I’d like to start off by thanking everyone involved in me being here today. Not just on this stage, but here mentally in my life. The fans are especially a big part of why and how i’m here today. For every young girl who’s ever came to one of our games and desires to get here in life, I know how you felt. I remember my dad alway bringing me to USSSA softball games and watching every move they made so I could be just like them. You guys are the reason why I get up every morning and go to practice every night, no matter the aching. While many of you voted for me to win this award, there are definitely still people who would’ve never voted for me in a million years. But those people don’t matter in life. Those people shouldn’t have an affect
I wanted to thank you for allowing me to come by yesterday to see your venue, as well as to discuss options for our event. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future and for the possibility of working with you.

Emerson once wrote that "Unless you do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow." By stating this quote, Emerson is trying to help us understand that doing more than what we are comfortable with doing, will help us grow more as an individual. Going above and beyond in school, our work, and sports will help us grow, because we are pushing our brain, and body to do more than it has always done. How often do we say that we do not understand a topic, just because we do not want to actually think about it? Many times in the past, high school students will whine and fuss about not understanding the material within the class because they simply just do not care to push themselves to think past what they know. If we do not understand the material, nor do we ask for help, this will
Yesterday marked the ending of 4 LONG years! Through all the mistakes and hardships I've faced, I can proudly say I finally made it! I am so excited to start college in the Fall to Bethune-Cookman University on a full tuition scholarship. I am extremely proud of all my classmates and so thankful for my family and friends. Thank you God for this opportunity many don't get to enjoy. I can't wait to see all God has in store for me!
On behalf of Pawleys Front Porch we would like to congratulate you and your players on the outstanding 2016-2017 basketball season. Through the highs and lows of the season you stayed dedicated to your team, motivating them to be the best that they can be. We took notice of the relentless effort your team showed all season, never giving up on a game and always determined to finish strong. How you were able to encourage this team to fight day after day drawing out their true potential was second to none.
I am an active member of my school and community. At school I feel that i've gained the respect of my peers being elected as Student Council representative for the past four years. I have also been elected the treasurer of the choir, and secretary of the band. I am part of the Ross Middle School bucket drumming group and have been casted as part of the school theatre’s annual play. After school on Wednesdays I assist Ms. Rullman in helping students with homework and enhancing study methods. I am currently participating in science olympiad and have in the past. I am also an anchor on the popular Good Morning Ross Middle School weekly news show. In addition, I have been a part of National Junior Honor Society which takes part in service projects
I’m a fourth year varsity soccer player at an all-boys private school of less than 550 students. Despite our small enrollment, for athletics we play in the division of the largest schools, mainly ones with enrollments over 2000 students. We can argue the fairness of our placement as long as we like, but it won’t change our position. We have to accept the challenge of playing larger schools.
Throughout the semester, while reading the For the Record documents, my mind always wandered back to one central idea: humans too easily dehumanize one another. Many of documents illuminate injustice and reflect how the author respected or disrespected other humans. The documents show who the author deemed human. It makes me wonder, when in my life have I either intensely valued another human or ignored the humanity of another?
Stars: I attended Lee High School in Huntsville, AL for 4 years. As a general, I participated in many varsity sports, but anyone who knows me knows my favorite is football. Looking in as an 8th grader the varsity team at Lee was pretty good under head coach Kinte Welch; however, finally graduating and becoming a part of the team my freshman through junior year was pretty awful. Our program was awful because of many reasons, but you can 't blame it all on the head coach. Ending my junior season, we 'd maybe won 4 games in 3 seasons. At the beginning of baseball season my junior year the athletic department decided to release him from his head coach position. After many potential coaches filled out for the position our principle filled the spot. He was familiar with the football in our area and he also coaches at a rival school Huntsville High School. Coach Woods has been around football all his life also playing linebacker at the University of Arkansas. Woods taking over and hiring a new staff made our life so much easier. The senior class who came in as a freshman, and stuck through the tough times help lead the team to the 6A playoffs after not being a contender for the last 10 years. I played a huge role as a defensive captain and we were ranked one of the top defenses in our region. As a three-year starter for the Generals, we turned the whole program around my senior season and made it to the second round of the playoffs where we lost to a power house.
Congratulations on your Joey Award. All the Hope Valley kids won for When Calls the Heart, and I'm glad I was there to see
I remember the people that believed in me. I remember the people that didn’t believe in me. I remember the frustration that coursed through my body when I didn’t meet mine and others expectations of me. Most of all I remember this feeling. This feeling of complete and absolute triumph. The feeling of being the best in the state. The feeling that I gave my heart to softball, and softball gave me this back. The feeling that the hours upon hours of practice and hundreds of tears and sweat finally paid off. My mom calls for me. It’s time to go home. Things return to normal, and I forget the feelings that flooded me that day for the moment as I go out to celebrate. Because, hey we are 2016 South Dakota State
“It was an incredible experience to see all of the accomplishments of the award winners, not just in their respective sports but in the classroom and community as well,” said Hensley. “Every single athlete had a unique impact on their school and community. I was so humbled to be included in such an ambitious group of individuals.”
As I stared out into the clouds, flying to Kirkland Washington with my teammates, to play in the Junior league 14U Softball World Series, I had a vision that one day I would play softball at the next level. Thriving at the World Series against Alaska, Puerto Rico, Virginia, and Czech Republic led me realize that the possibilities were high for me to continue to follow my dreams of attending a university and earn my degree while playing softball. The Lord had big plans in store for me. I am a firm believer in anything is possible. As I continued throughout this vigorous journey to play at the next level, I faced many obstacles and challenges in which shaped my development to understand that academics plays an important role of being successful
I was told by Kristin that you will be visiting Washington! How exciting! I hope you get the chance to explore Seattle, it’s a beautiful city. In addition, I have great news for NEW Leadership- WSU, we have decided that instead of doing a jeopardy game, we will be doing a scavenger hunt. The reason is one, we don’t have the budget that we anticipated for the purchase of the game, and two, the scavenger hunt is a great opportunity to engage the students into the community and learn about women’s history while being active and working as a team.
