Guns have played a major role in shaping and constructing the United States of America to the way it is today. In the early times of United States history, the founding fathers set in stone that every man has the right to bear arms. In recent years there have been numerous politicians that have been fighting to take that right away from us. The Second Amendment to the Unites States Constitution states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The history of the gun has played major roles in conquering land and defending the land that one would call home. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the Colonists relied heavily on firearms to take and protect the land from Native Americans and Europeans. During the time of the Revolutionary War, every male citizen was required to own a firearm to help fight off British forces .
In the early eighteenth century, firearms were considered a necessity for not only protection from Native Americans but also used for hunting game for food and goods. Hunting has been considered a way of life for thousands of years. Hunting is a way of putting food on the table for families and is considered to be a sport. Gun owners feel safer having a weapon in their house for not only protection and food but also the security of knowing that you have a weapon in your hands.
