as long as I can remember I have been interested in things like sketching drawing painting computers and anything to do with arts and crafts. I have always been interested in arts and crafts since I was a child. I used to sit and draw images and people in most of my free time. As I got older, and technology advanced I started finding ways to make my sketches and characters more detailed by use of computer applications. This is where my interest in the graphic design field first blossomed. I would spend hours upon hours trying new things and designing flyers and postcards. All the while, honing and sharpening my skills. It wasn't until my senior year in high school and entering college that I have found that there was a career which incorporates these things. I can actually get paid to do what I love. That career is graphic design. Graphic design was a good career path that same instantly like something that I would enjoy doing for the rest of my life but upon researching it I found even more reasons to pursue this career field. This is a job that never gets boring every day is something new flexible hours most of the time you're your own boss and have creative control over everything you do. Every day there's something new and …show more content…
The bulk of my business now consists of party flyers, business cards, government campaign signs, real estate posts, etc. On average I do about 5 to 7 designs per day, five days a week and bring home about $1,500 every week. As a graphic designer, I am an independent contractor, so I collect all of my money in full and am responsible for paying taxes on my on every year. Not like the average job where the taxes are deducted from my check in advance. I have to be really responsible when dealing in a cash business like this because failure to keep up with taxes can result in heavy fines and even jail
When I began College at Colorado State University Pueblo with the intention to become a teacher I took a wide variety of art classes. From painting to ceramics to photography. I fell in love over and over and over again, and consider myself a jack of all trades. However I was drawn intensely into the world of Digital Art. There I felt I was able produce sharp, clean images that could easily be reprinted and sold again. I quickly
“I feel sorry for the person who can't get genuinely excited about his work. Not only will he never be satisfied, but he will never achieve anything worthwhile” (Walter Chrysler). Deciding on what one wants to be in life can prove to be a demanding task. There are so many, yet limited, different opportunities in the world to have an excellent career and make a decent living while doing something one loves. It is limited because there are only a few specific career paths that someone could take to make good money. It is very difficult to make a fulfilling living being a garbage man. There are many different opportunities because, within these specific careers, there are usually various paths to take. Someone who has dreams to be a
I picked this career path because I enjoy drawing. I also enjoy designing and mapping out structures. I find both of these activities to be very peaceful and fun for me. When I was eight years old, I had the biggest set of Legos. I decided to use them all on one huge house. So I sat down, began to build and I even started mapping it out on paper. I spent nearly an entire day building this mansion and of course, when I was done, I showed my mom. When I showed it to her, she was amazed and the next sentence she spoke was one that stuck with me for years. My mom told me I should be an architect. That moment Nine years ago made me realize what I wanted to do in the future. I thought if designing buildings is a career, that’s what I’m going to do. Becoming an architect when I get out of school is a life-long goal of
To further elaborate, individuals in the social aspect are the helpers on the career field. Individuals with an artistic work interest are known as the creators on the career field. Furthermore, individuals in the investigative work interest are known as the inquisitive thinkers. Each of the three work interests contribute to determine the occupations that would best suit my passions. Much to my surprise, however, I discovered that I am most suitable to peruse a career as a college professor – more specifically with a concentration in art. I can understand how my work interests equated to an art professor – after all, an individual in pursuit of this occupation would need to work well with people, acquire artistic abilities, and provide proficient teaching methods in an investigative manner – nevertheless, I do not agree that I should peruse a career in this
My parents encouraged me to go into healthcare, because there is good money to be made in those fields, however I have always had a love for reading. I haven’t always loved to write though. The passion for creating my own works of art came at a later age… the fourth grade. I had a teacher that would give us the craziest writing prompts everyday. It let me open up and get creative with writing.
Throughout my life, I’ve wanted to be many things. An astronaut, a princess, a doctor, a lawyer, and at one point in my life the president. Now that I am older and much more mature. I still haven’t decided what I wanted to be. When I first started my high school career, I was terrified. I didn’t know what I wanted to be. So I decided to try new things. I’ve been with choir ever since I was in the sixth grade, so I thought I would give it shot, and try something new. I started to take drama and art. I soon found out, that I wasn’t great at either of those things. I had stage fright and I sucked at drawing. But, I didn’t give up. I stayed with choir, drama, art, and basketball. Now that I am a senior and ready to graduate, I have found out I
When I asked myself what I was I going to be when I got older, I had no answer. This made me realize that I had to make a decision and I had to make one fast. An area of study I have always been interested in is business. My dreams as a child have always been to become the President of The United States or an owner of a business. Working for a business would be intresting, but owning one would be more fulfilling. I would be able to expand my imagination by coming up with new ideas and control the company as a whole. I love designing and creating different things that make people happy, and if one day I became an owner of a company that produced products that satisfied people, that would make me happy. I soon came to the conclusion that in
Isn't it everyone’s dream to have a job where we love it so much it’s our hobby and not really our job? Well, at least it has been for me, wanting to become a dental hygienist. I don't really want to do it for the money (although it is pretty decent pay), but the work environment and what you are providing for others. The satisfaction you get when you can make someone smile or make them feel confident about their smile. And “boy oh boy”, is there a story behind on how I found a hobby/part-time. I have. I'm pretty sure that we’ll have heard the saying "We are going to end up doing what we hate the most", and well this is what happen in my situation.
“These days I live in three worlds: my dreams, and the experiences of my new life, which trigger memories from the past." Trying new jobs you don't enjoy will cause you to dream of what you’d rather be doing, and this will lead you to find a passion. The tricky part is pursuing your passion and following up on it. Putting yourself out there and taking new opportunities will expand your horizon. Finding your passion and calling takes time, it won’t happen overnight. As long as you are constantly active in what you feel is your passion; sooner or later you’ll find your calling and all it has to
For my senior project I ventured into two different possible careers I held an interest in. I adventured in the art career field and am determining if would be a viable future. This project also helped me determine whether I wanted a future career with domesticated companion animals or wildlife, both of which I love but needed to determine a career focus upon.
Even though many people have said to me that it is alright not to know what I want to do, I still worry about it. Recently I have thought that either graphic design or architecture would be nice because I enjoy designing things, but I am not sure that either of those things would actually make me happy. I know I want to be able to enjoy my job and make enough money to have a good home and support a family, but with both of those careers I would most likely be required to move away to find a job. That is something I would really rather not do.
My interest in graphic design was sparked around the age of 12. I began to notice that visuals captured most of my attention; whether that is the packaging of products, book covers, magazines, and advertising in general. It all became intriguing to me. My father has a side job that consists of him making designs to put on T-shirts or with logos companies send him. I’d often watch him use
Although my career trade is to become a material handler, I also have a love to pursue a career in painting /construction worker. I would like use or consider this to my second career option. My loves for painting begin in school in art class when I had to do painting projects. I would get so excited and when I got older, I would help my parents paint various room around the house. I was so good at it until family members would ask me to paint rooms for them. This was my little job on the side because they would pay me for doing what I love to do. Painting is one of those jobs that I do not mind doing because it relaxes me and gives me a peace of mind.
My occupation of choice is web designer, and I chose this because even though I don’t know everything about computers I am very fast at learning about them. It’s never too late to start this occupation and I know if I put time and effort into this\ I know I will love it and I can be good at it. As a web designer I will create and keep up with websites, including the layout, and function according to the client. (Web Developer) Web designing has really developed over time ever since the “World Wide Web” was created and it has visually improved as well as the speed and mobility. The requirements for this occupation vary with what kind of work that they do, they can range from a high school diploma to a bachelor’s degree. Though
The career that intrigues me is elementary education, which is kindergarten through 8th grade. I am engrossed in this career because I have little siblings that I had to teach them things like reading, math, and writing properly. Also, I just love, love, love little kids and to watch them grow. My personality goes with this career because I am a very kind and considerate person and I like people. My values go with this career because I like having the defiance and the opportunity to do my work in new ways and with independence and diversity. Also, I like feat which is having the feeling that what I do in my work is crucial and making a contribution. Lastly I value my workplace and having the pleasure of working in a satisfying, attractive work space where the supervisors and co-workers are supportive and friendly. I expect that being a teacher at a school will have all these conditions. Kindergarten and elementary school teachers work in public or private schools. Seeing students develop new skills and learn information can be very rewarding.
