I want a president with a record of public service. Someone whose life’s work shows our children that we don't chase fame and fortune for ourselves; we fight to give everyone a chance to succeed. And we give back even when we are struggling ourselves because we know that there there is someone worse off. There but for the grace of God, go I. I want a president who will teach our children that everyone in this country matters. A president that truly believes in the [precedent] that our founders put forth all those years ago — that we are all created equal, each a beloved part of the great American story. When crisis hits, we don't turn against each other, we listen to each other. We lean on each other. We are always stronger together. I am here tonight because I know that that is the kind of president Hillary Clinton will be and that is why in this election, I'm with her. You see, Hillary understands that …show more content…
Leaders like Tim Kaine, who show our kids what decency and devotion look like. Leaders like Hillary Clinton, who have the guts and the grace to keep coming back and putting those cracks in the highest and hardest glass ceiling until they finally break through, lifting all of us along with her. That is the story of this country. The story that has brought me to the stage tonight. The story of generations of people who felt the lash of bondage, the shame of servitude, the sting of segregation, who kept on striving, and hoping, and doing what needed to be done. So that today, I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves. And I watch my daughters — two beautiful intelligent black young women — play with the dog on the White House
The great strong standing United States of America is known today as one of the most power houses in the world. The principles she was founded on included on freedom and prosperity for some. In the founding years of an entity the most work is done in laying down the foundation. America chose to complete the task of building a beautiful nation of freedom and prosperity through the exploitation of slaves. Today, blacks in America are still healing from the scars that slavery in America has written on African American DNA. The fruits of slavery produced the internalization of negative: mentalities, inferiority of identity, and images in black media.
Hillary believes the immigration enforcement needs to be humane, watched and affected. Hillary will focus on those who are doing illegal things and deporting those individuals who put on a violent act to public safety, and ensure refugees who seek asylum in the U.S have a fair chance to tell their stories. She believes we are for families and need to pull it together and help with the problems that revolve around our broken immigration system. The American people support comprehensive immigration not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it will help all of us, strengthening our community and economy.
President. Through the use of ethos, pathos and logos her supporters and all the Americans watching would maybe consider the fact that Hillary Clinton might be the right candidate to be the President of the United States of America. In fact, Michelle Obama uses a form of metaphor by repeating the word “we” throughout her speech referring to Barack Obama, herself and her audience as well. A form of repetition is a step closer to delivering a powerful speech. She supports her argument by stating, “And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters — and all our sons and daughters — now take for granted that a woman can be President of the United States” (Michelle Obama). She also states that Hillary Clinton has never quit on anything in her life. For example, Hillary Clinton has lost the presidential election once and came back stronger the second time around.
“What I told you is what your grandparents tried to tell me: that this is your country, that this is your world, that this is your body, and you must find some way to live within the all of it.” (Coates). This powerful quote exemplifies the mistreatment of blacks in America as something that has been prevalent throughout our nation’s history and is still present in our contemporary world. Our national founding document promised that “All men are created equal”. As a nation we have never achieved the goal of equality largely because of the institution of slavery and its continuing repercussions on American society.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A., she attended Wellesley College, then earning a J.D. (Juris Doctor) from Yale Law School in 1973. This hardworking presidential candidate is a woman who’s been fighting for children and families for over forty years. Someone who has provided her best works in reaching over the limits of a woman and providing millions of children with health care. This person is Hillary Clinton, and these are the only some of the biggest accomplishments she has made during her lifetime, there can and will be more if she gets voted as President of the United States of 2016-2020. She has been through many experiences in government, such as being an American lawyer and politician, U.S.
Former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton is known throughout the world for the astounding things she has accomplished, not only in the White House, but out. She is full of passion for whatever she sets as her goal. Her confidence and constant motivational talks set a crowd on fire and her vision for the future leaves most encouraged for they know that she’s on their side. She is constantly aware of what others think of her and works her hardest to make the world a better place and gain the trust of the people. Hillary Rodham Clinton was chosen by her husband to be the leader of the Health Care Reform and supervised research, investigatory trips, financial reports, numerous committees composed of medical and insurance professionals, lawmakers and
“Two hundred fifty years of slavery. Ninety years of Jim Crow. Sixty years of separate but equal. Thirty-five years of racist housing policy. Until we reckon with our compounding moral debts, America will never be whole (Coates, 2014).”
As many of you may know today is a day for rebellion, against the slums, the ghettos, the bloody heels of crying children and bad jobs, today we arise as a nation for freedom and equality to stand against segregation. Today we rebel against the aggressors, to make a stand, so that every man, of any race may stand, and coexist as equals. Almost one hundred years ago all of the African Americans made free by the emancipation proclamation. But yet today one hundred, One Hundred, years later we still have to use the colored bathroom, the colored bars, the colored water fountains, and sit on the back of the bus.
Unquestionably, the scourge of slavery has left a dark imprint on African-American history. However, some envisage its nefarious consequences only in terms of those who survived enslavement. Those who, quite frankly, should know better either downplay or outright ignore this terrible event that still causes sizable shock waves in our culture today. An alarming number of people conflate the end of slavery with the end of oppression. While those who were literally enslaved and later emancipated bore the brunt of slavery, the first free generation of children surmounted tremendous obstacles, some of which African-Americans must still face today. Utilizing “Beloved” by Toni Morrison, “The Ghosts of Slavery” by Linda Krumholz, and “Raising Freedom’s
Good evening and Happy Eid everyone. Hope all is well with each and every one of us. I would like to clear myself once for all. I do not wish to get involved in America's Elections once again. And I don't think he wants otherwise. He helped me do everything possible earning the responsibility of being America's Vice President. I guess our best for wasn't good enough for Hillary and the rest of the Clinton's loving family. Bruce and I were extremely surprised, when the Clinton's called me for an interview. Hillary, Chelsea, Huma, and I have been knowing each other since the time began at the States of Illinois, Arkansas, and Michigan all the way to America's House. Read my lips, since I am being the better half of Angela and Her Excellency of
It is undeniable that slavery has affected the American culture, our ancestors who either choose to be in America or were transported here less than 400 years ago. Over an estimated 300,000 slaves were transported to freshly colonized home, laden with diseases and new ordeals (Voyage, 2013). They were forced to work long and hard while their whip-torn bodies lay as an omen to what our freedom is built upon. An omen to how their very own freedom and basic rights are taken all for the advancement of a society that they were marginalized and systematically excluded from. This is the heritage that all Americans, especially African Americans, are so familiar with today. Though African Americans are no longer in the fields being beaten, but the underlying affects of this treatment of their race is irrefutable. Ever since slavery began, African Americans have had to
“The early American economy was built on slave labor. The Capitol and the White House were built by slaves. President James K. Polk traded slaves from the Oval Office. The laments about ‘black pathology,’ the criticism of black family structures by pundits and intellectuals, ring hollow in a country whose existence was predicated on the torture of black fathers, on the rape of black mothers, on the sale of black children. An honest assessment of America’s relationship to the black family reveals the country to be not its nurturer but its destroyer.
The history of America is one that can’t be discussed without talking about the Negro. Whether we want to admit it or not, the Negro has played an integral part in making what America what it is today. If it wasn’t for the profits generated from slavery, there would have been no way that America would have been the country that it is today. The slavery that the Negro endured has produced some positive and negatives, but it is the negatives that have been something that the Negro hasn’t been able to overcome for hundreds of years. It is these same negatives that have compelled some of the greatest black minds in history to create solutions to these problems. Minds such as Crummell, W.E.B Du Bois are some of the minds that have come up with
In the column “Clinton vs. Sanders: Will Democrats choose evolution – or revolution?” Eugene Robinson discusses the differences in political ideology between the two Democratic presidential candidates leading the polls, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Robinson’s central claim is that Clinton embodies slow, gradual change, like evolution, whereas Sanders is more likely to take drastic, immediate action, like a revolution, and that it is up to Democratic supporters to determine which they would most like to see in office.
As the United States prepares for the coming presidential race in 2016, circumstances throw into question which qualities a candidate should possess in order to be successful and make a positive impact on the nation. Looking into the past, one can surmise that the best leaders must be brave, and filled with indomitable courage, compassion, and hope. The president is one leading millions and making key decisions which have enormous ramifications. As the leader of a nation, he or she speaks out in times of joy and crisis, setting the tone for the entire government body.
