So Nazi (Hitler’s secret police) started taking Jews to concentration camps where they were tortured or murdered. Anne Frank was one of the many jews who tried to hide out from the Green Police (Nazis). The conditions for hiding away were awful; they couldn’t make a peep until everyone was gone from the building and they ate rotten potatoes everyday.

Throughout the book, she explains how hard it was to for her, and her family to get away from these horrible tragedies that took place. “Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.” Anne tried to see the positives in life, but it is hard when a grand genocide is happening.

The Diary of Anne Frank is a remarkably moving book about the short life of a young girl and her family. The Holocaust was a horrible time for Jewish people and Anne and her Jewish family’s lives were completely turned upside down as a result. The war resulted in the deaths of countless people, mostly innocent people. Before the invasion on D-day and the end of the war not too long after, the rest of the world didn’t know the real disaster going on over seas. There is great conflict between Anne and the rest of the residents, though sometimes her father is “darling.” After a little more than two years in hiding, the German police discovered the secret Jews and sent them into labor camps, where Otto Frank was the only survivor. Anne matures and finds Peter at her side, even though there is tension between the other Van Daans and herself. Not only is there conflict between Mrs. Van Daan, but with Anne’s own mother and her roommate, Mr. Dussel.
