Grade Recovery There are many events that contributed to WWI. MAIN was a big part of WWI. The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand also played a big part because he was the key of the war being started. There were also many causes of the Great Depression. MAIN played a big part in many ways. Militarism played a big part because every country wanted to have the best military. Alliances were formed together to become more powerful. In the poem “Alliances” it says, “Why is it so easy for a group of ants to hang out together without playing favorites, without making one feel out of place”. One cause was the over spending on materialistic things. Another reason was investing in the stock market, being greedy for money. Banks were giving out too many loans and people weren’t paying the loans back. When the stock market crashed many people lost everything homes, jobs, etc. In the poem “Pantoum of the Great Depression” it says, “It was the ordinary pities and fears consumed us. We gathered on porches; the moon rose; we were poor.” This relates to the Great Depression because everyone was poor and losing money. In the poem the author only speaks about one part of the Great Depression and doesn’t evaluate the whole situation of it. Franklin Roosevelt tried his hardest to get them out of the depression. He came up with many different organizations that helped bring them out of the hole they dug. The organizations were the Social Security Act, Works Progress Administration, Civilian Conservation Corps. These were known as the New Deal. These were very good ways to help Americans get out of the depression he showed his loyalty by helping the ones who needed it. These were the factors of WWI and the Great Depression. This showed what happened and the obstacles they faced in this time period. People were in a serious depression around this time because of the war and no money so they had to
