Hinduism and Buddhism are different in a few ways. Hinduism was not founded by one particular person while Buddhism was only be founded by the Buddha. Hinduism follows the Hindu Scripture and Buddhism does not. Buddhists believe that their goal in life is to overcome sorrow and Hindus believe there are four goals – Kama, moksha, artha and Dharma. Both religions do however give emphasis to compassion and peace to all living things, in other words no harm shall come to humans or animals. Suffering can be caused by desires therefore I feel with this religion they tend to stay away from things that will cause them emotional suffering. For example: I make the conscious decision to keep a distance from those that may cause me to become more emotional
Buddhism and Hinduism come from the same region, India. Both of them are very focused on nature, the things around them, though they both believe in several hells and heavens, or higher and lower worlds. They both believe in karma which is the affect a person’s actions in this life will change his next life. Another point is that both religions focus on peace, and non violence towards all living things. They are compassionate, which ties into their focus on nature. Buddhism and Hinduism also believe in various spiritual practices such as meditation, concentration, and states of mind. Desire is the largest cause of suffering in both of the faiths. Another likeness is they both believe in reincarnation, and salvation. They believe the good deeds of a person are their work for salvation and their salvation will decide their next life, when they are reincarnated. Also, they both believe that there are many paths to enlightenment, such as overcoming your feelings and controlling over the six senses. Both religions are more philosophical then religious. Buddhists and Hindus both practice many forms of yoga and meditation
In the past few weeks of class we talked about so many different religions around the world. Three religions we discuss in class were Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. These are three of the major religions in the world that still exist today. I will be focusing on how all three religions started, and I will compare and contrast Hinduism and Buddhism. Then at the end, I will discuss on how I feel about the three different religions.
Hinduism and Buddhism are among the oldest traditions in the world. Incidentally, both traditions have their roots in India. Since their beginning, both traditions have co-existed peacefully and even spread beyond India in similar patterns. Most people have scattered information about the traditions and make assumptions that they are similar. However, they also have clear distinguishing features. This paper intends to study the similarities and contrasts between the two traditions in various contexts. First, the traditions will be compared and contrasted based on how they began. The development processes of both religions will then be contrasted. The paper will then discuss the similarities and differences between the two religions based on the social and the political roles they played.
Throughout the world, different nations have different beliefs or religion. Some religions evolve from others, and others are combination of other religions. Religion is a way of life, a lifestyle; it should dictate how you live your life. For instance, in India, Buddhism evolved from Hinduism, a religion were people believe in 300, 000 gods. Even though, Hinduism and Buddhism have different similarities such as believes in god, soul, and rituals, which in some ways connected to each other, both religions believe of what happens after life.
Buddhism and Hinduism are two of the world’s most influential and greatest religions. Buddhism is a religion based on the teachings of the awakened one (Abrams), and Hinduism is the oldest of the world’s greatest religions (Rice). Both of these religions arose in South Asia, thus they share similar culture and philosophy; however, they also contrast greatly with each other in many other aspects. By comparing the rituals of worship of the two religions it is proven that Hinduism worships various deities, whereas Buddhism does not worship any. Rituals of worship such as puja and meditation are practiced in both religions, nevertheless the way and purpose of how they are done differ.
Religion can be found all over the world. Each religion unique as the country they arise from, it just so happens that both Buddhism and Hinduism come from the same region, India. Buddhism and Hinduism share similarities, but also display differences that set them apart from one another.
Undeniably, both Christianity and Buddhism are considered two of the biggest religions in the world. Christianity consists of a larger group with estimated 2,200 million followers, while Buddhism consists of a smaller group with estimated 535 million followers. A statement comes from Huston Smith, a famous author and professor of religious studies in the United States, says that Christianity is the most materialistic religion, while Buddhism is the most psychological religion. With all due respect, I do not agree with the first statement on Christianity as the most materialistic religion on behalf of my personal opinion and understanding, while I do agree with the second statement on Buddhism as the most psychological religion. However, it all depends on what Huston Smith means with materialistic and psychological. What kind of circumstances and point of view did he use to claim this statement? We have to dig much deeper into his supports and backgrounds on this argument.
Islam and Buddhism have varied viewpoints about life and its rationale. Some of the distinct views from the two religions relates to the likelihood of God, rationale of life and cycle of life, death and life after death (Elverskog). Though they have their dissimilarities, there are few viewpoints that they have in common.
There are many diverse religions and philosophies that exist around the world. Many of these belief systems have deeply affected both the people and societies where they are practised. Two examples of these religions are Buddhism and Hinduism.
( interaction body paragraph) According to Hindu religion, Buddha is considered the rebirth of lord Vishnu( Hindu god). Since, Buddha was the rebirth of Lord vishnu and he was a founder of Buddhism. Buddhism was a part of Hinduism. Both Hinduism and Buddhism were originated in Northwest India.
Hinduism and Buddhism The idea of “religare” or binding oneself back to one’s religion is key to many religions. In Christianity, we bind our selves back to the truth unveiled through scripture, myths, tradition, and the church’s teachings. Hinduism, however has a much different interpretation of the idea of binding oneself back. There really is not a whom or what that I can put my finger on. We all came from one God and we must get back to God. But how can one go about doing that? A Hindu would say to free ourselves from the desires and illusions present here on Earth. To free ourselves from the material possessions and pleasures would be to obtain Moksha. Moksha, for Hindus, would be the point of freedom and the attachment to Brahman.
Hindus believe in the four stages of life, but the Buddha do not share that believe. Whereas the Buddhists believe in the concept of Bodhisattvas, or the enlightened existence, but the Hindus do not. Buddhists must believe that the Buddha, Sangha, and Dhamma are the three most important requirements on the eightfold path, or the principal teachings of the Buddha. Hinduism has many different paths of self realization. Both religions believe in karma and reincarnation, but their terms and conditions vary, different in as many ways as they are similar. Buddhists have no priests or rituals like the Hindus do. Also, in the Buddhist religion, any follower than achieve Nirvana, but in the Hindu religion, only the Brahmins, or priests, could achieve moksha, the Hindu equivalent of Nirvana. Another large difference is that Buddhists do not believe in the Caste System, a main factor in Hinduism. This is one of their largest differences. Hinduism does not know their original creator, unlike most other religions; they’ve lost any information about their founder over the many years, whereas the Buddhists know their creator, Buddha. Buddhism is a much younger religion than Hinduism. The two religions are very much different.
Buddhism and Hinduism both have similarities and differences. Some of the similarities are: they both believe in Karma, Dharma, reincarnation/rebirth, meditation is highly important, humility, moral principles, and they began in India. They also believe that the more you overcome desire, the less suffering you’ll have. First of all, Karma is a cause and effect principle in Buddhism and Hinduism. For example, good action causes good Karma, while bad actions cause bad Karma. I believe that what goes around comes around. I’ve seen Karma happen many times in my life. An example of when I’ve seen Karma happen was to my cousin. She has always judged people with disabilities and now she has one too. Therefore, Karma got her because she now has a disability since she would judge others who had them. From what I learned in class, Dharma has different meanings. In Buddhism, Dharma means cosmic law and order. Dharma is applied to the teachings of Buddha. Whereas, in Hinduism, it means truth, law, duty and justice. Hindus also believe in reincarnation, which to them means that the soul can’t be created nor destroyed, meaning that the soul leaves one body to go into a new one after you die. I remember my friend once told me a story about a boy who reincarnated. The story she told me was about a little boy who said that his dad stabbed him and he died and that he liked his new dad, which was his biological father. I believe that this story goes with the reincarnation topic because the boy

Buddhism and Hinduism share many similarities, such as the concepts of Karma (deed) and Dhamma (social conduct or law), a spiritual level beyond our physical world. Both see freedom of materialism as a way to reduce suffering (asceticism), practice meditation and yoga, and see the freedom of rebirth as the highest (spiritual) achievement. In Hinduism, Brahmins are the only ones capable of receiving mokṣa (liberation), and other humans and animals have to climb up the ladder to become a Brahmin first and then can get mokṣa. Whereas in Buddhism any living being can attain nirvana (liberation). Old Buddhist scriptures write:
