I am 14 year old Hannah Herzog and I am currently serving my 3rd year as the Secretary of the Country Pals 4-H Club. I recently finished 8th grade and was promoted to high school at Little River Junior Senior High School. I played volleyball and basketball and also ran track. This was my 7th year in 4-H; I enjoy being well-rounded in my 4-H projects.
Hannah’s background as a Holocaust survivor is important for understanding the experience of the Holocaust. Her story provides unique insight on the Holocaust outside of concentration camps, dispels myths, and captivates the emotional aura of living during the Holocaust. Hannah’s story is one of resistance, danger, and the importance of family.
In his book Hannah Coulter, Wendell Berry explores how the trials and tribulations one experiences shape them from the beginning of life until death. Janne Teller writes, “Everything begins only to end. The moment you were born you begin to die. That’s how it is with everything” In detailing Hannah Coulter’s life, Berry shows how the era she grew up in, the people surrounding her, and various life events formed the qualities and characteristics of the woman she became.
One of Hannah Senesh's greatest influences was aquired when she was arrested and tortured on march 14th, 1994. Hannah and some of her colleagues parachuted into Yugoslavia and joined a partisan group, after they landed they found out that the Germans had already occupied Hungary. The men that were with her decided that it was too dangerous to continue but Hannah continued on to the Hungarian border. At the border, she and the people that stayed with her were arrested by the German military. Hannah was taken to a prison and was brutally beaten for three days, then she was transfered to a prison in budapest where she was interrogated and beaten. Hannah stayed in a cell until she was executed by a German firing squad on November 7th, 1994. The
Twelve-year-old Hannah Stern, is a Jewish girl from New Rochelle, NY. What started out as a normal traditional dinner called Seder, became an adventure of humiliation, survival, death, and a new found appreciation for her family and heritage. Hannah, during Seder dinner, was told to answer the door to see if someone was coming. When she opened the door she was suddenly transported back in time—to Poland in 1942. Her confusion grows deeper as she inhabits the life of Chaya Abramowicz. Not understanding if this is a dream, or if she is Hannah or Chaya, she and her new friends and family are then taken by the Nazis. The book details the horrific acts that happened at the concentration camps during WW2, and the message of never forgetting what
There are seven tapes and each side of the tape is for a specific person who had a role in helping Hannah commit suicide. The first tape is addressed to Justin Foley who was Hannah’s first kiss. They had a sweet, innocent kiss, however, Justin decided to spread a rumor that much more happened, which lead Hannah to be called a “slut” for the rest of high school year.
Hannah's tapes weren't only about people and the problems they have caused her; one of the tapes is about seeking help. She really needed someone to help her out with the burden she carries every day she needed someone to give a reason to live, she needed someone there for her. She needed a friend the type of friend that would listen and tried to understand what she's been going through. Like Hannah wants help she doesn't want to end it just there she wants a reason to live so in the book she says “ I’m giving life one more chance. And this time, I’m getting help. I’m asking for help because I cannot do this alone. I’ve tried that.”(Asher 269). Therefore, Hannah is asking for help even though Clay was there for her but she pushed him away
In the movie and the book my favorite was the movie. Some of the reasons why i liked the movie more because it was more understanding for me. Its easier to understand things when you see it for yourself and not see it in black and white. My favorite part in the movie is when hannah is so kind and takes her life to save man many others it was emotional part in the movie. There was a big difference between the movie and the book here are some examples…
In the beginning of the movie, Hannah comes off as a bright, happy, and outgoing girl. However, it soon changed after her boyfriend, Joel, broke up with her. She really loved him and stated, “I can never imagine not having him in my life”. (American Teen)
Hannah from “The Perfects’” struggles to face her demons. To begin, as the new girl in town she is curious about the neighbors. When
Eeny Meeny is an amaing book about taking precious things and trying to break them. It’s about coping with your decisions which one felt forced to do, much like Macbeth when he kills the king and all that fills his mind is horrible thoughts that keep him up at night. Each of the actions of people in this book takes a different toll on the individual, and each of them takes a different path after the incident. I am going to write a musical tribute to three of the victims in the book. Music is a way to say more about the characters than words ever would.
1. In what specific ways does Hannah help Prior? Why might she (a complete stranger) have such a profound effect on him? In what ways does their relationship (and her views on world, religion, disease) make possible Prior 's transition from AIDS victim to a PLWA (a person LIVING with AIDS)? In what ways is Hannah transformed/changed through her relationship with Prior? And why/how does this change occur?
I believe that the author, Jay Asher, ended Hannah’s life and story the way he did for several reasons. Hannah taking her own life truly emphasized the impact of bullying, rape, and harassment has on someone. Hannah deciding to make tapes dedicated to the people her impacted her decision, then committing suicide on the final tape showed how much hate and vengefulness she had for everyone. It seemed to me as if she was trying to instill the idea that being a bad friend, rude classmate, and a straight up bully comes with consequences.
If you’re going to watch a re-staging of an epic and convoluted love story full of politics and passion, Kate Foder’s “Hannah and Martin”, is a definite must-see. The play is about a conflict between the main character, Hannah’s, political and personal views and opinions, and between her relationship with Martin and his subsequent actions. It is a complicated love story in which a Jewish girl falls in love with a Nazi sympathizer, during the heart of the Nazi regime in Germany. The goal of this production was for the audience to decide, on their own, whether or not, through her relationship and support for Martin, Hannah had blood on her hands. This play definitely achieves this goal through carefully constructed scenes and powerful chemistry between the characters. “Hannah and Martin” is a successful rendition of the real-life, powerful, love story of Hannah and Martin, which is both heart wrenching and intriguing to watch.
In “Eichmann in Jerusalem,” Hannah Arendt analyzes Adolph Eichmann while he is on trial in Jerusalem for the crimes that he committed while being a Lieutenant Colonel in the SS during the Nazi Regime. In the book Arendt talks about how Eichmann’s actions were “banal” in the sense that he seemed to be an ordinary person who just committed acts that were evil. Italian-Jewish Writer Primo Levi, a Holocaust Survivor, states that SS officers like Eichmann lived in their own self-deception that made them believe that their actions were caused by just following their orders in the SS. In this paper, I will analyze the views that both Arendt and Levi had about the Eichmann trial and then compare and state the differences of their views. I will then explain the reasons why both Hannah Arendt’s and Primo Levi’s analysis of Adolph Eichmann that show that the actions that he committed were all truly evil actions.
