The United States of America is known for the land of the free and the home of the brave but there has had to be a lot of sacrifice for our freedom and we don’t give enough appreciation to the ones who gained it. We use the word hero to describe the veterans who fought for our country but really there is not word in any language that can describe how blessed we are to have the people who fought for us. There are so many people who go on with life and don’t think about what we take for granted. We are able to live how we want to live and do what we want to do and all our thanks everyday needs to go to the ones who made this possible, our veterans. You should always be thankful for what many people around the world have done for us and all the
As a nation, we need to be thankful for our veterans. The men and women who join the military undergo nine weeks, or more, of boot camp. That right there is said to be the most laborious nine weeks of anyone’s life. Drill sergeants break them down both emotionally and physically, so they can improve upon them and make them stronger. Those are the people we should be thanking, the ones who fight to preserve our country’s freedom, equality, and the pursuit of happiness. Those are the fundamentals of our Constitution that those people fight to protect. However, after their service, it doesn’t seem like people know that.
It is important to remember how much of daily life is affected by the work of veterans. Walking on streets, going to school, eating at restaurants, and hanging out with friends all depend on the service of veterans. They may not receive the proper amount of recognition from the younger generations, but their work is appreciated. In actuality, they gained vital information that can be shared with the future generations. They have gained respect and honor for their duty for our
American Heroes were inspired by Greek Tragic Heroes, yet both are very different from each other, but American Heroes have very similar traits to those who are Contemporary Heroes. An American Hero is a person who seeks justice and always defeats the enemy which results in all people having the justice they deserve. American Heroes also tends to protect all and has the tendency to fall in love with the “ damsel in distress”. This type of hero goes about his daily life, just like anyone else would, until it is time to fight, and at that time, their “supernatural” powers shine through in their fighting techniques. On the other side, all Tragic Heroes possess a flaw that will change their life from a life of happiness to a life of pain and despair. Ordinarily, Contemporary Heroes have nearly the same traits as American Heroes. Contemporary Heroes save and protect many individuals from violence and harm and lives a normal life until they have to face another obstacle. Both American and Contemporary Heroes are able to celebrate their victories, while Tragic Heroes can not do so because they are not victorious.
“Heroes and victims are the product of the mood they were in when opportunity came or when circumstances were at their worst” said Orson Scott Card. In every movie or television show has a hero and victim but which one is going to have the fans and watchers vote? A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. As an anti-heroic is one who doesn 't act like a typical hero but often is a little villainous. Heroes are from many different cultures for example superman and batman. Chuck Bass is an anti-heroic main character, from the novel and television show Gossip Girls, where he is noted for his financial ambition, hedonism, and personal style. Bass is a huge
I appreciate America’s Veterans because they have served for us back then and have protected us. Especially they gave up their lives when they were young, For instance, some of the Veterans were poor and had nothing and they went to the military to be a better person.
Why are veterans considered heroes? I believe that veterans are heroes because they willingly put there life on the line for other people in our country. They left their families to help the rest of the country. Just thinking about leaving my family is heartbreaking. I look at the veterans i know and wonder how they did it, how hard it was for them to leave there all the time ,to miss holidays and birthday. It had to be even harder to only get to see your kids and wife every couple months or even two or three times a year.this is why i think veterans are heroes.
Veterans are heros because they risk their lives everyday. They leave their families for everyone in the U.S.A because they love us so much. Everyday people die in the army and other branches to save lives., because if they did’ not protect us then no one would. I wish everyone serving our country a big thank you
When you hear the word ‘hero,’ you probably envision someone wearing a uniform, serving the country and preparing for war. We place veterans and soldiers in the spotlight at the mention of it. The population never did this in the past. Americans saw veterans as regular people just like us. They were: tall and short, smart and dumb, and capable of bad and good decisions. However, now we treat them as if they were gods. We do this because we saw veterans as our protectors against the dangers our country faces. Yet, we still felt like this in the past, but we didn’t honor veterans like in today’s society; maybe it’s because less soldier were returning in body bags.
It is important to know the sacrifices that were made for the United States of America and to realize that these sacrifices are still being made daily. We need to be thankful for the military and display honor towards the active soldiers and veterans. They make tremendous sacrifices including risking their lives to uphold our civil liberties so that we can reside in peace and live in a free country. As we honor and respect our military, we also can show pride with our government.
Do be thankful that we are American and that we have the freedom that we have
Every child has fantasy's of being a super hero and leaping tall buildings in a single bound or staring death in the face everyday and somehow finding a way to escape. All of these imaginative thoughts have been derived from the past literary works by the great writers of the early American literary period. These early writers entered society into a world of action and adventure, where one can see spectacular events unfolding through the eyes of a notorious man of courage and feel as though they are defending there country or saving the woman they love. Though the modern heroes are much more
Throughout history, heroes have exhibited a common theme: save the lives of as many people as possible. Achilles, Napoleon, and Alexander the Great were idolized as the ideal figures of historical times, and common traits of a dignified social position and a militaristic past could be found in most “heroic” figures. Even through the 20th century, standout icons included Winston Churchill and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, both World War II heroes in elevated government positions. Nonetheless, the new century would prove to bring change to the definition of a hero; the September 11th attacks ushered in a tidal wave of social change. On the horrific day in American history, ordinary people rose to the occasion and risked their lives for the survival of countless others. From this act of terrorism, the definition of a “hero” was redefined; no longer does a hero have to be a war hero or save the lives of the entire nation, but a selfless act of bravery for others can be truly heroic.
Whether in ancient times or in the modern world, heroes still serve the purpose of influencing people to be more courageous, and to reach for higher goals. Heroes are known mainly for their fearless acts or noble character. Heroes prompt people to better themselves, as they help us to dream larger, and work harder. Heroes never give up in their daring acts and encourage other people to do the same. The definition of a “hero” depends on the era in which they lived in. In ancient times, heroes were more physically powerful and praised than those idolized in the modern world.
Modern day heroes can be very important. These heroes importance on americans is that they help us, the people in many different ways like physically and mentally/ vocally. These heroes empower common people to do better. these heroes importance to the world is greatest, they help us to be better (and make the world better) and learn from them. So with these three thing Modern day Heroes better our world and we would be nothing without them.
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no its Superman! You remember these comic book heroes don’t you? For decades comic book characters such as Superman, Spiderman, Batman, and Wonder Woman have captured the imaginations of American children and adults alike. “Superheroes” they have been coined. But these figures only exist in our imaginations. Batman is not really there to save us from villains such as the Joker and the Riddler is he? Because these heroes are fictional, we are left without real life heroes, or are we? There must be heroes or there would never b e a peaceful night’s rest, we would be afraid to go outside for fear of being hurt, and our life would be lived in a constant paranoia that something or someone is going to kill us. But,
