The Thematic Analysis of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second one of this series of novels. This time Harry still encountered the menace of Voldemort. Word came that the legendary chamber of secrets would be opened by the heir of the Slytherin family. Worse still, Harry was suspected because of his grasp of Parseltongue. Hogwarts was confronted with the crisis of closedown. Ultimately Harry found the entrance of the camber and horrific challenges were awaiting him. But Harry managed to kill Basilisk, saving the whole Hogwarts. To analyze the issue of this novel, we need to figure out the imagery of snakes, which has multiple connotations. Snakes have a repulsive appearance, hallucinatory …show more content…
But the lightening-shaped scar also looks like a snake. In the seven books we can observe dozens of times that Harry was influenced by the scar. Voldemort could affect Harry's behaviour through it. So the scar is not only a symbol of honor, but also a symbol of heinous lure. Initially Harry could not stand the pain the scar brought and was deceived by the spurious thought. But it was not before long Harry could resist the ache and the depraved thoughts. This demonstrates that consequently rationality surpassed irrationality and righteousness was …show more content…
They both mastered Parseltongue before they became sorcerers. In point of fact, the grasp of Parseltongue is a distinguished character of Salazar Slytherin, one of the great four of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And the badge of Slytherin is a snake. What will happen if a sorcerer masters Parseltongue? Let us look into another example. The Gaunt family acquired this capability. Although they were no longer glorious, they were boastful and conceited, just deriding others as they please. They abused their privileged status to contravene the laws in the magic world arbitrarily. Snakes denote the distinctive talents and nobility in the magic world. Additionally, the sorting hat allocated Riddle to Slytherin, and he intended to assign Harry to there, too. Both of them could attach their mind to snakes and perceive outside via the eyes of snakes. From the perspective of the writing purport, we can conclude that to some extent Harry and Voldemort are the same
The first Harry Potter was published in 1997, the rest of the books were published between then and 2007. Harry Potter is about a boy who a powerful wizard named Voldemort wanted to kill but instead of killing Harry he killed Harry’s parents. Harry went and lived with his nasty aunt and uncle until he was 11. When he was 11 he got a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which told him he was a wizard. Each book is a year at Hogwarts that Harry goes through with his best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Throughout the books Harry learns why Voldemort wanted to kill him, why he survived and how he can prepare for another attack.
The snake is harmless, minding its own business and is no threat to Margaret but she goes on to attack it because she had been told by Miss Laing that they are dangerous. This is therefore like the anti-German propaganda fed to the British public during the war. There are also biblical links in the relation to the snake as Adam and Eve were tempted by the devil in the form of a snake in Genes. Now Margaret has been tempted to disobeying Miss Laing.
It also terrorized the neighboring towns and villages. Medusa also has snake-like characteristics. Her hair is made of snakes and she depicted as evil because she turns people to stone. Overall, there are several monsters that contain snake-like characteristics and it is used to show them as an evil part of society.
Harry Potter is a fascinating tale of sorcerers, wands, broomsticks, dragons, and magic. The story begins with a young boy named Harry Potter who lives at number four Privit Drive, Surray, England. His journey begins after the death of his parents at the hands of the evil Lord Voldemort. Harry learns of his past and his future as a wizard from Hagrid, the keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He travels to Hogwarts where he learns spells and enchantments, makes new friends, finds enemies, and discovers fantastic secretes. J.K. Rowling weaves a web of impeccable storytelling with this critically acclaimed novel. In the tale of Harry Potter imagery, symbolism, and motif take central focus.
Harry Potter is a twelve-year-old boy whose parents were killed by Voldemort. Harry has a scar shaped like a lighting bolt on his forehead. He has black hair, like his father, and green eyes, like his mother. Ron Weasley is a red haired, freckled faced boy. Ron is Harry’s best friend. He is very poor and has five older brothers and a younger sister. Hermione Granger is Harry and Ron’s other friend. She has muggle parents. She has bushy brown hair. She is
Hurting the man was something he was opposed to. The snake was calm and careful, making him honorable. The audience is pleased with the snake’s noble decision. It makes the snake seem like the victim because he wanted to make certain he was in danger. This causes the reputation of the snake within the reader to go up.
My book report is on the book 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone' by J.K.
Welty uses to symbolism of two mythical creatures to represent a theme in short story, “A Worn Path.” During the walk Phoenix recounts seeing a two-headed snake (Welty 481). Snakes are used to symbolize a wide variety of ideas both in literature and mythology. For example the Quetzalcoatl is a feathered serpent which symbolizes rebirth for some myths of Ancient Mexico and Mesoamerica (Mursell). Just like the Ancients, Welty uses a snake to represent rebirth in her story as well but her’s is two-headed. Welty uses each head to symbolize one of Phoenix’s desires. The first head symbolizes Phoenix’s desire to hold on to objects or to habits like trip to town. While the second head represents Phoenix’s desire to be with her grandson. Since Phoenix has two different desires she cannot be reborn until those desires become one.
Harry potter and the prisoner of Azkaban is an excellent book. Out of ten stars I would rate this one an eight because it was to short. Once you get into it and finish it. It seems so short, because it is so interesting. Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban starts out with a bang. In the beginning Sirius black a Man accused of thirteen murders in one night escapes from Azkaban.( A wizard prison guarded to the tee by dementors, deadly spirits that feast on anything happy. Basically they suck the life out of you slowly until you go mad and lose sanity). Harry runs away on the same night and crosses the man without realizing it. Since Sirius is an ananamugus he is able to turn into a giant black
In the short story “Sweat” by Zora Neale Hurston a reoccurring symbol is the snake. Its apparition is a dominating force throughout the plot. The main character Delia's husband, Sykes uses the snake as a method of tormenting. It first appears to the readers in the form of a whip. Then it manifests into a genuine rattlesnake that Sykes brings home one day. Sykes, the story's antagonist, becomes a symbolic adaption of the snake as the plot evolves. The emblematic meaning embedded into to the snake is oppression and evil. In the story “Sweat”, symbolism is used in the form of a snake to represent oppression and multiple platforms of injustice.
Soon after entering Hogwarts, Harry must face a road of trials which will eventually lead him to achieve his unlikely treasure. While roaming the halls after curfew, Harry receives detention in the forbidden forest, and comes face to face with the Dark Lord. Other obstacles come to place when Harry travels down the trap door into the chambers; such as devil’s snare, a human wizard’s chess game, and the room of keys (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). The series of tests make Harry’s mission difficult; however, the knowledge he gains from the unsuccessful trials bring him closer to his main goal. These minor bumps in Harry’s journey strengthen him emotionally and physically, readying him to defeat the traitor at the end of his succession of tests. Unexpectedly, the betrayal comes from the quivering Professor Quirrell who voluntarily gives up his body to the Dark Lord. Harry sees himself in the mirror and realizes he is magically in possession of the Sorcerer’s Stone. Shortly
The venomous snakes found in Pennsylvania are all part of the pit viper family, which means that these snakes all have pits on the side of its head and in between their nostrils (Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission). These pits help the snake locate food by detecting heatwaves of nearby prey (Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission). “In Pennsylvania, all of our venomous snakes have slit-like pupils that are similar to cat’s eyes. Nonvenomous snakes have round pupils, like a human eye” (Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission). With many characteristics, they can be observed to help determine whether the snake is venomous or not. The Pennsylvania fish and boat commission states that another way to differentiate between a venomous and a nonvenomous snake is their shedded skin, a
Harry Potter is a black haired and green eyed. He lives with his Aunt Petunia Dursley (his mother's sister), his Uncle Vernon Dursley, and his cousin Dudley Dursley. His parents were killed by Lord Voldemort, the most evil wizard of his time. Nobody has ever survived the killing curse except for Harry. All Harry has to show this is a lightning bolt shaped scar. He is famous for the downfall of Lord Voldemort because of this. Harry is called "The Boy Who Lived" because he survived the killing curse. He has a problem for getting into trouble and seeing things others cannot (like the Golden Snitch, in Quidditch.) Harry can speak Parseltongue, the language of snakes. His mother was born into a muggle family, and his father was a pureblood, making

In the Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling Harry starts of in the unfamiliar wizarding world of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After lord Voldemort killed Harry’s parents he is sent of to his aunt and uncle's house as a baby. Harry does not like living with them but eventually at age 12 he gets a letter to attend hogwarts which he will soon find out that he is a wizard. After being sorted into one of the four houses (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, ravenclaw and slytherin)he gets sorted into gryffindor and finds friends in his house(Ron and Hermione).
