My primary goal for going to school is to be able to make my family proud and do something beneficial with my degree. Getting an education is extremely important in my family because it signifies hard work. No one in my immediate family has attended college yet and I would like to be the one that ends this cycle and graduates college. College is also important in my family because they believe that this will ensure that I will have a stable future and this is crucial to me. Going to school is essential to my goal of being able to do something beneficial with my degree in nursing. When I become a nurse I want to volunteer overseas and at home. At my college, UCF, there are many opportunities to volunteer across the world and I cannot wait
Education is very important to my parents and it is not just a means of obtaining a good job in the future, but it serves as a way to get respect and social standing in a world that is so heavily focused on societal and class statuses. Being the first generation to have gone onto higher education, the pressures, put on by my family, can sometimes be overwhelming. In fact, at times I think my parents are more excited and ready for me to graduate than I am, which can be quite comical.
Since childhood, I have always wanted to be a nurse. Nursing comes naturally for me. It is my passion to show empathy and compassion indiscriminately. I am already in a position of providing care in the role of caregiver, but a higher education will expand my scope of practice and feed my passion to grow professionally.
For my educational plans, I have a clear understanding and vision of where I want to go and who I have the desire to be. For now, I would like to graduate with my Associates in Arts degree in Nursing from Indian River State College. I believe Indian River State is an excellent place to begin my journey and recieve my education in order to better prepair myself for what is yet to come. After I recieve my Associates degree from Indian River, I plan to transfer to the University of South Florida in order to extend my education and potentially recieve my Bachelors and Masters of Science degree in Nursing.
Education has always been an important foundation upon which my family encouraged the most. Not just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but the fundamentals in life that require you to interact in society and be a part of something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to commit to values such as responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open-minded and passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in various ways. They always stress how “sometimes you need to give up something to get ahead, or how sometimes sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from yourself to get the results that you are seeking in the long run.”
To begin, my immediate family is well-educated, meaning that both of my parents received a primary education, but also went on to study and graduate from universities. I believe this factor allowed me to succeed in coming to ISU, because my parents were able to recognize the significance of their higher education and how it correlated with their careers and current lifestyle. These factors contributed to my parents instilling in me the need to receive a college education in order to have more access to future opportunities.
Ever since I was young, I was exposed to a Historically Black College or University, Jackson State University. I had always went to activities and functions such as football games, summer programs, and other special events. I did not know whether I would attend a historically Black College or University (HBCU) or not at the time. I had finally decided to go to a HBCU, and I would attend Tougaloo College in the fall to further my education. I have many goals and objectives for pursing my educational experience at a historically Black College, and I plan to achieve them.
The institution that I have decided to attend is the University of Central Florida. The main reason why I chose this school was because it will help me save money and I won’t need to travel anywhere to get my degree. Another big reason as to why I chose this school is because they have many great programs that will help me be better prepared when I begin my career such as their Modeling, Stimulation, and Training Epicenter which is used to prepare nursing students with different types of scenarios that they might face while working and also helps them work hands on rather than watching someone else do the job. UCF was also a good choice because their Medical Mission trips could help me and other nursing students travel to other places in the
I want to be a great example in my family of how an education can enhance your life. College will not only get you a degree but an entire future. College will help you earn a job and make connections with professors that can impact your life. An education will always create new opportunities that you would never have. I want to impact my community by being an example and mentoring those around
Education has always been an importance to me. Since no one in my family has been to college. I’m that person that is really relaxed and can make good decision to just about anything. One of the things that I have achieved is soccer, and I have made the high school soccer team and plan on playing for a college team. Living with four siblings my whole life was probably the best thing ever. We all grew up in California in a nice big house, we were all taught to have a really fancy manners. Everyone in my family had good grades before they graduated high school. I am proud that I have gone this far in life and would like to move on to bigger accomplishments. Although I have been through some obstacles that has pushed me down but always managed to get back up.
This school year I want to succeed in all of my classes. Especially, I want to aim for high grades in most of, if not all of my classes. I also would like to improve as a writer from last year. Overall, I want to improve my skills in all subjects and become an exceptional student overall. Another goal I would like to achieve, this year is to join a club I thoroughly enjoy and make new friends. In addition, I would like to try my best and stop fighting with my sister as much. Although this is a more simplistic goal, I find that my family gets especially annoyed with us when we fight and it causes so much tension. I feel it would help if we fight less. I am positive that if I put my mind to it, I can accomplish any goal I set for myself. By
My entire life I have seen my family, including my parents, struggle to pay bills and provide for their families. Not one person in my family went to college because their parents simply could not afford to send them. This, along with wanting to inspire others, make my parents proud, and to be self-reliant is why I am pursuing a higher education. I want to be successful, so much so that I will be able to help my family and future children with living and financial problems. I will make it more than possible to send my children and their children to college so that they may follow their dreams and inspire others. In addition, I want to inspire my students to excel in school so that they may be able to pursue all of their hopes and dreams as
Apart from the characteristics that form the way my family conducts, there is a belief that everyone in my nuclear family is to value and follow the steps towards a higher education. My mother and my father are the first one’s to achieve their Masters degrees. My father was a former police officer for numerous years who retired and became a teacher. My mother was a college professor at Fullerton College for 45 years.
Above all, my personal goals are to learn as much as I can and make my family and myself proud of what I’ve accomplished. I’ve realized that college is a great opportunity to further my education and I want to take advantage of that by taking in as much knowledge as possible. The reason for this goal is to know that I did the very best I could when I graduate college. Not only will that make me proud but it will make my family proud too. Staying motivated, focused, and determined is going to be the key to
An obvious goal as a working adult returning to school is, of course, to earn a degree. My overall goal is no different than any other student, however, I also have several personal goals I hope to achieve while attending the University. Some of these goals are to acquire new skills and enhance my current business abilities, to apply what I learn in the classroom to forward my career, and to feel personal satisfaction of finishing something I started.
For my mother and father education is very important they see it as a form of success. My mother unfortunately didn’t have the opportunity to study further than the 9th grade and my father had to quit his first year of college to support his family financially. The purpose of my education is to make a living and to have a better opportunity in the workforce
