Never Give Up
I have read two books with my group. The books were Henry’s Freedom Box and Wilma Unlimited. The theme of both books was to never give up, but the approach to teaching the theme was both similar and different. Let’s start with the similarities.
There are many similarities as to how the authors taught the theme. One similarity is that their lives were difficult. Henry was a slave who didn’t even know his own birthday, and Wilma had a crippled leg and couldn’t walk. Another similarity is that they are both African American. Since they are African American, Henry was a slave and Wilma was segregated. Now let’s learn about some differences.
There are also many differences that the authors taught us. For example, their family support
The characters both share qualities of the same agender but use them for different reasoning. For instance, Mr. Harrison and Atticus are very similar in a way that they are both driven to look beyond what is in front of them. They believe in ways that others don’t and are always looking to the future. We can see that Mary Jackson and Tom share a similarity when they both stand for trials in court. Katherine and Atticus also share a similarities as they stand up and defend people whether it be another person or themselves.
The Help and To Kill a Mockingbird share many themes between characters and their problems, while also telling to diverse stories. A good example would be Celia Foote and Boo Radley, who desire friendship because they’re seen differently, but go about getting friends in different ways. Celia Foote from The Help and Boo Radley from To Kill a Mockingbird share the ostracization from their peers and wrongful accusations. Although they have many similarities, Celia is more open and willing to become friends and part of the group and has a husband, while Boo stays rather shy and has no one but his harsh brother.
Though, I can compare both because they do have some things in common. They are both White Americans which make them eligible to have a good future and be able to vote. The difference is that one catches the most attention when the other is kind of ignored. They also think differently, Miriam is positive and sees African Americans as friends. While Tucker sees them as outcasts of society, he doesn’t want them winning their Civil Rights any time soon. I can also say that they are kind of relatable because they both are able to get a job and have plenty of food to eat. These are just some differences and some things they have in common.
When two people are compared everyone pays attention to the similarities, but not nearly as many people pay attention to the differences. Frederick Douglass was a slave in his youth life and soon escaped to his freedom and became a writer. From A Raisin In The Sun, walter Lee is a man of the middle class and thrives for money. When Frederick Douglass and Walter Lee are compared there are multiple differences. These differences are work ethic, what is important, and also loyalty.
One similarity is that, both Emmett Till and Tom Robinson never got justice. In the end of To Kill a Mockingbird, Tom was shot and killed trying to escape because he knew he didn’t do anything wrong, but the court was still going to find him guilty because he was a black man. In the Emmett Till case, Till was kidnapped and murdered, and the guilty men were acquitted and protected from further prosecution.
The most common similar that both men had was, that they were both brave slaves that did not give up. Wesley Harris and Jeffery both received help from others. For example Jeffery received help from his master because after begging the master to buy Dorcas. The master finally deceived to buy her. While on the other hand, Harris received help from one of the slaves to get him a rope and some nails. Even after being caught escaping he still tried it one more time. The both men were desperate for getting their freedom. And another alike thing that both men had was that they both got unexpected
The first similarity I noticed was the theme of family and power. I noticed this because in Harry Potter he goes through many problems with his family where he doesn't get alot of attention and there are alot of negative feelings and emotions towards each other. Harry also knows magic and goes to a magic school. His uncle gets very mad that he gets to go and is getting attention and starts to get mad and calls him names. Since Harry knows magic and the Dursleys don't, it shows that he has an advantage and has power. I noticed this in Matilda too because right when she is born and they just throw her in the trunk of the car and don’t pay any attention to her as she grows up, and they give her a hard
Both of these stories show that both characters show courage in their situations, no matter what the situation is they both show courage. The next similarity is that they both characters have people depending on them. In
there are so many differences that i can't think of them all. but there are so little big similarities that i can't think about either. the biggest
In the story, Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote and The Watsons Go to Birmingham both have a common theme which is perseverance. The theme shows how the two passages are similar when the Watsons stood up for what they believed in and when Susan B Anthony stood up for women’s rights and what she believed in. Even though the passages are the same the same theme, the characters handled it differently by the way they were being treated. when the Watsons do it for themselves and Susan B. Anthony did it for an entire nation.
I observe only one similarity in both stories, which they were on a road and crash cars, this is an only similarity in those two stories which I can think of it. I did not notice any of the characters of both stories in the sense of similarity. But the jack and grandmother were kind of same sense of selfness. The both character think only for them self and want all the intension towards them.
All the characters want to prove a point in their stories. Julia and Harrison are alike because they both have a dictator to make them alike and different. They both different because Julia wants to move to U.S and Harrison is thinking about moving in the U.S. In Sniper and Harrison, they both alike by talking about killing each other and they both have enemy in their story. They both different because they both are kind of smart like Harrison B. and Sniper is not at all in the story. In the same ways, Liberty and Sniper are alike cause liberty and Sniper both want freedom and Liberty in their stories.
Few similarities was when the step mother makes them clean up while the other two doesn't do anything and just sits there. Another similarity is when Chantella and Ella's mom dies, they were unhappy. Both of their father ended up marrying to an step mother who was evil. The 3rd similarity is when their dad passes away. The fourth similarity is in Cinderella, Ella's father is soiling his new wife and his step daughter. When Mara and the twins move in after the wedding the father just lets the twins take Chantella's room, and moves her to the maids quarters. In both books there is also one person that helps them out. Like in Cinderella, the fairy god mother helps her get to the ball. In The Glass Voice, Verna helps Chantella make it to the auditions.
Now these are some similarities between both of their stories. One of these similarities are, They both lived in the ghetto. You can tell by the poem
The two main differences of
