I believe you’re using APA and you did a good job of doing that, but you need to put your title on your first official page (the page you actually start your essay). I also think you should come up with a better title than just gun control, I mean what about gun control, your title doesn’t give me any insight on what you actually will be talking about dealing with guns. Going through it I can sense what you are trying to convey but the title is a little bland. Also, you cannot have your reference page on the same page as some of your essay, so the last page needs to JUST be your reference page. Speaking of references, I’m sorry to tell you, but you have no academic sources in your essay, no primary source either. You just have popular sources. My advice is go on websites …show more content…
Your primary source needs to be something that was first handedly done. So you either have to find a website that directly did a survey or interview on someone that was in a gun violence act or you have to do one yourself. Another thing is with your in-text citations, you need to use a comma in between each thing so it should be like: (Muhammad, 2017). When you use an in-text citation it needs to be after the quote, you say something like “Muhammad stated ‘blah blah blah’ (2017). Those statistics on pages 4-5, you should use those in sentences with your own words. That’s a lot of points that are just hanging there. You must take out all those you’s, I’s, and we’s. You probably can get an F but just having all of those. She made an announcement saying not to use any pronoun. I would also take out whatever words you bolded. You have to take out any citation that you got from Wikipedia, that’s a big no-no. When you use sentences like “Gun violence is a serious issue and many people are affected by it” tell us why gun violence is a serious
Gun control is a controversial issue for a long time around the world, particularly in U.S. because of a lots of mass shooting in school and public places. The second Amendment of the U.S. constitution is one of the shortest in all of the bill of right, it was written by the time period of American’s birth and it is the spirit of self-defense that help the new citizens of U.S. win their own freedom from the British. But now as the gun shooting problem happening every day in America, this gun control problem has gradually become to a hot issue. Compare to other countries like Britain, Canada, Japan, China, the difference between U.S. and those countries is in these countries to get a firearm is a very difficult thing
“The right to bear arms”, an amendment so prioritized by our founding fathers that it earned the very second spot on the list of birth rights as Americans. However, with constant tragedies striking the United States, such as massacres in public high schools and universities, mall shootings, and attempted assassinations on state representatives, it’s no wonder law makers are constantly debating the topic of gun control.
A hot-button topic in the world of U.S. politics today is the controversy over whether or not new gun laws need to be instituted to keep Americans safe. We are a nation that believes in the Second Amendment, and one that sticks to traditional values. With this, comes a great deal of incongruity, which makes for a very sensitive debate on gun control. On one side of the spectrum, we have those who take a more liberal stance; while they do in fact support the second amendment, there is no doubt that the U.S. has evolved significantly since the Constitution was written, hence creating a need for strict gun laws. On the other side of the spectrum, conservatives argue that as soon as executive action inhibits the fundamental principles in which
Gun control is a law that controls how guns are sold and used, and who can own them. Allowing people to possess and use a gun with legal documents in the United States is legal. There have been arguments on whether or not is should be legal to own a gun as some people see it as beneficial and others do not. It is believed that guns are beneficial to have, and they are there because we need to be able to protect ourselves. We should not allow the government to have power over gun control for many reasons including the loss of tradition of hunting, not being able to protect ourselves, and simply because of the second amendment.
ProCon.org recently featured an article that studied gun control. “Stricter state gun laws associated with fewer gun deaths, study finds.” The article discussed gun control laws in states with stricter laws tend to have lower rates of gun related homicides, and a suicide (ProCon para. 1) Gun control in the United States is becoming a wide spread issue and is becoming a problem everywhere. Although I am living in a city with uprising crime that has been skyrocketing over the years, I wasn’t aware of this being an issue all over the United States. I decided to do some research to find out whether I am in favor of Gun control laws or not. After reviewing many articles for and against gun control, I found out that I do in fact agree with
In Beverly Ballaro and Laura Finley’s article Counterpoint: Gun Control Saves Lives, Ballaro and Finley make a convincing argument by use of logic, emotion, and evidence. By using logic, Ballaro and Finley support their argument even further. One of their main points is that there is no need for an AK-47 or similar assault rifle in most house holds. The common uses of guns in houses is usually for protection and sport, both of which there is no need for a military grade weapon, “Designed for the purpose of killing as many people as possible as efficiently as possible” (Ballaro and Finley).
As we know, the world has been suffering from a firearm injury epidemic. Law makers have tried to put in place certain measures that would prevent the risk of using firearm in restricted places. The U.S. citizens have their right by the constitution through the 2nd AMENDEMENT to carry a firearm which has defined, “A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.2 3”. Sanders, Pattison, & John K. (2015), As U.S. citizens, well defines by the 2nd Amendement above we have the right to possess a firearm (Federal Law), but we also have to follow the laws from the State that we all live in. No matter which the law presents itself, there will still be a
The issue of gun control dates back to the 17th century. There have been debates whether the government of the United States should adopt gun control or not and whether it is good for its citizens or not. As a result, two opposing groups have been formed; one supporting guns control and the other one against. According to statistics a big percentage of crimes committed in the United States are as a result of possession of guns and other firearms among citizens. In surveys carried out since 1999, over 20% of gun owners said that they owned the guns for protection. According to them, they use the guns to protect themselves against the increasing crimes. However, not all gun owners use the guns for protection; some use them to commit crimes thereby bringing in the issue of gun control. The United States government need to formulate laws and regulations to control gun ownership especially pro-guns (Spitzer p34-35).
Gun control is a very touchy subject. I don't believe that taking the guns away from the law abiding citizens is the correct way to go about this issue. The criminals are the ones not going thru the proper ways to buy a firearm. Right now there are 2 background checks that you go thru to buy a firearm. One is state and the other is federal. The Democrats believe there should be more background checks that potential gun owners should go thru. They also believe that banning certain guns and items for guns will help the issue. The most recent shooting was done with a handgun and a shotgun. There has been a big political debate over the gun control issue. How much is too much and how much is not enough? This is the real question. Some people feel
Lately, there has been an ongoing debate about controlling guns and many people are trying to discontinue giving citizens the right to own or possess firearm weapons. There are many people who think that nobody should be allowed to possess a firearm where as there are many other people that believe they deserve the right to own a firearm for many reasons. Because of the large differential between beliefs on this topic there is a large debate within the US Government whether or not to allow citizens to continue using guns and keep them. What really seems to be happening with this debate is that the people who want restrictions are not getting their way. There are many reasons for this and many reasons why people should be allowed to
My A2 target text is a political-opinion piece written by Taya Kyle who is the widow of war hero Chris Kyle and titled “Gun control won’t protect us.” This target text was published January 8th, 2016, in CNN’s opinion section, and its thesis is that gun control won’t protect us because people can always find ways to hurt others regardless of whether or not it is with a gun and without guns to protect us from those people there will be many more innocent
Guns. A word that sends shivers down some spines, and reminds others they need to clean theirs. The issue of gun control riles up many across America. Gun control falls under changing the current gun laws in any way that makes them stricter. People can buy any accessory they want whether it is considered harmful or not. It is also known the mentally ill can also easily obtain guns and ammunition. Most of the mass shootings Americans experienced are conducted by the mentally ill. Felons, who legally should not have the ability to obtain guns, can easily obtain them through background check mishaps and private sales. The United States government should slightly limit - not eliminate - civilian access to guns because: certain accesories serve
People could get firearms through the legitimate channel by having a handgun safety certificate, background check, and carry license in the United States. The gun control theme has been discussed in the last few years. The hot topic discussing that should we banned the right to own a gun as functional protection. Few people who owns a gun have few committing of violent crimes which like school shooting, suicide, and homicide in America. As the number of the gun holder increasing, the number of death rate increasing every year. For this horrible issue, there are four main reasons to support banning gun which including gun violence, mental health, second amendment, and the negative of self-defense.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” It is these words that give American citizens the right to own guns. These are also the words that allow shooting after shooting to take place in our country. The United States is in desperate need of stricter, more uniform gun control laws so that the country may become a safer place.
Young children and teens are most prone to homicides dealing with guns. My first piece of evidence to show that kids are most prone to gum homicides is, "Over two hundred children and teens die every month in the United States from guns, the majority of deaths being homicides." This shows how many kids die every month because of guns. My next piece of evidence to show that kids are prone to gun homicides is,"In 2010, there were 1,773 homicide gun deaths among children and teens, 749 suicide gun deaths, 134 accidental gun deaths, and 38 deaths of undetermined intent." This shows how many kids die every year from guns. My last piece of evidence to support
