Halfway: A Short Story

I stand and stare in disbelief as the car’s bonnet is crumpled into the bulky metal pole on the side of the road. My limbs are numb and I am drenched from head to toe. The glistening droplets continuously drip off the tip of my nose as I realize how much trouble I’m going to get into. The wind wails around me as if it’s saying “you’re going to be in so much trouble”. They arrived outside at the bonfire. Ana plopped her seat onto a tarp covered bale of hay and set the mugs on the tarp on the ground in front of them. She sat hunched over with her forearms resting on the knees of her split legs, like a basketball player sitting on a bench.

As Brittany arrives at the forest the sight of the bright flames roaring in front of her eyes makes her feel as though she just got punched in the gut, she never expected it to be this big . Dr.Clementine left her foot cream on the lab table and walked out, after making sure the coast was clear Eva let out her favorite animals Harry a baby cow and Teela a baby kitten. Gray smoke rose from the fires that lined the cavern mouths. To the right, I could just make out Cotton and three green witches. As I got closer, I saw that one had her long, lanky green fingers clamped around his neck. He was suspended about three feet off the ground, frantically clicking his clogs together

Just a week into their marriage, Mason was sent away on a mission leaving Holly at home. Feeling bereft and lonely she opened a message from the friendship site to find it was another threat from Alex. He was there in the vicinity, knowing she was alone and ready to kill her. It was a dark Friday night, the week before Halloween and Emma Harmen was walking home from work. As she turns down a dark alley she hears a garbage can tip over. Her heart begins to beat faster and faster, she quickly turns around to see what it is. When she looks she sees nothing but a small black cat. Emma continues walking, after a few minutes have passed on the wall of the building ahead of her she sees a shadow appear from the streetlight behind her. Emma is really spooked now and her heart is beating rapidly, and decides to pick up the pace. When she hears a strangers footsteps closely behind her she was now certain someone was following her. Emma is now sprinting down the dark alley when out of no where she is hit abruptly by a car that was driving insanely fast. When she awakes minutes later the most attractive boy was standing over her.

Holly felt a new-founded hate for Halloween. It was already an annoying holiday, with children running around the streets and people dressed up in funny or scary costumes, but this was a whole new level. She was hanging out with her cousin, Johnathon, and his girlfriend, Sophia, when it was close to midnight. She was about to leave when they disappeared into the woods, and when she went to find them, she got lost. Stumbling upon a trail, Holly decided to forget about her friends, and take the trail out of the woods, then somehow get home.
