MILLERSBURG — An armed Killbuck man is in custody after Holmes County deputies responding to a Friday night domestic violence call were able to talk him into giving up his weapon and complying with officers.
It’s a much different outcome than a Sunday night incident in nearby Uniontown, which culminated in the shooting of a responding police officer and subsequent shooting death of the suspect.
Locally, Thomas Frazier, 68, of 750 N. Main St., is charged in Holmes County Municipal Court with domestic violence and using weapons while intoxicated. If convicted, Frazier faces up to 180 days in jail for each charge.

Those circumstances, he say, “escalate our response and our caution levels.”
“Domestic violence has always been a dangerous situation for anyone to walk into, not just law enforcement, but anyone, and you never know what to expect with state of mind,” said Haun. Given the potential risk, he said, “we always try to send more than one officer,” although because of the area they must cover to reach the scene, significant time may elapse between the arrival of one and another, forcing the first on scene to evaluate the situation, protect himself and the victim and contain the situation as best as possible pending arrival of backup.
On Friday, a total of three deputies, including a K-9 unit, responded to the call, Haun said.
He’s thankful it was resolved without incident.
“In this particular situation, Mr. Fraizer did comply, which is a.good thing. Obviously, it could have ended with less than desirable results,” said Haun.
“We will always respond appropriately to get control of a situation as quickly as possible,” he said, urging anyone who may be confronted by police to comply without delay and without making assumptions as to how the officer may or may not
