During the second World War, living in Germany could have been a risky move. The chances of you dying in an air raid was higher than the chances of you sky diving today. During World War II the total number of deaths was 7,393,000. This was around 10 precent of the population. There are many different factors attributed to Germany’s early success during the Second World War. While some factors were more significant to the German’s success, there is no debating that all of them contributed to the German’s attacking and conquering of Europe. It took quite a while for the Germans to begin to have trouble winning battles. The early success of Germany from 1939 to 1941 was due to Western Europe being afraid to have another World War, America’s lack of initial intervention, the Blitzkrieg, and Adolf Hitler’s intelligent militaristic strategy.

From the Treaty of Versailles, to the rise of Hitler, and the failure of the League of Nations, there were many causes that lead up to World War II. World War I left Germany with many shortfalls, thus leaving them in the hands of the Treaty of Versailles. Rather unfair of a Treaty, this left Germany once again looking for another way out. A country resented by many had no other choice but to feel optimistic toward Adolph Hitlers empty promises… making it substantially simple for him to gain power so quick. Throw in the Great Depression, and you have a vastly unstable world, which the Germans believed Hitler would lead them out of.

World War II was a devastating war where millions of soldiers and civilians died. Adolf Hitler played a huge part in World War II and was one of the major reasons the war happened. Hitler started to take over countries like Austria with little or no resistance. When he later tried to invade Poland, Britain declared war. Even though there was very little fighting at the time Britain declared war. Hitler’s ideas and goals for Germany were what initially caused World War II and later led to the holocaust. His need for more space for Germany led him to start taking over countries and initially started the war with Britain and he wanted a superior Aryan race which is the reason for the Holocaust. Hitler stated the three reasons for starting this war in his Journal Mein Kampf. His goals were to get rid of the Treaty of Versailles, make a Greater Germany, and he wanted more living space for his people.

World War II plays a very important part in the history of the world. It still has effects that we deal with today. So, what events could have possibly started such a monumental world war? Well, the events are: World War I, Great Depression, expansion of imperialism, Versailles Treaty, and the rise of Germany. This was a dangerous chain reaction of events that lead to the devastating effects of the war.

The path to World War II can be followed back to 1919, when the Treaty of Versailles was signed to mark the ending of the First World War. The treaty forced Germany to take responsibility for the war, forcing them into an even deeper economical depression than the rest of the world. They were no longer a world power, and this made Germany weak. Adolf Hitler, a German politician, took the weakness as his chance to spread his radical beliefs and take power. He promised to restore Germany to its former glory and honor, telling them that they were betrayed and sabotaged into losing the war. The citizens, poor and destitute, believed him, and Hitler was able to take the position of German Chancellor in 1933.

Due to Germany taking back the colonies lost after World War I and forming an alliance with Austria, Germany’s actions against the Treaty of Versailles contributed to the cause of World War II. One of the major events that led to the outbreak of World War II was the treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles was one of the peace treaties that ended of World War I. It ended the war between Germany and the Allied Powers. The Germans were very much upset because their land was taken away from them. As the leader of the Nazi Party, Hitler had two major goals which were to bring all of central Europe together to form a larger Germany and to create more room for Germany to grow by taking over Poland. Hitler wanted living space for the German people in Eastern Europe. He was very aggressive about foreign policy and was considered to be the primary cause of World War II in Europe. In addition, the allies promised they would open up a second front on Europe to relieve pressure on the Soviets. This was Canada’s longest campaign in WW II, resulting in 26, 000 Canadian casualties. From Sicily, Canadians fought in scorching heat over mountainous terrain advancing 240 km, eventually causing the Italian and German forces to retreat to the Italian mainland. This secured the Mediterranean Sea for Allied shipping. After the fall of Sicily, Benito Mussolini was overthrown and the new Italian government surrendered to the Allies. The German army fought the Allies as they moved up the Italian mainland.

As a result of World War I, Germany was forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles, made to pay for the war, and had to disarm themselves, which directly led into World War II. Germany went down the tubes after they were forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles. There economy crashed and there money had just about no value. Many people that World War II was just a 20 year break from World War I. They were right because just about 20 years later World War II started. There are many things that could contribute to starting the war but these are the main point and the most recognized.

November 11th, 1918, and World War I had just ended. Germany had asked the Allies for an armistice and signed the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles made Germany lose 13.5% of their territory, they now had a certain amount of military equipment and people in the army, and had to pay reparations as high as $6 million dollars. In 1932 the Nazi party was becoming more prominent because people feared that the communist would take over. Hitler asked to be chancellor but was denied by Paul von Hindenburg due to the fear of being dictatorial. Finally after Paul died In 1933 Hitler rose to power with the ambition to make Germany regain everything they lost. He accused the Jews for the lose of World War I and he wanted them to pay. His idea for retribution was the Final Solution, which was a plan to try to kill all Jews.
