I’ve taken part in baseball since I was 3 years old, it is by far my favorite sport. It truly holds something very special to me, because I look forward to it each year. When the season ends I enjoy it for about 2 weeks off, but then realize I’m not going to have another team practice til next year. My 9th grade year of sports took a turn of events when I tore my meniscus during football season. I had surgery March 8th of 2017. I couldn’t play that season and I was pretty depressed seeing all my buddies play. I remember hobbling over to meet Coach Boom and introducing myself saying I could help out doing stats for him. I tried to keep myself involved but it was hard not playing and just sitting on bench watching my family

The sport that I have dedicated the most time to, golf, has become a part of me—in my soul. To me, golf is more than a sport; it is a lifelong journey of training to temper myself both mentally and physically. Playing golf opens my eyes to observe the world in a unique way, and it lets me taste the bliss of striving. The Georgia State Golf Championship in my sophomore year was one of the most memorable experiences that influenced me, not only by contributing to my interest in golf, but also by building my character and teaching me life lessons. It did not push me to the road of being a professional golfer, but it instilled the spirits of a golfer within me.

I have worked on my family farm ever since I was fourteen years old. This is where I have gained my love of agriculture. My responsibilities include taking care of my show calves, working cattle, helping with harvesting and planting, and assisting my father with any other needs around the farm. The experiences I have gained through working on my family’s farm will help lead me through the rest of my life.

Regardless of what other pro athletes view on the game are, golf is a very competitive and highly paid sport. Tournaments are held at different times of the year in different parts of the world by hundreds of pro golfers. These tournaments can have prize money of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

My father is going to retire in some years and my mother is a house wife. They both have invested in their house heavily therefore these reasons might affect my family’s ability to fund my college tuition.

A young person should strive to support their local community for various reasons. Engaging in community service provides people with the opportunity to become active members of their community and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large. Community service and volunteerism enables one to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those who need it most.

There are many good athletes in professional sports today. There are many good athletes in college sports today also. Some of the biggest names in sports are Mark McGwire, Steve Young, Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, and so on. Now, imagine if all of those players never made it to the pros. What would happen to professional sports? Why are they in the pros now? To make it into professional sports you need more than just talent. You need opportunity. College scholarships not only give athletes the opportunity to reach the professional ranks, but also give the chance for many players to earn a degree in higher education.

Being diagnosed with cancer has impacted my outlook on life in many different ways. At first I saw cancer as a burden on my life and only the negative attributes stood out on how it was going to change my life and the way I saw people around me, but now after being two years cancer free, I have gone to realize the positive aspects cancer has had on my life.

When I first came to Lake Highland in seventh grade my parents wanted me to be on a team to get to know people and the only sport I knew was golf. I came to the tryouts with no experience of tournaments, hammy down clubs from my sister, and not appropriate golf attire. I tried very hard for the team, but I did I didn't have the skills to make it on. It was very devastating for me because I have never been turned down before, but I knew that I had to change. After this failure I decided that I should try harder in golf. I never did take the sport seriously and barely practiced, but after being turned down I decided to step up my game. It just always seemed like something that I had to do. Ever since I was ten years old I’ve been playing, practicing, and talking about golf. I always have had a love for the game, but I never really thought about how stressful and painful it made my life. Even at ten I thought my future had already been planned for me. I was already thinking of life as a professional golfer. I was certain that I would go play golf for a big college, and instant fame would soon follow. It wasn’t until the last couple of years that life has changed for me.

All men are said to be created equal, in my opinion, not all men. Some have a drive that's greater than most. Everyone wants an Athletic-Scholarship, but not everyone is willing to put in the time, effort, commitment, dedication and preservation to be the best Student-Athlete representing their school. For every good in life comes a sacrifice. Nothing valuable is going to come to you and to obtain something of such value you have to be willing to take a risk. In my life, I’ve taken many risk, some that were life changing and change who I am today. Many of my peers take risks and regret taking them down the line. Taking this risk gave me more time to think about how I wanted to move forward in regards to my future, getting more involved in my community/activities, and dedicate more time into my current task on become a better student-athlete.
