The narrative written by Judith Ortiz Cofer discusses some of the many experiences she has encountered throughout her life dealing with stereotypes and common misconceptions of Latin American women. To further engage her audience in the story, she provides detailed past experiences that have stood out to her the most. In order for the readers to fully understand those past encounters, some of which are cultural and common among Latinos, Cofer explains them in careful detail. For example, Cofer explains the concept of piropos which are poems composed on the spot by men to women as a form of admiration. This helps her introduce the audience to her own experiences with piropos and how she has dealt with them throughout her life. One of the

Although I have not appreciated writing like I should, it has increased my knowledge on many subjects. From reading vivid stories to reading elaborative articles on difficult subjects, I've developed the skills necessary to understand at least the minimum that is required to continue through the subject. Because of this, I appreciate what I've learned from reading and writing countless short stories, elaborative essays, and reading books on subjects I am interested in.

The assignment i’ve chose for my portfolio is “The Memoir of Leilani Vance’ essay.The memoir was about my father Chris Vance , he was in the army and died in the line of duty . I chose to write about my father for the memoir because he was a great father, brother, and uncle , and i will always love & miss him. This was challenging because it's hard to talk about him , i barely even knew my father .

I was checking the Miami Heat schedule for next week and they will be playing at home against the Chicago Bulls. That means the return of Dwyane Wade to Miami. I will have to go live to the AA Arena that day.

This section employs narrative analysis to the story A League of Their Own in order to highlight the moral of the film that women have a choice over their future and do not have to be stay-at-home mothers. Once again, “a story needs a plot with a beginning, middle, and end” (Sellnow, 2014, p. 60). Dottie and Kit’s story begins in the small farm town where they work at the dairy and play ball for fun. During a game, a recruiter takes notice of Dottie, then from there, Dottie and Kit’s baseball career takes off. Their upward progression proves that anything is possible. Tensions run high between sisters Dottie and Kit. Kit hates how good Dottie is at baseball and does not believe that Dottie wants to even be on the team. All the while, Dottie does not understand Kit’s frustration. Dottie tells Mr. Lowenstein she is leaving if she is not put on another team. Instead, Kit gets put on another team.

I just can’t believe the choices I’ve made. Well most of them. Why do I have such bad luck, especially with Barry? I guess I’ve grown as a person throughout grade 9. Maybe it was all character building. Well looking back it didn’t have to be a big deal. Come the end of the year I care less about what people think because I have good friends. I’m even happier I took up debating as a hobby, it has really helped me with my social ability. Oh and I should have supported James scobie in his battle against Barry, not that he ever looked like needing it. But I’m happy for standing up for what turned out to be Kelly Faulkner’s little brother, after all it’s going to give me a bonus if I choose to ask her out no that was a good choice.

When there is a person who has the power to either save the world or destroy it, they tend to be rather influential and fascinating. For this creative journal, I chose to represent Josh. Josh is a noteworthy character. He has an ongoing internal battle deciding whether he wants to side with Flamel or Dee. Both Flamel and Dee are mysterious in Josh’s eyes. The reader is swayed believe that Flamel is the righteous figure and Dee is the devious figure thus far, but there is no concrete certainty. Josh also deeply envies his sister’s powers after she was awoken.
