3,2,1 SWISH! nailing the game winner shot in a high school basketball game is one of the most memorable moments of all for me. So much hard work was placed into this game and to come out as the winner, that moment filled me with joy. I practiced so hard pre-season in the gym going to my local recreational center to shoot hoops just to hone my skills. I have always had the passion for this sport even as a young kid at one point I believed I will be playing in the NBA because I was so determined. But this particular moment was so intense I do not think I will ever forget this moment.
Pre-Season I specifically remember how hard I pushed myself to become the best player I can be. Going to basketball camps, taking advice from older legends to understand the fundamentals more precisely. Shooting and making 100 shots before I go home after playing a pickup game so I could become number one. It just did not seem like practice because I enjoyed it so much.
Growing up I always had this dream of being the next Michael Jordan. I had the vertical, speed, and potential to possibly achieve this goal. My mind was so fixed on basketball I could talk about it for hours because the passion I had for this sport. Most of my friends I know in my city, a big chance they have met me in a game of basketball.
Teammates, I will never forget my partners who assisted me in that amazing victory. It was my sophomore year in high school those guys were like my brothers. They always believed in me and at
I have had many opportunities to create relationships and memories that I would otherwise have not have had. The game of basketball has shaped me into a well-rounded and more productive member of my community. Many hours of practice and studying have allowed me to become successful and earn many honorable awards and recognitions from my teachers, coaches, and administrators.
We all celebrated our greatest achievement as a team winning the championship game and ending the season with only two loses. My play that I had just completed still shocked me, I never thought I would have got two outs against a great team in one play. The funny thing was that I did not even think what I was doing, so I do not know how I did it! Nevertheless, I
Basketball became a place where I could exhibit my talent and it has been so for the past 7 years. Each time I play a match, I set a target for myself to be the top scorer of that game. I only settled for the best. The feeling of a 3 point shot swishing into the net and blocking a shot from my opponent left me feeling immensely satisfied and cool.
Right when the trophy came to my hands, it felt great. Everybody was cheering for us when I went to go pick up the trophy. That could have been the most exciting times in my life. Throughout my life I will never forget that day I scored the winning goal.
I was 12 year old when I started playing basketball. My dream was to be similar to Michael Jordan. However, my GBL team has lost every game since I’ve started playing basketball. I was also playing with my older brother Jeremiah for the first time, but we were always fighting about whose better. I knew this season would bring us together. With a lot of hard work we finally won. It took me and my brother to work together to win.
I first learned how to do a backflip on a trampoline by watching a youtube video and I got it really fast. So then I started going to the class to learn. This Saturday I finally landed my backflip flat. That was a very exciting moment in my life which showed me that if I want to learn something I should set my mind to it and I could do anything. Another exciting moment in my life was when I made a buzzer beater to win my basketball team the championship. My team was down 33-20 at halftime. Our coach talked to us and we got our head back in the game. We started catching up to them, with a minute left they were leading 45-43. We were all very nervous but we had to be cold-blooded. My teammate stole the ball from them and scored. So it was a tied game but it was their ball with 20 seconds. A mistake from them was that they did not take the last shot. They shot a 3 pointer but missed, my coach called a timeout and told me to take the last shot with ten seconds left. My teammate passed me the ball from the sideline, I started walking up the court, I passed the half with 5 seconds left faked to the left my defender fell for it I jump to the right and took the 3-point shot. As the ball was in the air the buzzer rang but a moment after the ball swished in and we won! That was my best game as we won 48-45 and I scored 22 points of the
The team wasn’t too great, we won about as many times as we lost, but that was fine. I struggled beyond belief, leading the team in strikeouts at the plate. One night we were in a tied up game heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. We managed to get a runner to third, but with two outs I couldn’t bunt. Once I had watched the first two pitches go by for strikes I knew I had to be looking to swing and come through. I had a feeling that everyone assumed I was about to strike out once again. But once I saw the pitch leave the pitcher’s hand, I knew it was all mine and connected on a line drive to left-center field. Hearing all of my teammates and the parents yell for me felt amazing. The ball landed landed deep in the outfield and as soon as I reached first base I realized I has just hit my first walk-off ever as the run crossed home to score the winning run. Soon my teammates ran out to bash my helmet and congratulate me on my feat. I’ll always carry that moment as my favorite sports memory of all time and I will never forget
My team won 3 out of 4 hockey games in my hockey tournament. It was the championship game for a banner and a medal. We were playing the Ice Dogs who we had originally beaten 3-1. Over the summer we did so much dry land on the track and my dad said it will all pay off today. I stepped on the ice for warm ups and the ice felt smooth under my skates. I was prepared for a hard hockey game.
Winning the state championship in baseball was one of the greatest moments in my life so far. I remember loading the bus to go down to Montgomery; our parents were giving us baskets filled with candy and snacks for us to eat on the trip down there. Every player was full of excitement and anticipation. We all watched movies and listen to music the entire bus ride. It might have seemed as if some of us were taking this moment for granted, but I think that was because our team knew that there was no doubt soon we would be state champions.
In addition to everything that happened prior to my high school years, my freshman year was one, if not, my most memorable when it comes to sports. Track may have been my only sport in high school but I took a great deal or pride and passion in what I was doing and the team I was on, felt like another family. We had a track meet in Eudora, Kansas, and I was on the four by one team relay, which is four people that each run a 100 meter dash and pass off a baton. I was the anchor of the team and we were in first place in the event. When I got the
The most exciting moment was probably last year when I won conference. It was just a great feeling to beat somebody who I knew was also really good, and then just celebrate with my teammates and coaches afterwards.
It was the last game of the season, a televised football competition vs Murphy high school, a big rivalry game that Vigor was projected to lose. Going into the game I never knew how much this game would change my life. Down 28-27 in the fourth quarter with three minutes and eight seconds left on the game clock, my teammates and coaches leaned on me to close out the game to help ensure a victory.
For basketball I have achieved a lot, in my mind. My sister and I have a team, The Lady Warriors, that has traveled out of state quite a bit. My team and my family worked together to raise enough money to we could go to more places and get more experience. Lady Warriors has gone to Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Las Vegas, and
I played basketball from 3rd grade until 8th grade. I would work my butt off the whole time I remember the last game I ever played. We lost both of are biggest players. One went to play for another team at a different tournament and the other had been elbowed above the eye and had to go to the hospital for stitches. We did not have many kids left who were tall, so we had to push harder to try and win. Everyone wanted to give up because our biggest players were gone but I just wanted to give it all. I pressured the offense as much as I could, trying to steal the ball for a fast break because with my skills the best way for me to score was a lay-up. I would swat at any shot, dive at any loose ball, and throw myself into anywhere to keep it out of the other teams hands, but my team had already given up. Right then and there I was so disgusted that when the game was over I decide
The sight and sound of watching the basketball swish through the net are second to none. For this reason and much more, I have fallen in love with the game of basketball and all the sport has to offer. From an extremely young age until now I have played the game and I hope to be either playing or involved with the game as long as I live. I have tried many other sports including soccer, football, and lacrosse but none can compare to the pleasure and passion that I have for basketball. This has become more than a sport for me, it has become a passion and something that I have dedicated my time, energy and hard work into.
