I’m Kallie Sweere one of the 8th grade students from Detroit Lakes Middle School. On December 21st DLMS 8th graders got together with other social classes. We got in groups of three, my group was Abby Brininger, Porsha Hermanson and myself. Thanks to the Detroit Lakes Rotary Clubs we gave $25 to people in need. How this works is we loan $25 to someone who needs it and they will pay us back.

Dinahlee Martinez has a loving personality. She puts others before herself and makes sure everyone around her is well. She is funny, outgoing and can be sensitive at times. For the amount of time we have live with her, we seen how a good of a mother she is. She never gives up on us. She continues to push us in every way. She currently lives in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Katheryn Marie Hawkins was born in fort Knox Kentucky on December 29,1998, at Ireland military hospital where she was 81 lbs , 6 oz and 23 inches - normal delivery . she was the second child of Russell and Catania Hawkins . she spent her 1st 6 months at home with her mom but on the 7th month, she started daycare at little angels daycare . she loved it there and they loved her . her favorite food was strained Gerber peaches and strawberries . her favorite drink was milk . she learned how to walk and talk faster than her older brother and even began doing chores around the house by the time she was 2 .

Most people will never have the experience of being a Black male, I personally never had to bear the struggles Black men encounter on a daily basis. However, I have been exposed to the weight and implications of a “Black male in America”. My most recent interaction has been with my current boyfriend, Kelsey Wilkerson. He has been through a lot in his 22 years here on earth. He lost his father at the age of six months. He grew up hearing family members describing the qualities and physical similarities he share with his deceased father. He often described hearing these stories often made him feel bittersweet; it brings a gigantic smile to his face, but it is sad because he will never have that father/son relationship. Katherine Tekakwitha, known to Catholics as St. Kateri Tekakwitha and called by them the “Lily of the Mohawks,” was born at Ossernenon (now Auriesville, New York) in 1656. Her mother, Tagaskouita, was an Alqonquin native American and a Christian. Her father, Kenneronkwa, was a Mohawk chief and followed traditional native practices. She received her given name of “Tekakwitha” (which means “she who bumps into things”) after a bout with smallpox when she was four damaged her eyesight and scarred her face. The epidemic ravaged the Mohawk population around Ossernon until 1663 and claimed both her parents and brother. Tekawitha was adopted by an aunt and her husband, chief of the Turtle clan. The survivors relocated to Caughnawaga (“wild water” in Mohawk) two miles upstream on the Mohawk river.

The name of the music singer was Lauren Lark. According to the show program, Lauren brought the bright women music between the 1940’s and 1950’s into the 20th century. Lauren has completed her Bachelor in music performance at the University of the Arts, where she received the desirable Best Jazz vocalist. While reading Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God, by Jonathan Edwards I came across some points that caught my attention. This story is based on how a pastor tries to persuade his congregation from the sins and make them to be fearful of the divine wrath, of God. I personally can relate to this story because of my religion. I am Pentecostal and I can see why Edwards would use such words towards his congregation so that they won’t perish and go to hell. My Pastor uses similar approaches like this when she preaches. In “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” Edwards uses frightening words and religious metaphors to divert people from the congregation from the sins and condemning them to hell if they provoke the wrath of God and to establish that everyone should be fearful of him.

Hello, my name is Yajaira Gilkes. I am a mother of three and a grandmother to one. I have worked with children for over twenty-two years. I love teaching children and most of all I know that God's plan for my life is to work with children because when babies or children in public consistently have conversations with me I know that this is beyond me.
