“Hey Girl! How’s it going?” It takes everything in me not to cringe at the word choice. A few years ago, I wouldn’t have had any problem with it. Then again, me from a few years ago is far different from me of today. Flowing hair down to my elbows, ridiculous amounts of jewelry, light layer of makeup every day, and pink. So much pink. That was my life.
Growing up in Theresa was an experience that will live with me until the day I die. Theresa is a town with a population of roughly 2,000 people and it is very rural. Theresa is a blue collar community where everyone works hard and everyone plays hard. I saw this 24/7 at home. It was a small town. Everyone knew what was going on with everything in the town. The town of Theresa was basically one giant family. I went to school their from Kindergarten through 4th grade. The school was three blocks from my house and I would walk to school and back every single day. I usually had people who would walk with me. Some of those people I am still friends with to this very day. This was were I got my very first taste of school and first taste of friendship. One friend that I have made in Theresa is standing up in my wedding in July. Growing up their was a blessing for so many reasons. Probably for reasons I may realize later in life.
Coming of age really pursaues Taylor, she was given a new responsibility of taking care of Turtle. She knew what she wanted to do in life and chased it. Even though she was given many obstacles, she handled them maturily and became a great mother along the way. In my eyes, taking on a child in a unsuspected way takes courage and only a grown person handles so well. Lou Anne is Taylor's best friend and roomate. When we first met Lou Anne during this journey she wasn't so sure of herself or what she was worth. Lou Anne allowed people to walk over her and wouldn't speak up for herself. As she beame friends with Taylor and let go of her husband, Angel, she started to do things for herself. She learned she could have her own opinion and had a purpose.

In 1986 my mother divorced my father and moved my brother and I from a small town in Pennsylvania to a small town in New Jersey. My mother chose this particular town because of its close proximity to family members. The house my mother grew up in and that my grandmother still lived in was two houses away from our new house. Also, my aunt and uncle lived about three houses away. With her new life as a single mother with two kids the convenience of it all was too hard for her to pass up.
Growing up in Dermott my neighborhood was relatively quiet all up until the Friday nights at seven o’clock. The football stadium was literally right down the road. I would always be able to hear the crowd roaring like a lion. This back when the Dermott Rams was untouchable on the football field. On the weekends we would have a lot of friends from all around Dermott come to our house and just have fun. My favorite thing to do when my friends came over was jump on the trampoline. We would have backflip and front flip contest to see who was the best.
In this whole poem, the poet uses four “personal pronouns”, which are “his wife, his children, himself and other people” to describe what his life looks like and how he tries to survive and lives in his own world. In the real world, no matter what happened, there should be many connections between families to chat, talk and communicate. However, the poet- James Dickey uses his words and written power to explain this kind of relationship or connection does not work for him very well.

Lawson's article exhibits in a field verifiably ruled by guys, women have changed the matter of offering cars. As a natural part of the calling, auto sales representatives are associated with circumstances bound with contemptibility, doubt, and shameless dealings. It is comprehended that sales representatives manage these issues in numerous ways. They may concentrate on money related objectives, stifle any impression of ethicality, assert honesty through faked ignorance, legitimize conduct as acting in compliance to bosses, or finally accuse the client for any negative association.
In the 20/20 segment that focused on Josh, showed the importance of a male figure in a child’s life. It was easily displayed that he was desperate for a dad by his actions and his behavior. He responded in his interview that he wants something more masculine he feels like a man can offer or contribute more of manly things such as sports and “guy things”. Josh’s mother’s perspective has changed on her views of the necessity of a father, because after seeing his behavioral antics she knows he’ll feel better if he knew his dad. He also made a few statements that stated he hated himself. She also sees that a male’s authority is important to Josh’s lifetime journey. The example she uses was if a man walks into a room and tells a child to pickup
Jenna, Stacy (Jenna’s mom) Macy (my sister), my mom and I arrived at Devils Lake on Saturday at about 10:00. It was a dreary wet day, and not too cold, but certainly not very warm. It was a misty and crisp fall day, perfect for a hike. This hike really meant a lot to Jenna, she really
Renowned English professor Gerald Graff reflects on the challenges and expectations placed upon him by his parents, as well as his community whilst growing up. In the article, “Disliking Books”, Graff shares his struggle to fit in with his peers and act in a way that was expected of him by others which led to his disinterest in education. In contrast, “Scholarship Boy” written by Richard Rodriguez, a well-established journalist and author has a completely different experience in his upbringing. In his article, Rodriguez is out to set himself apart from his peers and achieve academic success from a very young age. Both pieces illustrate how two young boys are affected by their environment, sacrifices, and socioeconomic backgrounds while Rodriguez chose to rise above expectations at a young age and Graff chooses to blend in until he’s older. Individual background, family and economic status all play an important role on how seriously we perceive our studies.
Growing up for me wasn’t always easy, I mean I’ve never been one to complain but I can also face the reality of knowing I’ve had many struggles throughout my life. From the beginning, when I was two years old my dad walked out on my mother, my sister, and me. When I was younger I never knew the reason why and I thought it was normal to not have a dad since I never really had one. In reality, my mom had to go through struggle to support my sister and I but, we never really knew everything she did until we were old enough to realize it. When Christmas came around every year we just figured Santa left us all these great gifts when in reality my mom had to work hard to pay all the bills and keep us happy.
