My senior year of high school, I had a senior project in which we had to design something. To make the project interesting and more fun, my teacher told us to pick a topic that has to do with what we love. Some other people's topics were food, sports and even video games. Of course on the other hand, I chose children. To narrow down the topic I specifically chose babysitting because I have been a babysitter for quite a few years and have experience with it. I want to be an elementary school teacher so babysitting was a close enough topic. For my senior project I created an in depth website for babysitters. My babysitter website is named Babysitter-pedia and it incorporates anything and everything a babysitter needs to know. It has first-aid,
My projects for the year included Leadership, Market Beef, Visual Arts and Crafts, Photography, Woodworking, Shooting Sports — Air Rifle and BB gun, Girls Buymanship, Clothing Construction, and Foods & Nutrition. I enjoy
I did my placement at the Halifax Street Children Centre & Preschool. It is for children from only months old up till five years of age, just before leaving for school. I worked in the baby room which was children under the age of two. I chose the career as in my effort to find a placement I found out that I couldn’t work in a hospital so I had to come up with something else. I have always wanted to work with children and I really like the idea of paediatrics, so that’s when I decided to try out childcares. The methods that worked best for me was to be organised and always be in contact with the company before the week. The methods that didn’t work was not asking enough questions before the placement. Some things were still a surprise when
Over the summer I volunteered with kids helping them learn math and just ensuring they had a fun. We also took them on field trips and played games with them. One day in the summer one of the two teachers called and said they weren't going to come in that day because they were sick. That created the problem of what were we gonna do with 30 children from 3rd to 6th grade and for two hours now that one of the teachers won't be there. My objective was to make sure those kids had a fun day at camp.I ended up coming up with the idea of googling arts and crafts since we already had paint and paper. I ended up finding this really cool elephant we could make; it would take like maybe thirty minutes to make. After that, I found this cool art trick with tape, paper, and paint and that took care of the time and it occupied the kids.
My project was to help the community through a hospital by supplying them with raised garden beds
In my class website, their icons are Superman and Batman. They are very big fans of these superheroes. We even got Social Norms on the board. "You don´t get what you want, you get what you work for. ¨ It is in our classroom on the wall close to the door. Success is not always about greatness, It´s about Consistent. Consistent HARD WORK gains success. Greatness will come. It is a quote. In Project Based Learning, you got to apply, analyze, evaluate, and create. And in Textbooks, you understand and remember. I like Project Based Learning more than Textbooks. All of the projects we were done were, Planter Boxes, Road Trip, Website, Newtons Cradle, Respect Skit, Pay it Forward, Footbridge Model, Government Mural, Biomes, Poetry, Native American Story, Cooking, Timeline of the United States, Flood Plan Newspaper Department well as a teacher. They both have a way of making Mountain Home Idaho a better place. On the May 19th, we will be having a big surprise party when the Mayor walks
If I could redo my project, what I would do differently is get more evidence of the projects. With it being such a sensitive topic I couldn’t really take pictures of what the kids said. I also had a bad quality camera which made it difficult to take good pictures so I wish I would have found a better camera.
In the classroom the children are putting their final touches to the building project. Every child had a specific job for the project. It was in between being a plumber, electrician, painter, and carpenter. I was instructed to create a file that had a child picture and dialogue. The following day we were brought into the William Paterson campus. The environment and the professors were very welcoming. We first went into a meeting that involved teacher discussions. The question was “What Schools should focus on.” A lot of teachers had great topics to discuss such as “How could we find money for schools?” I took the advantage to ask a question as well “How could we involve technology in classrooms for the new generation.” This was a topic that I truly was interested in since we talked about it a lot in
For my third trimester service project, I provided help to my school. I went to daycare for two hours helping Mrs. Riley. I helped kindergarteners with their homework inside so that they wouldn’t have any homework to do when they got home. I also helped run a couple games and make sure everyone was making smart decisions on the playground. I then helped Ms. Maynes in the 5th grade classroom for two hours as well. I helped her with cleaning the students desks, I helped with correcting papers and putting them in numerical order, I finished coloring a Mary drawing to put on the bulletin board, and I also helped punch out some letters so she can use them in the classroom. Ms. Maynes was also kind enough to bring me down to the Kindergarten classroom
Someone once said that “Change always has an outcome.” This means that every change you make has a result, every choice you take has a consequence, and everything that happens has an effect. The outcomes of change can be shown through a person’s life, through a text and through the world itself.
I believe that in order to have a nice running daycare I am going to have to work on telling people no. No matter how much it hurts in side in order for me to be successful I am going to have to open my mouth and speak on what I believe is right. So for now on I am willing to work on this. If I don’t feel like doing something for someone or if someone wants something done at last min I am going to work on telling them no maybe next time I can help if you tell me in advance or
I have chosen to investigate Teeny Tots Day Nursery. This is an early years’ service and cares for children from birth to 5 years old. Parents have to pay for their children to go to Teeny Tots Day Nursery.
Do you ever question what you want to be doing for a living? Currently I have two careers I am interested in working in a daycare facility and owning my own in-home daycare. Before deciding between the two there is a few things I had to consider such as the pay, the hours, and investment needed. When working in a daycare facility your pay can range from $7.50-$11.21 making the median hourly salary $8.70. When owning a daycare there is no set salary your salary goes based on your customers unless your customers are willing to pay the price you set then your business can go either way. Next I would consider the hours, when working in a facility your hours are likely to go based on when you are needed as opposed to if I had my own daycare I
My project was to build three park benches for the Pets Alive dog walk area. This is where volunteers can walk the dogs and give them much needed out of kennel time. The volunteers/dog walkers can now sit and rest on the benches that me and my crew built and enjoy a more leisurely experience outside with the dogs.
Maybe if I were more involved with organizations on SLU’s campus, I could have more ideas for a project that pertains to our school specifically. I could attempt to relate my project to something baseball related in my advocacy project, but at this point I would have no idea what to write about for that subject manner. I conducted a lot of service projects while DECA and National Honor Society. While in DECA, I actually helped plan a service project that would give a “Care Package” to a child who was less fortunate. The purpose of the packages were to help the child stay nourished while on winter break, since the school, who offered free lunch students whose families had low income, would no longer be supplying the child with two meals a day(breakfast and lunch). This project was the most impactful on me since I did not realize how many kids from my elementary school were living in
My first day of babysitting wasn't my idea of a fun time. It totally changed my mind about getting up close and personal with kids while playing any sort of game or doing any activity. I started babysitting when i was 14 to make a little cash and it wasn't a big problem because i absolutely loved little kids. I babysat for my moms friend, Sarah. I've known her since i was just a toddler, so i grew up being very close to that family. Then she had a baby and i was so excited because i would have a new buddy, i was hoping for a girl but that didn't happen. So she had a little boy named Ben. He was adorable, and i have always loved little babies.. As he got a little older, Sarah needed a weekend babysitter so she came and talked to my mom
