As a young child, the immediate family is the biggest influence on nutrition because they are the first role models and establish the initial habits that the individual will develop. The article Simple Rules for Healthy Eating by Aaron E. Carroll which mainly focuses on what you should and shouldn’t eat more of. It also mentions how putting salt, fats, butter, and oil into your food is a necessity. This article makes me think about how eating heavily processed foods may be causing the worst health outcomes. I agree with what is being said in this article because the author list most of the food products that may be causing you or a loved ones to have health problems. Also, it mentions when eating at a restaurant you should take into consideration that not all of your food may be unprocessed. It also mentions how you shouldn’t judge what other people are eating because everyone has the rights to do what they want no matter
I believe the two most important Dietary guidelines are Helping Americans Make Healthy Choices, and increasing our consumption of vegetables, fruits, and calcium, discussed in Chapter 4. If we continue to help Americans make healthy choices and make those choices visible, we might be able to get more people physically active. Increasing consumptions of vegetables, fruits, and calcium will reduce your risk of many chronic diseases, stroke, cancer, and diabetes. Calcium, fruits, and vegetables make your body stronger and maintain your body, without them your body becomes weak.
Individual’s diets are influenced by various circumstances which means everyone’s diet is unique to them. I live in student housing at IUSB so I provide my own food the majority of the time. I keep the apartment well stocked, so food is always available. I usually eat lunch on campus at the Grill or Sub Connection, where food is also in abundance. The food I eat on campus does not cost me anything since I use the money put on my crimson card by the school. I receive $300 dollars a semester on my card since I live in housing. I do not spend a large amount of money on the food that I buy myself to stock the apartment. It probably adds up to around $50 dollars a month. I provide my own meals most days. When I go home, my parents always make dinner.
A goal of mine is to modify how much processed food I eat because I want to live a healthier lifestyle. In, “Eating Made Simple” by Marion Nestle she discusses ideas on how to become healthier. Nestle notes, “eat less, move more; eat fruits, vegetables, and whole grains; and avoid too much junk food” (37). Nestle argues that experts disagree on most notions concerning what is healthy and what is not. Nevertheless, they all came to an agreement in the basic idea of healthy eating. This suggests that living a healthier lifestyle could be rather simple if you follow these simple steps. My family and I eat an enormous amount of junk food, and I would like to change that so we can live a healthier lifestyle.
The three-day diet analysis was interesting. There were many positive attributes to it and definitely negative ones. Over the course of the three days, which were Friday, Saturday and Sunday: and figured this would give a good depiction of what I was consuming on a regular basis. In some places I was consuming more than I should be and in some I was consuming less than I should be. There were also those places were I was getting just the right amount. It is so interesting to me to be able to find out what I am consuming and how I am consuming it. Being an active male, it was most interesting of what I ate, what my average of the three days were, and the plan on how I would correct the way I eat to make it a more healthier lifestyle.

While eating healthy would stop you from getting sick, and lower the cost of health care, healthy eating can enrich your body and prevent you from getting high doctor bills.
