The economic characteristics that appeared for my home address were accurate compared to my observations. The population of people 16 years and older was divide somewhat equally between those who were in the labor force and who were not in the labor force which I expected it to be. At first, I didn’t understand the difference between people who were unemployed and people who were not in the labor force but as I further researched people who were not in the labor force are students and people who are retired. I found the percent of unemployment high which I also expected because of where I live in the Bronx. These numbers show how important public transportation is in the city, almost everyone takes the train and buses and sometime people with
On this date and time this worker met with Elizabeth Rhodes at Holtville Elementary. She appeared to be clean, healthy, and adequately dressed.
It should be noted I observed several drops of blood in a trail from apartment
The date of my observation was April 27th, 2010. It was about 9:30 in the morning when I began my study. I went to Grossmont College’s Child Development Center. The first thing I began looking for was if the child-teacher ratio was correct. The child ratio was 2 teachers to about every 8 children. The ratio was good. As I entered there was one large room that almost looked as if it could be two rooms they way it was set up. One half consisted of a large bookshelf with numerous books on it with a couch in the front of it. The other half of the room was almost like a little kitchen. It had a table with chairs around it with a sink and cabinets behind it. There were “age appropriate” toys as well as books all over the
For my home visit, I was able to observe a boy who was almost 2 years old. His name was Liam, and he was born with what is called, upside down guts. He suffered from low blood sugar seizures as well at a very young age. Because of these seizures, he had a feeding tube in all day. His sensory skills are not at his age level because he never had to feel the texture of foods. He is currently doing much better but is very fussy. When I went with the service provider, a speech pathologist also came along. This was his day to be evaluated for his speech. The service providers did not bring any toys with them but used toys at the home. While I observed they wanted him to place a ball into a hole of his toy. The speech service provider would put the ball in his hands, take the ball away, give him a paper that had a picture of a ball and the word on its.
In the United States, many parents feel that their children should be protected from all dangers at a young age and as children get older parenting styles will frequently change. Some parents believe in strict parenting and having rules and guidelines for their children to follow. On the other side of the spectrum there are parents who are very lenient and passive when it comes to how they parent their child. How a parent chooses to parent their child is a strong indicator of how the child will act in public and around other children.
Jackson appeared withdrawn, and was somewhat embarrassed before stating that he did not do well in school. Jackson knows that he can perform better in school. When the other children began to tease Jackson, he was ready to fight some of them. This is typical behavior for Jackson, and is also a pattern of disorganized attachment. Children with a disorganized pattern in infancy tend to show disturbed patterns of relationships, subsequently, their relationships with peers can often be characterized by a “fight or flight” pattern of alternate aggression and withdrawal. Jackson’s coping skills when upset, threatened, or embarrassed is fight, unless the person is physically bigger than him. If this is the case, Jackson uses flight to cope, and seeks his grandmother for protection and comfort.
This classroom was very organized and it did have a lot of things labeled. I recognized that the teacher had a lot of things in her classroom labeled. She had words like door on the door in the classroom. She used a lot of bright colors. I also recognized that the teacher did a lot of one-on-one with her students. For example, she did very small group activities and a lot of the activities consist of one-on-one activities. She allowed the children to experiment with the project. She stated that she like to have children to participate in morning discussion. This time allows her to introduce the new letter of the week. She believes that children learn a lot of literacy through song and dancing. The children would sing the songs as they played in the classroom. Some of them would dance to music.
After observing a nine month old child for this Child Observation paper, the author of this paper has taken copious notes during the session. The purpose of this paper is recognizing the biological, cognitive and psychosocial development of the child. The author of this paper identified the background history of the child, the observation made and the development process of the child.
Interactions between groups of people at sports events, especially on college campuses, have a large presence and seem to bring groups of people together. A group in sociology can be defined as people who interact with one another and who believe that what they have in common is significant; also called a social group. The audience ranged from children to seniors, from diverse race and age, but all seemed to share multiple norms and behaviors throughout the game that were fascinating to observe. The subjects, though very diverse subgroups in the audience are being studied, held similar norms and behaviors that created a sense of community among the audience, especially when specific obvious behaviors were reciprocated
In the past two weeks I have been helping and guiding my boyfriend Richard of three years with his resume and cover letter. I have a lot of practice and experience with them where as he started working at a young age and hasn't moved around often in jobs. We looked at his skills and traits and started linking them to what an employer wants. Employers want a certain education and skill but they also want a certain personality. Someone who can work well with others, is helpful and has good communication skills, someone who is dependable and hard working. I have spent the last two weeks comparing our professional traits so I will base this around his professional life. Richard currently works for a company where everyday he is apart of a team, they are given
When I arrived, Athena was finishing her morning snack/breakfast. After a few minutes, she got up and stood in line to wash her hands. (gross motor skills) While waiting, she was standing very close to the other child in front of her. With the assistance of a teacher, Athena washed her hands and pulled out a paper towel from the dispenser. When she was done drying her hands, she walked over to an area with a lot of toys. She grabbed a stuffed animal. She then started crawling around the floor as she looked at the other toys. She found a pet carrier and proceeded to put the stuffed animal into the carrier. When she finished putting the stuffed animal in the carrier, she placed the carrier on a chair. She then looked around the toy
This scenario takes place at an indoor playground on a weekday afternoon. The observed family consists of a mother in her mid thirties having lunch with her three children. The children are aged eleven, seven and three. The focus of my observation is the three year old and his mother.
Ana is a 10-year-old girl in a general education 5th grade classroom at an elementary school in the Bronx. With regards to her academic Ana struggles with reading and writing skills. Ana told me that she often needed individual assistance to complete her assignments both in school and at home. She also told me that she was taken out of her classroom twice a week to see a speech therapist. I selected this child for my observation because I wanted to see if she is able to adapt to different surroundings and concentrate in reading while being in a place with strangers. For children taking them out of their comfort zone sometimes inhibits them from giving their full potentials. Ana’s mother Sandra told me that in school Ana is talkative and easily
The observation took place on January 27, 2016 at 7 o’clock at the Denny’s located at 894 Cypress Gardens Blvd, Winter Haven, FL. The child that is being observed seem to be between the ages of 2-3 years old. According to Erikson’s Stages of Development during this time the child is in the final process of the Toddler / Early Childhood Years which is also known as Autonomy vs. Shame - Will. During this stage kids are basically building self-esteem and autonomy as he or she learns new skills and right from wrong. Also during this time if the child is not learning certain skills as other are this can tend to make the child vulnerable during this stage, sometimes feeling shame and low self-esteem during an inability to learn certain skills. The
My practicum took place on September 7,2016 from nine thirty to ten thirty. The practicum took place at Impact Early College High School in Baytown. The class I observed was Ms. Nguyen’s class of juniors and seniors that contained twenty students, seven boys and thirteen girls. The class appeared to be alert and ready to learn. Since this was their second period class they already had enough time to shake off their fatigue. The subject was Pre-Calculous and the topic was operations of functions. Students entered the classroom in a calm manner and socialized until it was time to start class. The teacher instructed the students to take their seats and take five minutes to write their assignments into their academic calendar. The teacher went
