People listen to music for a variety of reasons. Some listen to music to relax in which it serves as a sort of escape from everyday life, some because they are a fan and follow a certain artist, and others because they can relate the lyrics to their own personal experiences. Whichever the case may be, music has and continues to serve an important role in people’s lives.

Hip-hop is a cultured style that started in the 1970’s. Majority of different funk groups began playing disco music at that time it was popular. During this time funk music was technology driven more electronic sounds were being used on the drum machines. Funk was the new dance in the early 70’s. This particular style of singing in which was being used is called rapping, this begun in African American, Urban Areas, Jamaican American, Latino American and many others cities of the United States. The group of artist or singer say words with a rhythm that rhymes. Some hip-hop music lyrics are about violence and illegal drugs. The study of hip hop music has been cited well throughout its growth over time. The purpose of this paper is intended to discuss hip hop culture and address cultural stereotypes associated with rap and hip-hop music, but also how its original lyrical intentions were forms of expression and art. Music is a form of art that affects everyone in one way or another. Music is a piece of art that fully reflects the artist’s feelings or lifelong experiences. Art affects everyone emotionally and everyone can relate to music because the lyrics are meaningful in every way just like a story. For example, XXXTentacion’s music reflects his feelings and his emotional struggles and how he had problems with suicide and clinical depression. I relate to one of his songs, “Everybody Dies in Their Nightmares”.

Almost the entire world knows who Drake is after his worldwide smash hit single, "Hotline Bling." Obviously, it 's a song towards the female listener, but Drake as we know can also get himself out of a beef. Up until now, he was aleady respected by all of hip hop for his past mixtapes, and album quality with "Take Care," and "Nothing Was The Same."

Rap/Hip-Hop is a huge part of today’s music industry, with a more loyal fan base than any other genre of music. Even though they have such a large following, there are still many that disapprove of how the Rap game is conducted, and have no respect for the people who claim to be rappers.

Rap being one of the most popular genres in this generation, can be broken down into multiple types of origins, which you can classify into three main categories, R&B, Hip Hop, and Trap music. R&B is all about the soul, being a combination of different rhythms and blues, R&B is one of the most settling and reviving genres of music. Those who listen to R&B are usually the people who think of life, relationships and the world around them in a deeply satisfying way. Modern day music consists of approximately 1,246 genres of music. Although I appreciate every genre, Hip Hop and R&B have my greatest interest. Hip Hop and R&B has followed me everywhere I go, even as a child. I love it, live it, and embrace it, and it plays a big role in my everyday lifestyle and culture.

As I stare out among the crowd, I take a deep breath while getting lost in the melodies and harmonies of the music. This feeling that flows inside me is not only a physical feeling, but an otherworldly sensation. Music is the language that all people can understand, some can speak this language, but only a few can interpret this extraordinary communication. These few who can interpret this language understand it through different aspects of life, but here is how I see it. This thing called music has influenced tons of cultures throughout the globe and have inspired millions of people to become musicians of all sorts, but to me, music has impacted me in a different way.

Different people from all around the world like different types of music. For example, there’s Hip-Hop, country, classical, and many other types of music. My favorite type of music is Hip-Hop. It’s very upbeat and has a lot of rhythm in it. Also, most of the time Hip-Hop music talks about a personal experience the singer has had.

Did you know that your favorite song is probably your favorite, because you associate it with an emotional event in your life? Music is a very strong and influential part of our lives, not only because it allows us to connect with certain situations but, it also allows us to cope with certain situations as well. Often it shows the emotional state in which we are in and we use it in everyday life all the time whether it be at work to concentrate, home when trying to fall asleep in. By definition, the term music is, “A vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony and expression of emotion.”(Definition.com). However, the definition of music is much more than that, music is emotion, language and rhythm/beat.
