Historical Conflict over Israel It started May 15th, 1948 when Israeli-Palestinian conflict began. The Israelis think that they own a land called Israel and the Palestinians think they own a land called Palestine. The Palestinians are also considered as Arabs. However according to (Historyguy, 2017), it seems that both sides claim the same land but they each call it a different name. What exactly is Palestine? Palestine is an Eastern Mediterranean area that contains several parts of latter-day Israel as well as Palestinian region of the Gaza strip (along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea) and West bank (precinct of Jordan River) , (Albright ,2017). What is Israel? Israel is a Middle Eastern country on the Mediterranean Sea. However, it is regarded by the Jews, Christians and Muslims also known as the biblical Holy Land. “Israelis and Arabs have been fighting over Gaza on and off, for decades. It's part of the wider Arab Israeli conflict.” Says (BBC, 2015). During the Holocaust and World War II, there were six million Jewish people that were killed. So then after that more and more Jewish people wanted their own country. Eventually the Jews was given a prodigious amount of the Palestine. The Arabs did not think it was fair. The Arabs whom already lived there and the neighboring countries did not think it was fair. Nevertheless, the Arabs and neighboring countries did not accept the new country, (BBC, 2015). So basically the conflict began when the Jews were given a large
The 1948 war, which started among the newly established state of Israel and the troops of Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq, is the result of decades of history that generated tensions between Arabs and Jews over the land of Palestine.
The Palestinian-Israeli conflict has been in existence since the end of 19th century. The conflict became an international concern when Israel got its independence in 1948. This conflict has resulted in a lot of minor conflicts and 5major wars.
"Since Biblical times there has been a conflict between the Arabs and the Jews in what today is known as Israel. It began with the birth of two boys, Ismael and Isaac; born to two different mothers and fathered by Abraham. That conflict has become more intricate, more serious and much more complicated" ("Israeli-Palestinian Conflict."). "Beginning with the Diaspora and furthered by the British Mandate post World War I and the Holocaust during the period of World War II, Jews sought to return to their Homeland only to find that they once again were unwanted; this time by their Arab brethren. Wars ensued and further complications arose.Time and again war has broken out between the two peoples, solutions sought but not found and the search for
On May 4, 1948, the Middle East changed as we knew it. Israel had become an official nation in the land where Palestinians once resided. Jewish people needed a place to reside after the persecution of over six million Jews. The British government, because it was in control of Palestine, allowed the Jewish people to reside in Palestine. This caused great tensions in the Middle East. In 1948-1949, there was a war between Israel and the Arab states. This war resulted in 700,000 Palestinian refugees. The Palestine-Israel conflict has been in effect since May 15, 1948. In 1967, Israel controlled 78% of what was Palestine, and the number is even higher today. (http://auphr.org/index.php/news/5100-palestinian-loss-of-land-1946-2012) Auphr (Americans
The Arab Israeli conflict has been occurring since the 1940’s. The United Nations established Israel within Palestine in the late 40’s, under control under the Jews. Israel was located surrounded by four arab nations which led to tension in the Arab and Israelis. They both started to claim the palestinian land and lead to what is know today as the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Israeli-Arab wars basically refer to a series of conflict between Israel and some Arab states. These wars have been complicated or heightened by a list of factors linked to strategic, political, and economic interests in the regions of the great powers. In some occasions, people refer to the Israeli-Arab wars as hostilities caused by religious differences between Jews and Muslims (Quandt, 2013). Nonetheless, this paper will analyze one of the Israeli-Arab wars, the 1967 War also known as the Six-Day War, based on facts like its primary cause, the countries involved, the overall strategy for each side, as well as the state which achieved military victory. Additionally, the primary battle of this conflict, its overall end result, and the reasons for selecting the Six-Day War will also be covered.

This conflict began in 1947 and continued until February of 1949 (1). It was an internal conflict between the two different religious groups (Jewish and Arabic) that occupied the area at the time. This conflict may have ended with the country of Israel receiving its independence, but that has not stopped the fighting between the two religious groups. To this day they continue to fight and there is no cease fire foreseen in the future. This conflict and all the conflicts that have followed it, have led to the current military situation and its technology.
In the 20th century the Middle East countries of Egypt, Syria, and Jordan were all powerful countries who believed the time would never arise when a young country like Israel would ever militarily defeat Egypt. To these powerful nations, such a thought was comedic, but ultimately came into existence at the conclusion of the six-day war in 1967 (June 5- June 10) where Israel defeated Egypt. This victory by Israel ultimately led to the Jewish nation multiplying in size dramatically as it was now four times larger than it was prior to the war. The main acquisitions through winning the war for Israel was the strip of Gaza along with the nearly 24,000 square miles Sinai Peninsula but also included East Jerusalem, Jordan’s West Bank, and the
The Six-day war was a war that was fought between Israel and Arab in June of 1967. Israel launched a preemptive war in order to combat the newly forming Arab military and this attack overwhelmed them. This war had a tremendous impact on both sides, but left the Arabs in total defeat. When Israeli won the six-day war, they were able to gain control of a tremendous amount of new land. This land consisted of West Bank, the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, and the Golan Heights. They were also able to occupy the city of Jerusalem.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the most controversial conflicts in modern history. The expansion of Israel since 1947 is seen as the beginning of the conflict, although its origins go back to the end of the 19th century, when Jewish immigration to Palestine began to increase. Since the start of the conflict, several peace negotiations have been carried out, resulting in variable degrees of success.
The Arab/Israeli conflict is a conflict between the Arabs and the Jews over a small piece of land known as the holy land which is an area in the Middle East of the Arab world. The Arabs call the land Palestine, the Jews call it Israel but both religions have strong religious links with the land. There is conflict between the two religions because they both believe that the land belongs to them.
The Middle East has long been home to very deep-rooted conflict. For too long, the citizens of the Middle East have lived in the central of death and fear. The animosity between few, takes the hope of hundreds. The Arab-Israeli-Palestinian conflict is most notably the largest issue preventing peace in the Middle East, but it is by no means the only issue. The issue of bankrolling and foreign aid are also issues preventing peace; because the U.S provides so much funding and foreign aid to certain countries, it is in some sense encouraging them to continue acting the way they act now and not change for the better of the region. It is also making the U.S look biased and can potentially cause issues for America in the long run, if they haven’t already. There is also the conflict of the Persian Gulf; the importance of these “new” resources and how it could affect the world economy and also the balancing of powers in the Persian Gulf; The U.S and the Middle Eastern nations will need to work to together to bring about security and stability into the Persian Gulf and hopefully it can overflow to the Middle East as well.
As the depiction of certain historical facts serves the sole purpose of justifying the importance of the historical context to the conflict, and not the merit of the events themselves, the following are only a few, yet highly applicable ones to the matter discussed. Briefly going back to ancient history, the region known today as Palestine was first known as Canaan, which derived its name from a people who inhabited it between 3000 - 1500 B.C. They were conquered by a greek people known as Philistines and also Jews, one of the semitic peoples, in the years 1200-1100 B.C. A hundred years later Jews defeated both Philistines and Canaanites, establishing Kingdom of Israel (Smith). This is important, because the first temple in Jerusalem was
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict was started when the United Nations proposed the partition plan for Jewish homeland in 1947. The Jewish agrees with the plan but the Palestinians disagree because they think it is unfair for their land being taken. Since then, many wars have been fought between Israel and Palestinians such as:
