Helen Keller National Honor Society

Simply being invited to become a member of the National Honor Society is a privilege. It’s not necessarily surprising to me that I was invited but rather gives me an exhilarating feeling. A part of me now knows that my sedulous efforts have finally paid off. Throughout my high school career so far I’ve exhibited the four pillars, which are scholarship, leadership, character, and service. This organization administers a plethora of opportunities that has an impact on the students and the lives of others especially. To be accepted into the National Honor Society would motivate me to contribute even more to not only our school but also the community.

Since entering the National Honor Society I have learned the significance of hard work. Good grades, the ability to show cooperation and leadership, and having the desire to help others without instruction are needed in the society. The National Honor Society has revealed the importance of hard work to me, and once inaugurated, one's efforts cannot slack up. One must still be engaged in keeping good grades, participating in voluntary work, and doing everything to the absolute best of your ability.

We all know that the National Honor Society is focused on the four main points of character, service, scholarship, and last but not least leadership. I am asking that you take consideration of these four points in my very own life.

The four pillars of National Honor Society (NHS) include scholarship, service, leadership, and character. I have already received this application opportunity due to meeting the requirements of the scholarship portion of NHS, which requires a strong commitment to learning and putting effort towards achieving high grades in the classroom. I intend to benefit the remaining three pillars of service, leadership, and character through my willingness to work for others free of reward, initiative to lead my peers, and optimal decision making.

Being inducted into National Honors Society requires a student to demonstrate all of the four qualities many of our role models in the present and in the past have possessed, which include: scholarship, service, leadership and character. As I’m considered a candidate for this group, I already possess the quality of scholarship and it is my duty in this paper to show that I hold the other three important attributes needed to qualify for this institution.

I am privileged to be one of the remarkable students qualified to join Eureka High School’s National Honor Society. I have been looking forward to applying to this organization as it provides influential help in our society. I would be privileged to join this distinguished association because it would provide me with opportunities to get involved in my community. As a hardworking, helpful, and friendly individual, I feel that I would make an auxiliary member to this organization. I demonstrate the qualities that are necessary to join this prestigious society, including leadership, character, scholarship, and service.

Many only see the National Honor Society as an organization that will look excellent on college applications, and although that may be true, the National Honor Society is not an organization that can be taken so lightly. The National Honor Society is so much more than a scholarship-granting organization, the NHS is an organization that helps develop the requisite for render service and the development of leadership and character. The growth and success of the NHS relies on not only its members, but also those outside of the organization. Its members can only do so much on their own. The National Honors Society allows students to be build and create traits that are essential in a successful adult. I truly believe that hold many of these traits and joining the National Honor Society will grant me the opportunity to expand on these traits and grow as a person. Thus far I have focus greatly on the scholarship aspect of NHS and have been dedicated to my academics. I have held my GPA above 4.0 and have always been devoted to maintaining that high level of academic success. The skills I have shown in devoting myself to my academics can be easily translated into my dedication for the other aspects of leadership, service and character. In addition to scholarship, National Honor Society emphasizes community service. I have a passion for service and have been involved in service projects through my church, Dance Team, FFA and 4H. As I reflect on all of the community service events I have assisted in, I have realized that each time I have helped others, I have grown as a person. I have learned to be appreciative of all of the opportunities that my situation has provided for me. Leadership is yet another quality that National Honor Society builds. I have worked on developing my leadership skills through my participation in 4H, church youth group, FFA, and dance. The four pillars of the National Honor Society create a unique balance for any student that follows them. Personally, I excel in scholarship because I truly enjoy going to school and intend to go many more years in the future. My college interests involve the honors college at the university I am attending as well as a pre-medical path; therefore, my education, or scholarship will be a vital part of my college experience. Out of the four characteristics of National Honor Society, I felt the most important is a character. It’s because it distinguishes how your behavior shows daily the way you carry yourself every day. Got to bat for your convictions about great and awful, be your best self, and oppose social weight to do the wrong thing for the right reason. Good characters show respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship in all their actions every day. “Reputation is the shadow. I am tremendously honored to be a candidate for the National Honor Society. I have seen such sincere values in many of my peers who have been inducted in the last years, and am thrilled to have a chance to join them. The values NHS represents match so closely with my own.
