Anne Frank Conflicts

Imagine hiding in an attic for two years with seven other people. The Diary of Anne Frank is a drama by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. To summarize, Anne and her family go into hiding buy are eventually caught after two, long years. Historical events are reflected in The Diary of Anne Frank through dialogue, stage directions, and the diary itself.

Frank wants to hide something from Anne. The type of conflict is that Mrs. Frank doesn't want Anne to know something that she is hiding. This conflict involved Mrs. Frank, Dussel, Margot, Mr. Van Daan, Miep, and Peter.

The first part of the diary starts with her being a regular girl having fun and turns into a girl going into hiding with seven other people. In addition, she has to deal with relation problems with her mom, sister, and the people she is in hiding with. The problems begin when eight people are confined in a small area and everybody begins to irritate and annoy one another. Anne was especially concerned with herself and with her attitude towards the others in the group. She's mainly concerned with her mother who always treats her like baby. Mr. Frank tires to ease the quarrels between them by telling Anne to help out more around the house, but Anne stubbornly declines preferring to concentrate more on her studies. She especially gets plenty of confrontations with Mrs. Van Daan who thinks she is a spoiled little girl. Mrs. Van Daan constantly tells Anne’s father, “ If Anne were my daughter.” Anne’s respond to this in her diary was, “Thank heavens I’m not!” Of course

In the first chapter of the Diary of Anne Frank, from dates June 14, 1942, to July 9, 1942, she starts to first talk about naming her diary “kitty”(page 3). She then goes on to talk about how she enjoyed her last weeks of freedom and why her father decided to go into hiding. This was all started when the family received a letter requesting the presence of her “sister in a concentration camp” (page 16). Her father realizes it 's a trick to put her into a concentration camp and forces them into the secret rooms behind the bookcase where Anne family and friends would begin hiding. These first few entries are staring to describe the family 's struggles and how joyful and willing Anne really is.

Everyone goes through crisis some time in their life, but how should they react to it? It’s Simple, stay positive. Yes, sometimes it can be difficult to even think of anything good when having a lousy day, but looking for the good in things is always the right answer. There will always be a way out of a crisis in some way, so the best way to spend the time is to count your blessings and dwell on the positive. Like Anne Frank and Sophie Scholl, their response to conflict affected many people in the process. People can best respond to conflict by staying positive, because the situation can only get worse by having a bad attitude.

What is the best way to respond to conflict? Is utilizing violence really the way to settle dispute? Because of violence, numerous people did not survive brutal and persistent disagreements, but their stories of courage still arouse millions today. One case of a motivation is Anne Frank’s story, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, which depicts a firsthand account of her and her Jewish family’s life both some time before and after being forced into hiding. Another story that inspires millions, is Dear Miss Breed, by Joanne Oppenheim. This book is compiled with real-life letters from children in the Japanese internment camps, such as Poston Relocation Center. Finally, the speech “Blood,Toil, Tears, and Sweat,” given by Winston Churchill, Prime Minister, proposes his positivity in winning the war against Germany. As proven by the sources, the best way to respond to conflict is through having a positive viewpoint on the situation.

Are people aware of their own good nature, are others aware of their good nature? Anne Frank’s statement, that people are truly good at heart, is true.The current generation and the past generation has had its faults, it’s troubles and events. For instance, the Holocaust and the recent Florida school shooting. Yet, there is always good in the world, no matter the tyrant. People will sacrifice their own for others. They have the ability to change their mind from the worst, to the best. Deep down, everyone cares for something.

One thing they have in common is they are all where home schooled. They all believed in the star of David religion. They are all Jewish kids or teens living in the secret annex with other families. They all died differently. However, I think this is where the similarity between the three teenagers ends.

In the Diary of Anne Frank, the two characters I chose to compare and contrast are Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Van Daan. These two ladies are similar and different in many ways. They are both middle aged women that live in Amsterdam. When the Holocaust began in 1939, Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Van Daan moved into the secret Annex with their families.

Many people were hurt by Adolf Hitler's plans and one thing he achieved was killing six million Jewish people including children. Anne Frank and her family were one of them. They lived in a secret and tiny annex where Otto used to work. They started off just going to stay there for a few months till the Allied Forces could invade Holland but that didn’t work out. In the drama wrote by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett eight people crowded into annex for 2 long years not being able to go outside. Many historical events were impacted in the drama Anne Frank. Even though these problems took place outside of the secret annex it changed the mood and relationships of the character.

It seems ironic for Anne's diary to be symbolic of her diary, however it is. Anne receives her diary on her 13th birthday. In the diary, which Anne calls Kitty, she records her thoughts and opinions on the people she is living with in hiding, the war, and her experiences in maturing into a young lady. For Anne, her diary becomes a friend who “is more patient than man”. The Diary of Anne Frank gives a good example about how people from that time witnessed the things around them. Throughout the play, the characters are often experiencing new things in the world even though they are hiding in the attic. They face new challenges that also revolve around the changes in the world at that time. Anne and her family are often scared, worried, or sad in most of the story. The author uses these feeling to display what is going on in the outside world. For example, in one point of the story, there was a loud crash and the characters became worried that they have been caught by the green police. In another point in the play, Mrs. Van Daan becomes worried that the Frank family has been caught because they didn’t show up to the attic on time.
