing where people live and what education and skills they have, the appropriate investments and training can be targeted at specific regions for the people who need
Burma, or Myanmar, is close to India and mainly consists of the searing jungle. Nick, coming from London, took awhile to adjust to Burma. The atmosphere was plenty of pressure on Nick, but there is still more that’s different. For example, the culture and practices that are done in Burma. Women can’t ride elephants when women can drive a car or ride a horse in England. Another example is the furniture because of the foreign climate. “A warm breeze blew through the screened window of the bedroom, ruffling the mosquito netting.” (Smith, 20) This quote shows that mosquito netting is used in Burma because of the loose and open houses that attract mosquitoes. In the particular part of the novel, Smith uses a series
The situation depicted by Suu Kyi in Burma is of political injustices; the rights of the Burmese to free and fair elections in a democratic nation are negated by despotic leaders who do not practice the Buddhist traditions. According to Austin (82) Suu Kyi became the voice of the people and through her the masses have seen the authoritarian rule which is not acting in their best interests. King presents the social injustices that the blacks and the minorities in American society face. The

Burma is located in southeastern Asia and bordered by the Bay of Bengal to the south, Bangladesh and India to the north, China, Thailand, and Laos to the east. Today it is known as Myanmar and is home to more than 100 ethnic groups. Yangon is one of the largest cities in the country with the well-known temple of Shwedagon Pagoda, which houses many beautiful Buddhist relics. However, prior to this, Burma was actually a colony of Britain and suffered many human rights violations on the path to independence.
of today is 326,625,791. Which is placed third on the Top 10 Most Populous Countries. It’s quite
A census is an official count or survey of a population, typically recording various details of individuals. The census is taken every couple years in order to get specific details about our population. It helps to take into account the amount of people a certain town, city, or state may have as well as their race, gender, and age percentage. The census is also used to calculate the amount of people who live below the poverty line, as well as the wealthy. The data collected by the census not only determines the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives, but also is used to distribute billions in federal funds to local communities. These funds go towards schools, hospitals, public works projects, and other essentials needs that help Americans with everyday life. It is the most complete source of information about the population that we can gather.
Concerning the ethnic minorities of Burma, I believe that we are in a period where carefully analyzed humanitarian input can have a successful impact. Unlike the genocide in Darfur, we’re aware of a developing situation where large-scale genocide has not taken place yet. History further lends a hand in paralleling the cordoning in society of minorities such as the Rohingya with that of the black African minorities in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. Lessons gained in the events in Sudan should be considered in defending the minorities of Burma who are facing human rights violation.
Census: A count of the entire American population, conducted every 10 years. This is significant because it acts as a valuable tool for understanding demographic changes
As the well known American judge William Joseph Brennan Jr. once said, “Religious conflict can be the bloodiest and cruelest conflicts that turn people into fanatics.” They often lead into wars and indefinite massacres. These kind of tensions tend to occur because of a fear that grows inside a country’s majority from a significant increase of another minor ethnic or religious group. That is the case Myanmar or Burma is facing today. According to the CNN journalist Ivan Watson, the conflict is happening between Buddhists, who are estimated to cover 90% of the Myanmar population, and Muslims, who make up about only 4% of the country. The Rohingya, or the Muslim population in Myanmar are considered “one of the most persecuted groups in the world,” as the journalist of Al Jazeera America Usaid Siddiqui stated. They are facing outrageous violence and extreme boycotts against their businesses, forcing them into fleeing their houses. The conflict is standing in front of the country 's development, yet leading into migration crisis.
What is demography? Demography is the applied branch of sociology that deals with population statistics and provides information on the populations of various countries or groups of people.
What does the population in your country look like? Are they all located in cities, farms, etc.? How old are the people in your county? Is this country more populated than its
Myanmar is trying to exterminate the Rohingya Muslims and innocent people are being punished. The government/militaries are raping women, slaughtering men and children, and burning down homes. The government is murdering children who don’t even know what their crime is. This is all happening because the Muslims are staying loyal to their faith and not giving it up. Myanmar is going through genocide which is when a small group of people are being killed by a larger group of people for their religion, race, and ethnicity. The conflict in Burma is a genocide because groups of Rohingya Muslims are being targeted, this is targeting a religion, and the Muslims are thought of as criminals who deserve to be punished.
The government of Myanmar has been accused of covering up violence and genocide against its religious minorities after more than 100,000 Christians fled to Malaysia to escape religious persecution and are now living there as refugees.
The nation of Myanmar, also known as Burma, is currently under the rule of a ruthless totalitarian regime, guilty of numerous human rights violations and target of intense international criticism. Located in Southeast Asia, on the western border of Thailand and Laos, it has been under military rule since World War II. Burma is mired in socioeconomic crisis stemming from the rule of the military junta, and the citizens are suffering. The environment of Burma is being destroyed, the people are treated inhumanely, and the country is notorious for its contribution to global narcotics. The paragraphs below detail the current situations facing the country, why they came about, and the parties that are to blame for
Aggregate Growth Rates. Low or declining aggregate growth rates often weaken the debt-servicing capacity of domestic borrowers and contribute to increasing credit risk. Recessions have preceded many episodes of systemic financial distress.
