Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Book vs. Movie In 2002, Chris Columbus created the movie version of J.K. Rowling’s famous work, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The book and the movie both, have a similar storyline. But in this essay I will be going over some of the differences. I will talk about some of the character differences, the main changes from the plotline to the film, character development, and which I prefer and why.
First, I will give you this brief summary of the book and movie. Harry Potter is in his second year at Hogwarts. Before he goes to Hogwarts, he meets a house-elf named Dobby, who wishes to keep Harry from Hogwarts, due to his fear that Harry will be harmed. Soon after arriving, Harry starts hearing a mysterious voice in the walls of the school. Shortly after, students are attacked and become petrified. Harry discovers that someone is opening the “Chamber of Secrets” and letting out the “Monster”. After a while, Harry’s friend Hermione becomes petrified as well. Events come to a head when Ron’s sister, Ginny, is kidnapped and taken down into the Chamber. They quickly start searching for the entrance. After they find it, they head down to rescue Ginny. Harry finds an almost dead Ginny, a diary, and Tom Riddle (Voldemort). Harry learns Voldemort was possessing Ginny through a magical diary and was using her to set the monster loose on the students. The monster is then revealed to be a Basilisk. Harry saves Ginny by defeating the
The narrative structure of a story is extremely important because it is the reason the reader feels attracted or not towards the story. J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, narrated her story in a way that makes it easy to comprehend and maintains the reader attracted to it. Rowling included several types of events throughout the novel that makes the reader follow the story without getting lost in the middle of the story. The author introduces characters without getting the reader lost, makes the reader dislike certain characters due to their characteristics, and presents conflicts between good and evil.
In J.K. Rowling 's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer 's Stone, the last four archetypes discussed in Christopher Vogler 's The Writer 's Journey are the shapeshifter, shadow, ally and trickster. These archetypes are represented by a number of characters but, primarily: Professor Snape, the shapeshifter; Voldemort and Professor Quirrell, the shadows; Hermione and Ron, the allies; Fred and George, the tricksters.
The book starts with the students, Harry, Ron, and, Hermione going back to Hogwarts after summer vacation. Voldemort is free and is wreaking havoc throughout the wizarding world. Dumbledore has a plan but first he must inform Harry of Voldemort’s past. Throughout the story the trio finds out who the half-blood prince is and discover ways to defeat Voldemort. His soul is connected to his horcruxes. By destroying Voldemort’s Horcruxes they are destroying parts of his soul, which is the only way to defeat him. Harry believes that Snape is working for Voldemort, but no one believes him.
I have never been as comfortable with people made of flesh and bone than I have been with those made of words. Whatever information I lose in the contours of the human face, I have no trouble locating in the unchanging, permanent text of a book. There is something about literature that felt safe to me; the worlds created within far more welcoming to little girls with problems fitting in than the one outside the pages. For this reason, fiction, from Harry Potter to The Book Thief, has remained my greatest passion ever since I learned to read.
Soon after entering Hogwarts, Harry must face a road of trials which will eventually lead him to achieve his unlikely treasure. While roaming the halls after curfew, Harry receives detention in the forbidden forest, and comes face to face with the Dark Lord. Other obstacles come to place when Harry travels down the trap door into the chambers; such as devil’s snare, a human wizard’s chess game, and the room of keys (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). The series of tests make Harry’s mission difficult; however, the knowledge he gains from the unsuccessful trials bring him closer to his main goal. These minor bumps in Harry’s journey strengthen him emotionally and physically, readying him to defeat the traitor at the end of his succession of tests. Unexpectedly, the betrayal comes from the quivering Professor Quirrell who voluntarily gives up his body to the Dark Lord. Harry sees himself in the mirror and realizes he is magically in possession of the Sorcerer’s Stone. Shortly

A hero can be defined as someone who places themself at great risk, while performing acts of courage. This definition can be related in the epic poem, Beowulf, and the novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer 's Stone. In each story, both leading characters are born destined to defeat the most evil creature in their world. Beowulf is the oldest surviving epic poem in the world. “Beowulf” was written in 1000 AD, in Old English form. In this poem the main character, Beowulf, challenges an evil monster, Grendel and a dragon, to a battle to save Denmark. 1,300 years later, in 1997, the novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer 's Stone was published. Written by JK Rowling, Harry Potter became an instant success and was read by millions of people all over the world. In this novel, the main character, Harry Potter, is sent to Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry. At Hogwarts, Harry realizes that it is his destiny to kill Lord Voldemort, the most evil creature in the wizard world. Even through culture change, Harry Potter and Beowulf can be compared. They can be compared because both heroes are destined to fight evil, lead a group of people, and save the innocent lives of others.
6. (N) Oswaldo and Tim took a quick excursion to the small island of Saint Thomas, while the rest of the group stayed with the tour guide on the island next door, Saint John.
The novel depicts the alienation, the teasing and abuse he receives from the Dursley’s and from his muggle school in length but the film cuts it out and only represents Harry’s current life with his muggle family. Though film often acts like the viewer is watching an historical reenactment of a literary work, but Nel argues that “[t]he movie was not enough like the book and, at the same time, very much like the book” (172). True, the film does not explain the themes that were already discussed and introduces the film at the zoo but the film interestingly introduces the magic world to Harry [played by Daniel Radcliff] through the use of absurdities and fun. It presents the magic world in a more whimsical manner that modern ‘muggles’ would not realistically dream of. For instance, the scene of the owl infestation at the Dursley’s home when the Hogwarts letters were not being delivered is not mentioned in the novel and is an added creative twist to the film. It also presents one of Hogwarts symbols of the owl delivery system and at the same time, it may also foreshadow the animal companion to the hero. Though the novel presents this scene with whimsical descriptions, the film portrays magic in a manner that is absurd and entertaining to the audience and Harry as well.
Half-Blood Prince is easily one of the better books in the Harry Potter series, though each is a masterpiece. But the 6th installment of a 7-part series is bound to be full of great moments in the story. There remains a great deal unanswered in this book, however, and the 7th will surely need to be no smaller than an average encyclopedia. Somehow as I was reading this book, I felt that I was learning more and at a quicker rate than in Order of the Phoenix, but so many of Harry's problems and questions took so long to reach any sort of answer or resolution that I still ended up not knowing many of the secrets I expected to be revealed in this book. It must be that Rowling, in her grand scheme, is saving much for the last book. One thing seems

As a professional reviewer, Mike Furches reviews Harry Potter in his blog, “Reviews with Mike Furches: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1” on blogspot.com. Mike’s concern for the dark, scary aspects of the Harry Potter books led him to research the subject more thoroughly, hoping to point out the reasons children should not be reading them. Because of the social, political, and cultural aspects of this work, he felt it was important to inform readers and parents of this questionable side of Harry Potter.
This is the first book where Harry is really shown as being a mature teenage boy. In the earlier books, Harry is still shown as an immature boy who has a hard time facing all the problems in his life. Since Harry is finally shown as being more mature, he is finally able to show in other things then just Voldemort. Harry finally admits his feelings for Ginny Weasley, and the two start dating. He is also finally able to stand up to Professor Snape, instead of submitting to him. ("HPL: Harry Potter and they Half-Blood Prince chapter by chapter.")
As Helen Keller once said, “Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.” Friendship is the kindling to the fire of happiness, without it your happiness may diminish. In the novel, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban authored by J.K. Rowling, the protagonist Harry Potter, has a very close friend named Ron Weasly. Together, they exhibit the true meaning of rapport.
