Last Words Nobody could have been more elated. Nobody could have been more hyper. Not one soul. It was the day that every growing, aspiring 6th Grader had waited for. That day was Promotion Day. The morning started off with an arduously long ceremony, filled with farewell speeches, awards, and of course, parent photo addicts. After sitting on a blue, plastic bench for what seemed like countless hours, I finally danced towards my homeroom with my crisp, new, elaborately decorated promotion certificate. I took a long, good look at it. The borders were intricately painted with gold paint, and the large glittering words, saying Certificate of Promotion gleamed under the sun. An aureate sticker with the school mascot was placed on the bottom …show more content…
The board looked pretty similar to those puzzling paintings made by abstract expressionists. When I was munching on a slice of hot, oily pizza, I heard a conversation that I could tell was between Vanessa and someone else. “Wait, you aren’t going to Horner next year?”, someone asked. “No, I won’t be at Horner next year. I’m not too sure why.” Vanessa replied. “Wait, so we won’t see you as much anymore?” “No. I know it really, sucks but, that’s kind of what happens.” I stopped eating and put down my half-eaten slice of pie. Wait, I have not told her that I kind of liked her yet, I think. But then, it really isn’t much of a big deal, I don’t like her that much to be worrying about this. Think again Quinn, this was probably the last time I would see her, at least for a long while. Just as I was pondering, Will came back with another slice of pizza. This gave me something else to think about rather than making such a personal decision. I decided to let the time pass as I sat with the rest my friends for a farewell lunch. After the students spent their final hours masticating on pizzas, fooling around with the photobooth, and taking as many pictures as possible, my teacher called the class in for a final word. The speech was simple and as expected, You all have been one of my best classes, I will miss you all very much, have a great summer, and
Families and friends welcome to Montgomery Village Middle School 8th grade promotional ceremony. Today we embark on a new chapter of our lives as we end our middle school careers. We’ve spent the past three years of our lives in this wonderful place. We were given the opportunity to grow and learn. Our teachers, one of our biggest supporters, the ones we have built relationships with. Our teachers have seen us grow. They have been our guiding hands throughout our middle school career. The teachers in this school deserve the world. They motivate us each and every one of us each day. Most of us were able to mature throughout middle careers. We’ve grown aware of our surroundings. We’re all well aware of what’s to come as we open the next chapter
It was the last day of school where we got our report cards and it stated what our 6th grade classroom would be. I was a very weak student and I ended up in a place that wasn’t my best. People have made so many comments and put so many labels, but I pushed myself to change. Ever since this moment I have worked hard to make a change. I’ve had put so much pressure on myself and now I have the honor of being the one to stand here, in front of all of you as your Valedictorian.
Dear administrators, teachers, parents, beloved friends, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 8th grade graduation. It’s a pleasure to be standing in front of you today on this beautiful day to express the happiness we all feel.
My senior year started off just like any other school year it was calm and there wasn’t much in the news. Lancaster was always a quiet community until this past year. Back home there has been a lot of controversy about the high school mascot name; Redskins. Across the nation this name has thought to be cruel and racist. Even though 62 high schools across the United States still use the name and a very popular football team called the Washington Redskins. The word redskin means an American Indian, Red man or Red Indian. For 63 years this name has been apart of the Lancaster High School tradition. They named the mascot redskin in honor of the land that used to be owned by Native Americans. This wasn’t
Your Honor, Sir. Breana’s proudest moment as a person is when she obtained an honor roll certificate last year. She had a hard time with understanding the teacher, but she slowly and gradually grasped the concept. Her hard work paid off as she got all A’s and B’s. Breana’s strenuous time with her school’s curriculum made her feel very angered, but she pushed herself to the limits and ended up having the joy of spectacular
Addressing the people who disagree with me, whom feel the name of the school and the mascot should represent this city in the past, I understand and respect why you made that decision in your own opinion, so please try to understand and respect my opinion. I feel as if our city should be shown off for our amazing accomplishments, just like any other city, but we need something that anyone can comprehend. Visitors from out of town would not recognize anything from our past and disregard it as if it wasn’t important. But, if we were to have something from present day, something that makes our city famous, so everyone will recognize our intentions, and understand what our wonderful city has done in the past. Hopefully with my decision we’ll be able to share amazing stories of our great city, and be proud of where we came from.
Moors hand and took he degree. She smiled and gave me a little wave. “Cameron Anderson.” Cameron took him degree and threw his arms up in the air and shouted. “Paul Shank.” Paul walked up to the stage and grabbed his graduation degree and shouted “I never thought I would make it this far”. Which caused everybody in the auditorium to laugh. “Hunter Basola” hunter approached the stage and accepted his degree along with the sash he was given for achieving salutatorian. “Gavin Wills.” I walked up to Mr. Moore and shook his hand as he handed me my high school degree. Mr. Moore pulled me aside while the valedictorian was giving his speech and said “I read your paper you wrote in 8th grade while in Mr. Kroesch class, you should look into becoming a writer.” He told
Senior year rapidly is coming to an end, I’ve had the opportunity to see many of my friends come to the exciting moment in their life when they sign that dotted line and I was still waiting on my chance. My entire life I had dreamt of the day to finally committed to a college basketball team, this was my goal and it had to be my purpose in life. January 18, 2015 at 4:41 PM I got an exciting text from Truett-Mcconnell’s head coach, Matt Sanders, stating,” Good afternoon Claudia this is Coach Sanders from Truett-Mcconnell College, and I really feel like we need to begin the recruiting process with you! Sorry to bother you on a Sunday, but I just didn’t want to let time slip away! I look forward to hearing back from you!” Here was my chance!
“Yes mom,” I replied. I already knew this was going badly and I was going to have a long boring spring break.
We are all leaving the nest and flying in different directions. Some of us will move on to a school just across campus, while others will leave to a school thirty minutes away from here. I know we are all anxious and excited to be leaving the building that some of us have been practically living in since kindergarten. I have created so many memorable moments here that I will never forget. Today, I ask you to look around you. Who do see before you? I see parents that have worked hard to give us the opportunity to learn and are now so proud of our growth. I see teachers who have taught us so much more that just Algebra or English. Then, I see us, the formal leaders of the school. We are known as the eight graders, but I see us as a giant 40 person family. We are united by the common factor of our graduation. So today as we receive our much-coveted diplomas in our navy cap and gowns, I ask you to indulge in these last following days with your fellow
“Nah, you know, Josh, I’m not all that into just staying here.” She gave the impression that she wanted to go.
Tensions are high… Peddie has our cup and we want it back. Is it not rightfully ours? Every athlete has worked hard for it and every Blair student has anticipated its return to its home since it left for hightstown last fall. Our victory is inevitable and every Buc knows it. School Spirit is at its peak with the rally and bonfire in less than 24 hours from now.
Nothing could beat this moment, there was no higher anticipation than what was about to happen. It was the first Friday of the school year and everyone came to school in spirit wear. Girls were wearing bright, shimmering gold jewelry that could be seen from across the room. With the gold jewelry, they wore fierce purple colored shirts and a variety of different styled jeans. As for the guys, a couple went all out and wore purple wigs and others wore purple shirts that varied in the sport written across the front. The energy throughout the halls was undeniable and when the pep rally began, everyone was on their feet.
Hello everyone! My name's Ally Ward and I'm a senior at South Stanly High School. Currently I'm taking CCP courses with SCC, so that I'll have two years under my belt when I start college. I plan to attend Gardner-Webb University this Fall and major in English with a teaching license. After I receive my major I plan to get my doctorate in English and then get a job as an English professor. I also love to read, shoot archery, ride horses, and spend time with my family.
So … snaps fingers … wow! This is a lot of people. Well, first off, congratulations everyone; you all made it this far. Hopefully you will be able to make through this speech. According to page ten of the Chisago Lakes High School Student Handbook, all of you have earned at least 28 credits in a variety of disciplines throughout the last four years. And for those English nerds out there, I do have a properly formatted works cited page if you would like to fact-check me. Don’t worry.
