I am proud that tonight I am up here representing the Flowing Wells graduating class of twenty sixteen. Each of us took our own journey to get where we are tonight. Some of us have known each other since the first day of kindergarten, and some joined us in Junior High. Others joined us as we were awkward freshmen trying to open our lockers. Some joined us as sophomores when we thought we ran the school. Junior year a few more came in when we finally hit our stride and could see the light at the end of the tunnel. A lucky few made the choice to join us as seniors to be part of the best graduating class: twenty sixteen. No matter when we joined this amazing family we have been creating memories together. These memories will persist long after we leave this wonderful place. So my question to you is when looking back on high school what will your best memory be? Is it the time that we threw so much confetti at our A plus assembly that we found it on the highway? Is it any of the amazing classes that are offered here because of our amazing administration? Is it when against all odds you passed that test that you thought you had no hope for? Whatever your memory may be make it a good one, because after tonight we stop making memories about high …show more content…
And when many of our high school memories begin to fade, we'll ultimately measure the time we spent here, not in periods or semesters or years, but in the friendships that we made and the times we shared
I am an active member of my school and community. At school I feel that i've gained the respect of my peers being elected as Student Council representative for the past four years. I have also been elected the treasurer of the choir, and secretary of the band. I am part of the Ross Middle School bucket drumming group and have been casted as part of the school theatre’s annual play. After school on Wednesdays I assist Ms. Rullman in helping students with homework and enhancing study methods. I am currently participating in science olympiad and have in the past. I am also an anchor on the popular Good Morning Ross Middle School weekly news show. In addition, I have been a part of National Junior Honor Society which takes part in service projects
In David Foster Wallace’s graduation speech to the Kenyon College Class in two thousand five, This is water, he uses logical and emotional appeals to discuss the importance of critical thinking. He uses the term “conscious” to signal critical thinkers, while those who do not think critically are referred to as “unconscious”. Throughout life we go through different experiences that teach us how to deal with everyday trials and tribulations. Therefore, Structuralism will be the literary theory that will be used to describe how Wallace uses human experiences to explain the truths of everyday life.
Almost a year ago I started my first day of high school, to some people that may seem like one of the least important days of their life, but for me it made me realize that it was going to be the last year I walk through those doors to attend class, and the last time I step out onto the soccer field with some of my closest friends. As I walked through the double doors that would officially start my last year at USA High School, I looked up and my entire graduating classes names were posted up on the wall, where soon our pennants of the colleges we were going to attend would hang. High school holds some of the happiest memories for some people, from times they were at Friday night football games with their best friends, or late-night adventures they went on, but for me it was being on the soccer team. Throughout my entire high school career, I was happiest when out on the field, playing against local schools with the people I have gotten so close to over the years.
In David Foster Wallace’s commencement speech “This is Water”, Wallace discusses multiple aspects and instances that will come before us. To begin, Wallace’s speech elaborates to us most importantly that we are not the center of the world. For instance, Wallace states in his speech that a vast majority of the information he tends to be certain in usually results in being completely wrong. An example of this wrong highlighted in this speech is that Wallace states that everything his experience supports the belief that his self is the center of the universe. Relating this to Naikan, Naikan helps the client to consider what they have given to a specific person and what troubles they have caused them. The reason why is to consider one’s perception and the impact they have on others which is not conceived through selfish encounters. This helps Naikan clients to distinguish what positive changes they can implement after introspecting on their relationships and interactions with others.
‘This is Water’ was originally a commencement speech, delivered by David Foster Wallace, to the graduates of Kenyon College in 2005, the speech was reprinted in the form of a book following his death in 2009. The title of this speech comes from a cliché anecdote about two young fish who were swimming in the ocean, and they pass an older fish who says to them, “morning boys, how’s the water?”, the two fish look at one another and say, “what the hell is water?”. The meaning behind this anecdote is that, most people live their lives and and don’t see the forest for the tree’s. This is me piling my own cliché anecdote on top of DFW’s
David Wallace gave a unique commencement speech to the 2005 graduating class at Kenyon College. This is Water was not a typical commencement speech a person would except to hear at a college graduation. Nonetheless, Wallace’s speech help deliver the reality of how a typical adult life goes. It helped me realize that paying attention to others is vitally important
Senior year rapidly is coming to an end, I’ve had the opportunity to see many of my friends come to the exciting moment in their life when they sign that dotted line and I was still waiting on my chance. My entire life I had dreamt of the day to finally committed to a college basketball team, this was my goal and it had to be my purpose in life. January 18, 2015 at 4:41 PM I got an exciting text from Truett-Mcconnell’s head coach, Matt Sanders, stating,” Good afternoon Claudia this is Coach Sanders from Truett-Mcconnell College, and I really feel like we need to begin the recruiting process with you! Sorry to bother you on a Sunday, but I just didn’t want to let time slip away! I look forward to hearing back from you!” Here was my chance!
Welcome to Mt. Edgecumbe High School! Coming here, far away from home may be nerve-racking, but you just got accepted to one of the best schools in Alaska. Not everyone who applied got accepted, which is why you shouldn’t take this opportunity for granted. Attending MEHS, Mount Edgecumbe High School, is way different from being at home; for instance, you’re not living with your parents anymore and you have to teach yourself to be independent. This may seem frightening, but by coming here you can get a better education than from where you live, which is why I encourage you to stay all four years. Since you’re a MEHS Brave now, I am going to tell you some things that I personally like and dislike about MEHS. I will also tell you what to expect while you’re
When I look back on my senior year, I have realized that I have been many places. This year has brought me hard times, new friendships and great opportunities.
First graduating class has quite a nice ring to it but when I was in middle school I never imagined it would be about me. Senior year has so many different meanings to me but the one that stands out the most is remembrance. So much of my life was spent doing school work for hours on end or talking to my friends on the phone about something trivial. I didn’t ever think to look back on how I impacted those around me or if I was actually living my life instead of just going through the motions. I thought I had so much time left in high school but when the letter in the mail came for senior portraits I knew that my time was up.
During the last three years of my attendance here at Mt. Edgecumbe High School, I could not think of a teacher who has influenced me more than yourself. You’ve taught me to not only appreciate music, but to appreciate life. I’ve spent a total of four semesters in your Choir class and one semester in your Accounting class. We’ve traveled to two music festivals through Choir class, which are two of my most memorable experiences here in MEHS. I’ve also been apart of the MEHS award-winning Radio Club under your supervision. You’ve certainly witnessed my development as a maturing adult. It would be an honor to have a letter of recommendation from a teacher like yourself. Thank you for making my high school years enjoyable. If you choose to write
Throughout my time at Andalusia High School there are a variety of memories I can reflect on, and things I wish I would’ve done differently. The memories that made my time here very memorable were the ones spent with my friends, and taking interest in things that I never would’ve became fond of.

Each one of us on their current life has elated and ecstatic moments that will often be recalled to your mind. However, there are these special times that will be recollected deeply in your heart and it will never be forgotten. In fact, I have many blissful memories, but the one I recollect the most is authentically my 8th-grade graduation which took place on June 19th, 2017.
English class seemed to be the most dreadful to take within school. Writing essays for most of my grade in a class is not what I was looking forward too. When I entered college I knew that it would be one of many challenging classes I would have to take. Starting from the lowest English class to moving on up, the writing assignments became longer and more thought out. The time came when I got into this class that I knew more work was going to have to be put into essays and thus brought out what I had not seen before in my work progress.
