Today raising cost of heath care has effected the lower middle class tens of thousands in debt that lead them to bankruptsy; but resent laws passed by the Bush administration (undoubtedly lobbied by hospitals boards) making it nearly impossible for people in the middle class to file chapter 7 bankrupsy that starts them off with a clean start. Instead forcing them to file for chapter 13 that involves large sum of money be produced in *5 yrs with penalties ranging to imprisonment if the debtors defaults on payment. Grace Pettigrew, my mother who is 67 years old received a $1,101.00 pension check once a month with no other income or assistance from the governments’ states that she is unable to afford health care insurance and that she over qualify for government assistance. The Medicare plan is expensive and would leave Grace short on bills or food. Therefore, my mother rely she said on community based services at a hospital in Georgia name Grady Memorial Hospital Grace (2012). As a Health Care Supervisor, for the Home Health and Hospice department where I see on average 250 referrals a week I’m faced with many different scenarios. The hardest thing for a Healthcare manager is there’s never a one size fits all approach. One of the hardest projects I’m working on is the patient care experience advisory team. This team focuses on improving patient care experience while driving HCAHPs scores. Health care is now publicized, and with the new health care model individuals have the right to choose their health care provider. Reimbursement of services is also impacted by these various scored measurements.

The asthma patient had to refrain from any physical activity while he was at school before exercise could trigger his asthma symptoms. Also, the influenza patient mentioned that they had to take some time off work in order not to expose their colleagues to the influenza virus. Towards the ending of the month, they found that their income was affected by the time off and said they would have to work harder when they returned to catch up. From this, it is clear that work related issues can affect individuals negatively, however some issues related to work can affect health care professionals too.

My internship was with Sheppard Pratt Health System. A Hospital, that focuses mainly on mental health and substance abuse patents. Sheppard Pratt Health System offers both inpatient and day program center. My project was on Discharge planning. Its purpose is to aim to improve the coordination of services after discharge considering the patient’s best needs in the community. When a health care provider is designing an educational program to clearly articulate objectives to engage both patient as well as their families, the learning objective should be written in behavioral terms defining specific learning outcomes the participant is expected to accomplish at the completion of the learning activity. The learning objective should clearly state the purpose, the procedure, and the outcome (nhnurses, n.d). By providing the patient the purpose of the learning objective they will have a better understanding of why they are needing to fulfill the objectives that you proposed. It is important for the health care provider to state or demonstrate the step by step procedure because it guides the patient and their family on how to properly execute the activity.
