He Was Just Not ReadyJustin Trudeau is the son of former Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau. When Justin Trudeau was elected, he promised several things and he has only completed 15.5 percent of the promises he said he would do. Out of that 15 percent he has made some uneducated choices such as legalizing Marijuana. Furthermore, he has no experience in politics, he was a high school drama teacher. But overall, Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister, he was just not ready! Justin has been trying really hard to legalize marijuana. It is an awful idea! Legalizing marijuana is a mistake because younger children will be able to access it easier. If you use marijuana it can impair your judgement and it can cause accidents at work and on the roadway. Pierre Philippe Yves Elliot Trudeau, better known as Pierre Trudeau, was an author, a university professor, a lawyer and a politician. Through his political actions, as well as through his personality, he stimulated a great deal of emotions, both positive and negative, among the Canadian public. Thus making him a very memorable figure. He introduced important political initiatives, which strongly influenced many aspects of Canadian political and private life. His significance is still recognized by Canadians at present, which is illustrated by the fact that in 2004, he was selected as the
In my opinion I think both prime ministers are well rounded leaders but I definitely take Trudeau’s side for multiple reasons. First off, his charisma for one, was unlike any other politician making him approachable and a more trusted leader. He created phrases, he dated famous stars, and he was also a very smart man. Because of his great achievements for Canada and his odd personality he definitely tops my list of prime ministers and I exited to see what is son can bring in years to
The legalization of marijuana is a very debatable subject, some people think it is bad and should be illegal, and some people think it is good in some ways if used properly. It should be legal because it has few negative effects, it serves other purposes than getting people stoned, and it is better than other drugs.
Although it is a highly common defense that marijuana is not addictive, it in fact is. Many regular smokers find themselves ridden with very similar withdrawal symptoms of a tobacco addict (Marijuana Addiction Symptoms and Effects). Around 9% of people who use find themselves dependent on marijuana (Is Marijuana Addictive?). That may not seem like much, but that is almost 1 in every 10 people hooked on a drug that is supposedly “non-addictive.” Legalizing a drug that causes disorientation, paranoia, depression, anxiety, dizziness, and a slowed reaction time is not safe, not to mention the fact that it is a gateway drug, often leading users to use even more damaging and dangerous drugs (Is Marijuana Addictive?). With the legalization of a drug like marijuana comes increased use and abuse of the drug. Marijuana is unsafe medically for the individual using and for the people around them when the user is under the influence, it will cost the government money and time and it will cost employers tons. Legalizing marijuana would be a huge mistake by our country.
Medical marijuana has been one of the most controversial topics in politics for years regardings its legalization and any possible benefits. Marijuana is commonly referred to as the “gateway drug” and has been thought to be what causes the downfall of our youth in today’s society. This has caused Marijuana to earn a bad reputation due to the immense surrounding propaganda and bias opinions. Cannabis is the scientific name of the plant which is absolutely natural and free of chemicals, but the psychoactive components in the plant has been proven to be of medical use. If medical marijuana is prescribed correctly it has the potential to help thousands of patients due to the variety of benefits it can medically provide. Medical Marijuana should
Pierre Trudeau was a leader who not only brought change by bringing new laws to Canada, but he changed the way people viewed other laws. Trudeau listened to the majority, but also protected the rights of the minority which demonstrates he is a strong leader. He once said “Canada will be a strong country when Canadians of all provinces feel at home in all parts of the country, and when they feel that all Canada belongs to them.” (CBC Archives) Trudeau has always strived for greatness and has been successful in many cases. As in the FLQ crisis, Trudeau declared a brief period of Martial Law using the War Measures Act (WMA). By doing this, he completely changed the view of the WMA. It had been assumed that the WMA would be used in times of crisis, such as famines, depressions, pandemics and other serious situations that are serious to Canada’s well-being. However, Trudeau demonstrated how it can be used
A great Prime Minister should always do what is right for Canada, no matter what obstacles he or she faces. Looking at the fifteen years he was in power, Pierre Elliot Trudeau did exactly that. For instance, he implemented the Official Languages Act and made bilingualism law. In another case, he put an end to the October Crisis by putting into effect the War Measures Act. Finally, Trudeau amended the Constitution which gave Canadians a Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Pierre Elliot Trudeau was a successful Prime Minister who accomplished his goals despite facing enormous opposition.
Trudeau himself was a liberal. One of the core beliefs of liberal ideology is that of individual rights, meaning that
Harper used the weak liberal leaders to ensure he stayed in power and he was able to ensure that a coalition did not happen between the Liberals, New Democrats and the Bloc Quebecois. He remained strong when the possibility of his government being replaced by a coalition almost happened, he was successful by saying that the deal the liberals made was “‘a betrayal of the voters of this country… a betrayal of the best interests of our economy… a betrayal of the best interests of our country. And we will fight it with every means that we have’” (223). Harper kept his opponents divided and he showed Canadians that he was not going anywhere. Finally, he showed leadership after winning a majority by promising “‘major reforms’ in ‘a whole range of areas’ to ‘secure the sustainability of our key programs… for a generation to come’” (364). This showed that he was just getting started. Stephen Harper’s leadership style was to remain a strong leader while making as few headlines as possible. Harper did not like making headlines, “This helps explain why he has lasted. He lies low because he wants to last” (291). Harper was an effective leader because he knew how to keep a low profile which limited the amount of bad
Pierre Trudeau has had an impact on the Canadian legal system and society by bringing more of an attraction to lower status groups, having an influence on others, and changing laws in Canada. Many Canadians believe Trudeau did not have a positive effect on Canada but as the minister of justice and the prime minister of Canada, he has succeeded in his attempt of making Canada a safer and established country for all. Under the social welfare measures in 1968, Trudeau made the Divorce Act a federal law which previously was a provincial jurisdiction. Pierre Trudeau’s first move as prime minister was giving French and English equal status in Canada and making them the languages of parliament for debates and records. After failing at many attempts
The Liberal party was successful in the past due to its ability to reinvent itself in order to meet the changing circumstances and needs. The ‘proactive’ Liberal was strangely absent in the pre-2011 election campaign and turned themselves into a reactive and passive entity just to defend and respond to the opposition’s unscrupulous campaign of personal attacks and vilification. Liberals were always based firm on their political values and philosophy; however, these vital elements of the party were not seen to being used during the campaign for 2011 election as much as it was seen being caught in the mud-tossing against the Harper Government.
Pierre Trudeau was one of Canada's most loved and respected Prime Ministers in the history of Canada. He was born on October 18, 1919 in Montreal, Quebec. Trudeau's father, Charles-Emile was a successful entrepreneur and lawyer and his mother, Grace Elliot was of French-Scottish origins and came from a wealthy Montreal family. Both parents spoke French, but English was the language they preferred to speak at home. He had an older sister named Suzette and a younger brother named Charles Junior.

The legalization of marijuana has been a polarizing topic and argument for years. In the YouTube video Top 10 Reasons Why Weed Should Be Legal Danny Burke argues for the legalization of marijuana, but he relies on several logical fallacies, including abusing expertise, and red herrings to make his case. He doesn’t make a strong case for the legalization of marijuana. The number one argument that is made in this video is that the prohibition on marijuana hasn’t worked.
Marijuana is a drug that is spreading all around the world and is now proven to be the most beneficial drug out there. More than 25 million Americans annually use it each year. If the country legalized it then everyone would have more jobs available to go around such as harvesters, dispensary clerks, distributors, or croppers. Thus, the unemployment rate is lowered and America could make more money if they taxed it (Jack). Not only could they tax it but also save more money because they would not have to lock up those people getting arrested every year. That way America could lower the country’s debt and then there is a lot less people in prisons. It would save the country billions of dollars each
